I think this is really an underrated Bond film. It's funny how Brosnan's legacy took a hit because of DAD. I love the pace of this film and Sophie Marceau is outstanding as Elektra King. Denise Richards portrayal of Dr. Christmas Jones is enough to make a lot of serious Bond enthusiasts turn their nose up at this one. Despite Richards' presence in the film (terrible acting and all) I still really like it and I usually rank it pretty high depending on my mood :)

I agree. It's my second favorite Brosnan Bond film after Goldeneye.

TWINE & YOLT share certain nonsensical similarities, but I love 'em both.
    wow, that's becoming my catch-phrase ?:)
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

I quite like TWINE. It’s easily the most interesting of the Brosnan films – a Greek family tragedy (complete with a character named Elektra) inside a Bond film. Purvis and Wade’s script (their first draft is even better, proving once and for all that these two are actually QUITE good writers) is more layered and interesting than many 007 adventures, and there is more depth here than any of the other Brosnan Bonds. Speaking of Brosnan, this is by far his best performance as 007 – he gives the role a nuance, a thoughtfulness, and even a sadness rarely seen in these movies.

It’s not without its flaws. It has one action scene too many, and the PTS in particular is bloated to the point of absurdity (why couldn’t they just end it after the leap from the balcony?). The villain, while given some shades of complexity, is ultimately a bit dull, and considering the man can’t feel any pain, that could have been a lot more fun (imagine what a Moore era film would have done with that idea?). And finally, the notion of Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist is bad enough, but when combined with her godawful performance, it’s even worse. She’s balanced out, however, by the deliciously sexy and evil performance of Sophie Marceau as Elektra.

All in all, it’s not perfect, but it has some fantastic elements that make it well worth watching – and re-watching. Oh, and I don’t care what anyone else says: I love Garbage’s title tune (and Daniel Kleinman’s oil-soaked visuals that go with it).

Funny, when I first saw TWINE I didn't much care for it... it seemed too 'serious'. :))
Now I quite enjoy it, flaws and all.

20th Century... da goot olt days... :D

Me Too, didn't like J Cleese moving in on Q's territory, until I read that
Dear old Desmond wanted an assistant to help take the load off him
For remembering lines etc. The ending of TWINE always reminds me of
The ending of TMWTGG, as it seems quite small in scale.
Still I do agree it has a good story, with some great action scenes apart
From the ski chase which looked very tired. :#

I've always found underwhelming, especially compared to the one in OHMSS :#

I've always enjoyed the ski sequences in the Films, OHMSS is out standing.
    I also thought FYEO was exciting and inventive. TSWLM was a great PTS -{
And as I said I enjoyed the snowboarding in AVTAK, at the time it was something
New. With TWINE, the villains chasing Bond seem to almost take each other out
    with Bond skiing between them.
Everyone has a different opinion but for me, it just seems a little tired, maybe if
It had been edited differently ...... Who knows. :)) or as Higgins pointed out. Just
Get Willy Bogner to do it. {[]

Oh yeah, the ending...I forgot to mention the ending. It's horrible - just the worst climax in Bond history. It's dull and slow and seems like it never ends. And to this day, I still have absolutely no idea how Bond kills Renard.

This is especially disappointing because everything leading up to the submarine is simply fantastic - Elektra torturing Bond, him chasing her up to the tower, the "I never miss" moment...it's all superb. And the music during the chase up the stairs is probably my favorite minute of Bond music in the series' history.

Another little thing that bugs me about the end of TWINE, Bond's shoes !
Buckles and tassels ?, Can't see Bond wearing those. :))

    +1

And I agree about the title song, too. I like it quite a bit.
