the time for my yearly re-renewing of my extreme love for Flogging Molly is here once again. I get to see them next month on the 30th in Denver with most of my friends. Nothing gets better than that. 7th time, baby. 7th time.
I don;t know if I should admitt this, but I've been listening to James Blunt's abum 'Back to Bedlam.' :v I have to say, I think he's got a terrific voice.
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
I'm very fortunate to have a good group of close friends, and if ever there was an anthem for us, it would be this. It played a prominent part in two weddings this year, and it was most definitely the theme for our big 2 week outing to Tenerife. Altogether now...Shang-a-lang, shang-a-lang, SHANG-A-LANG!

You are way tooooo young to remember that, Moonie !
I've been on a real Queen kick lately. I've been listening to all of their albums that I own (I own all apart from 'The Game' which I'll be getting next week, and 'The Cosmos Rocks' which doesn't interest me) and at the moment I'm listening to 'Made In Heaven.' A truly gorgeous album, it is one of my favourite albums and is yet more evidence (if any was needed) that Queen was among the absolute greatest musical artists of all time.

I'm also a great Queen fan, and lately i'm listening those albums i've listened less(The Game and Miracle),and i have to admit that i've hooked on song "Play the Game"
Leona Lewis singing Run - originally by Snow Patrol. Not usually a massive fan of covers or big ballady singers like her but this really does get the goosebumps going.

{[] I also know that you are a Leone fan, so you clearly have great cultural tastes. (BTW, 'Play the Game' is indeed a terrific song. )
Anyway, at the moment I'm listening to the magnficent Alanis on youtube. (Yes, I know, she has a surname, but I think that she deserves to be called by her first name, such as someone like Aretha. )

The great new single from the very underrated The Shortwave Set - those that are 'down wiv da kids' will know who these are )
Dour, Yorkshire songsmith from the 1950s and 60s. Sort of like Flanders and Swann but on valium. Covers the same whimsical world, country buses, chatterbox wives, monosylabbic bedfellows, but with a gloomy, misanthropic tone that is curiosly depressing. One song is about his dog who is so overly pleased and enthusiastic to see him, it ends with him going to have him put down. All revealed with no glee or flourish or comedy. It's like having serial killer Fred West on the ukelele.
My Dad is a fan so I bought him the CD for his birthday and am now reaping the worldwind. Never a good deed...
Wow, that's weird...I was just coming on to post this....

It's going to grow on me, I'm sure...but it's very interesting and catchy, even at first blush. Even though Axl's got a new band behind him, it still sounds very much like the G'n'F'nR of old in many places.
Too bad it took fifteen years!

She was interviewed by Chris Moyles on Radio 1 the other morning...and she came across as a really nice, fun girl next door type, with a great laugh.
