Been listening to Dave Matthews Band newest CD Big Whiskey & The Groo Grux King. Such an improvement over their last two albums. Stand out track right now is Squirm. There's some New Orleans influence in this album to (see: Alligator Pie). This album was mostly recorded in New Orleans and I think that's one reason why it's so good. I think Tim Reynolds (guest guitarist) and Rob Cavallo (produced) had a lot to do with it to.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope
I've been hearing a lot about The Dave Matthews band Mr. Martini, I'll have to check them out! I am currently listening to She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult!

The James Bond Theme:).... The original one, not a remix....
"A dry martini, in a deep champagne goblet. Three measures of Gordons, one of Vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until its ice cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?" - Ian Fleming's 'Casino Royale'

"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman

This is oddly beguiling. It's a Swedish Pet Shop Boys covers band called West End Girls, with two young women replacing Tennant and Lowe. I love how the blonde one assumes the Lowe role of looking sad in the background.
Electric Arguments by The Fireman, aka Paul McCartney.
I've rented this from the local library. It's good stuff, here's a taster:Highway
The vocals are better this time out, Macca's now-creaky vocals are a bugbear of mine, because they need the aural equivalent of soft lighting and vaseline on the lens, and they have it here in the form of reverb and double tracking. Some of this album puts me in mind of the soundtrack to the Channel 4 series Skins, series one and two, sort of ambient folk mixed with rowdy blues tracks from Beth Ditto's Gossip. This is a good thing.
All the same, it's still a tad frustrating. One song, Dance Til We're High, which starts off like a Phil Spector record (ironically in view of Macca's dislike for Spector's work on the Let it Be project) could be a top 10 hit but won't be because the vocals just aren't polished enough to make it a regular on the playlist.
All the same, if you're a Macca fan (Loeffs!) then this is good summer listening...
