It was a low budget, locally made film, but it has it's cult following! Daft, but in a loveable way Big Country provided the whole score.
I had the extreme good fortune to see Big Country at Wembley Stadium in 1987, they were supporting David Bowie. I'll never forget the awesome sound they produced from their guitars. My personal favourite song of their's is East Of Eden, I don't think it was a big hit but I love it anyway.

I've heard the sound described as "guitars giving that bagpipe sound". I don't know if that's how I'd describe it, but it is rather unique for sure. And instantly identifiable as Scottish. The Seer, featuring Kate Bush, is borderline folk music, so parochial is its sound.

I'm not sure how I would describe it either, only to say that it was rather unique and magnificent, especially when heard live.
Youth Group's Casino Twilight Dogs. One of Australia's best current exports, this is the group famous for their cover of Alphaville's Forever Young (featured on the television programme The OC).
Perhaps Scotland's best band, this is the album which beat Nirvana's Nevermind to be named US magazine Spin's Album of the Year. It deserved the title.

Not one song, but a whole album. Since I bought this album this past Tuesday, I haven't stopped listening to it. I'm talking about Nine Inch Nails newest album Year Zero. This is classic NIN. Also a cool little novelty about the disc is, it changes color. when you open the package the disc is black, after you listen to the whole album, take it out of the player and it's white. Don't worry, it changes back to black after time.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

{[] Thanks for posting that clip. I haven't seen 'Restless Natives' in years. Maybe not since the 80's. It's out on DVD, so I'll have to get a copy. I never noticed the Hibs and Aberdeen fans running after them before. Or maybe I did and can't remember. Stuart Adamson's death was a big shock.

I probably shouldn't admitt this, but I've recently been listening to Ricky Martín on youtube. ;% I've been listening to "Livin' la Vida Loca" and "She Bangs." I've also been listening to "Brand New Day" by Sting. A terrific song IMO, but going by the clip, he is not exactly the most modest of men. (The video clip basically depicts him as Jesus.)
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
As I was out running along the coast an hour ago, this came on my iPod and I was struck just how good a song it actually is - waaaaaay too good for Eurovision, where it represented Georgia. She's like a far prettier, more normal Eurasian version of Björk...
