That Bassey album is a few years old now, but Almost There really is a brilliant song.
It was a cover of Tom Baxter, and his original does has a different spin, sort of younger guy 'been dumped but I'll show you' type thing that goes back to I'm Gonna Be A Wheel, whereas Bassey is more resigned, phlegmatic, autumnal.

From the the fabulous second album from Florence And The Machine - out today and already firmly ensconced in the cd player - Only If For A Night :x
The very catchy, very 2000, "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus
Listen to it and you will find your perfect karaoke song (for those of us who were still whipper snappers in 2000, for the rest of you, just have a listen for fun)
This just seems to reach inside me.... He is very clever with his lyrics.
(And his last song that I liked.... well every girl would want their man to play it for her.
Bizarrely for me, I've been listening to Matt Cardle's X Factor version of Nights In White Satin - to be fair the guy really nails it.
I'm a huge dance music fan & there's a tune by Simon Garcia called If This World Were Dub which is a loose remake of a Marvin Gaye song. Can't stop listening to it!
And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
It's a shot in the dark and right at my throat
Cause looking for heaven, found a devil in me
Looking for heaven, found a devil in me
Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me
She's worth whatever chaos she brings to the table and you know it. ~ Mark Anthony
BTW in The Times today, Rachel Weisz on how you can't help who you fall in love with...
No, indeed you can't.... sometimes it doesn't seem to be the right time or place - but that depends on the strength of character and the type of love you're talking about. One is shallow and easy, the other is truthful and hard....the former seems to have a brief victory, but it's the latter that wins in the end.

Okay, put the bottle of whisky down now Lexi.... ) {:)
EDIT: Oh hang on, Rachel W is banging on about her new film Deep Blue Sea with that quote, not in relation to Craig who she is studiously not talking about in today's Telegraph magazine interview.
