During these long winter nights my mind often wanders to those long summer days, especially those of my youth. The long hot summer of 1976 stands out, the summer of drought in the UK. When I think of that time one record stands way above any other, You Are My Love by Liverpool Express. It was a fairly big hit at the time as I recall. A stunning song, one of my all time faves.

Weird ... I've just rediscovered 'Everyman Must Have A Dream' by Liverpool Express ....
If I asked you to nominate U2's most memorable performance you would most likely vote for Live Aid (1985). As memorable as that was it's not the one I would vote for. I was fortunate enough to see them live three times on their Joshua Tree tour back in 1987. At the NEC in Birmingham, Cardiff Arms Park, and most memorable of all Croke Park in Dublin. To see them at their peak performing in front of their own people in their home town was one of the greatest experiences of my life. My favourite song from the classic album is Where The Streets Have No Name. The intro is one of my all time faves.
It's a podcast on iTunes called «Da Club House». Exactly the kind of music that plays at fancy bars. I listen to this all the time at home when I'm working.
If you can't trust a Swiss banker, what's the world come to?
Daulton Lee by the Pat Metheny Group (from the soundtrack to The Falcon and the Snowman). Pat is the master of the guitar synth and the vocalizations starting at about 3:20 just soar.
I have been re-acquainting myself with the Bond films lately including my favourite The Spy Who Loved Me. In my opinion, Marvin Hamlisch's wonderful score is a match for all John Barry's bar his very best, You Only Live Twice and On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
Nobody Does It Better is one of the most memorable title songs and I love Bond 77, or disco Bond as my brother puts it. My favourite though is Conclusion, a stunning almost heavenly piece of music. In the film this is when Bond emerges after discovering the body of Fekkesh. Anya asks him "Where is Fekkesh?" Bond replies "With the pharaoh's".
Love that. You should check out the whole album, Lexi. Two very talented guys with a great collaboration. Danger Mouse can write hooky songs like few others.
I am currently engrossed in Snow Patrol's latest, Fallen Empires. Very good.

Thanks Sir Hillary... will check them out. I too am looking fwd to the Snow Patrol album...(just waiting to borrow it off the BF! ) )
Today it's Cafe Del Mar... and the goreous Jose Padilla Adios Ayer
I defy anyone to listen to this, and not feel relaxed... and wanting to go see the sunset for real -{
She's worth whatever chaos she brings to the table and you know it. ~ Mark Anthony
I love the shuffle feature on my i-pod. It makes me listen to songs that I probably would never hear...
This track is by Vangelis and John Anderson So long ago, so clear (who can't be moved by JA... an icon for sure and responsible for one of my all time favourite albums '90125' )
You give yourself away so cheaply my dear...
It came up with a link describing one of Lexi's summer day's out...
I've been watching Eurythmics videos from the early/mid 1980's the last few days. I don't think I realised at the time just how good they were, especially Annie Lennox (attractive, great voice/personality). I was more into U2, Simple Minds, Talk Talk amongst others. Eurythmics produced a number of high class singles during this period and my big favourite is It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back).
Recently I did a road trip across Iceland in an off-roader. Such a beautiful trip, random interesting hitch-hikers and crazy Icelanders, and FM957 entertaining me despite my 3 phrases of Icelandic (which were totally unnecessary)... Anyway, song of the trip was - and I'm not apologising for it -
Just logged into that, great song, didn't realise it was Coldplay.
The video really enhances it though, and I like the snuffley trunk in the airport aisle.
Unlike Kate Bush's videos, Cloudbusting aside, mostly dreadfull. This Woman's Work is a great song, but the video is over literal with Percy from Blackadder mourning his dying wife... her latest video with Robbie Coltrane sucked too, imo.
So, I've said before I have quite a range of musical tastes. This one surprised me a bit as I haven't like much from Usher ever, but I think the last stuff I liked was nearly a decade ago. What can I say? I find his non-club new single refreshing and he has a good voice.
Starting to love this song as one of my favorite Bond themes. It gets stuck in my head and stands up well still today. And Kanye West sucks...
From memory Diamonds Are Forever is the first Bond title song that I listened to. It certainly stuck in my head at the time and I still like it now. Having said that, I am one of the rare breed that favours Moonraker of Dame Shirley Bassey's three title songs.

This next offering is my most up to date so far. So what if I am an old fogey? I bowed out of the pop scene about five years ago. Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber (amongst others) are just names to me. This may or may not be my good fortune. One of the very few groups I appreciated around the time of my departure was The Cardigans. They produced some real quality music and my favourite is Erase Rewind.

You know those songs that you really like and have had in your head for years but can't remember the title or the artist....or both. Hail You Tube! Just start with a song and artist you know then click on the links to other songs and artists. With patience and some luck I have been able to find some real gems. One of them is Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy. It's so wonderful to be able to listen to this great song again from start to finish after all these years.
Can I offer an opinion? Tosca is most definitely for me. The opera scene in Quantum of Solace is one of the few highlights of the film, IMO. It suffers a little from the death by a thousand cuts editing technique but is otherwise nigh on perfect. QoS may not be one of my favourite Bond films but I will always be grateful that it introduced me to Giacomo Puccini's stunning Tosca.

I love the way the first few lines sound. Love the song too. It came before I was born, but that's no barrier.

To clarify for you, Justine Bieber is a Canadian lesbian that behaves a bit gangster due to mentorship from Usher. :v
Good song choice! I am with the masses listening to Lovefool. Sadly, Justin Bieber made a cover of that one...
