Not sure whether I like it or not. I think Matt Bellamy must have been off his face when he wrote it
It's been officially announced as the 'theme' song for the Olympics. It's going to be used when the athletes enter and prior to medal giving ceremonies ...
Always had Muse as a potential Bond theme candidate ...
Edit: Have listened to this several times and I really quite like it ! Just as well, as I think we are going to hear it an awful lot over the next few weeks .

I quite like it also, it is growing on me. It has a nice intro, the chanting sounds have a Russian/eastern european flavour to them. I am not too keen on the heavy guitar/rock sound towards the end.

The BBC showed a trailer of their title sequence for London's Olympic Games during the Euro 2012 final on Sunday. I will reserve judgement for now. The title sequence and song for the Beijing Olympic Games produced by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn was/is a big favourite of mine. I love Monkey.
Kylie Minogue has become something of a national institution here in the UK. We have adopted her in the same way as her fellow Aussie Rolf Harris. I am not a huge fan of her music but I really do enjoy this one.
One of my favourite of all film soundtracks is Ennio Morricone's The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. It is loaded with wonderful music. 'The Desert' being a perfect example, hauntingly beautiful.
Here is my favourite ABBA song (and one of my all time favourite's) performed on the BBC's Seaside Special TV series in 1975. Remembering Seaside Special I suddenly feel old but then when I watch Agnetha & Anni-Frid I suddenly feel very young.
This is one of those songs that was stuck in my head for many years. I mean the tune but very few words of the lyrics and no idea who the artist was. I eventually found the answer when I mumbled what I knew of it to a work colleague. He somehow worked it out. A very good song to drive along to.
Keeping the Olympic theme going. I came across this rather nice song by chance, entitled 'This Dream'. It featured in NBC's promo of the London Olympics.
It's hard to believe the London Olympics is over. It seems like only yesterday I was watching the Opening Ceremony. I watched the Industrial Revolution sequence in awe. Here is the great soundtrack to that sequence.
I enjoyed listening to various countries anthems during the Olympics. But there is one anthem that has always stood out from the rest. I first heard it nearly forty years ago and to this day it never fails to get the hairs on the back of my neck to stand, especially when sung with such pride and conviction.

I'm a big fan of the Dave Matthews Band. On Tuesday they started to stream their new album Away From The World on iTunes. Basically you can listen to the new album for free. Of course I jumped at the chance to hear this album (I've already bought the "Super Deluxe Version of the album). I'm so happy I listened. Right now, the song I listen to the most is a track called Rooftop. There's a few other standout tracks on the album, but this track is going to be awesome live, once they start to play it. Drunken Soldier was weak when I first heard it. After multiple listens it has really grown on me. Another track that will be great live once they start to play it in a concert setting. The best part for me, I get to see my favorite band in less than a week. Good times will be had. Away From the World is set to be released on Sept 11th.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope
Here's two great songs from Japan, who were and remain one of my favourite groups from the early 1980's. The second song is from the album Oil on Canvas and would probably be called a "filler" Regardless, it sounds wonderful to me. Whatever happened to David Sylvian? What a voice.
Random one today... but it was a backing song from a certain northern soap that I catch up with on a Sat am.
It was one of the first 'pop' songs that I recorded (on tape, from the radio ) and learnt the lyrics too...so brought back memories of me singing in front of the mirror...

In this interview with Lana Del Rey, she sings to the interviewers a cappella a few times. I quite enjoyed it, plus several moments of her speaking voice sounded rather unique to me in a pleasing way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-7QwPDRP__o#!
