The Rolling Stones began their 50th Anniversary tour at London's 02 Arena last night. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts were joined by Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. There were also guest appearances by Mary J Blige and Jeff Beck. Here is a video of the Stones performing Sympathy For The Devil.
One of life's mystery's. I woke up this morning with this song in my head. A really nice song but it was not a particular favourite previously. I had not heard it in many years.
In a quiet moment earlier I was thinking about what music I could listen to, then suddenly thought of Deacon Blue. Been a while, I'd almost forgotten what a great song this is.
Many years ago a work colleague recorded Depeche Mode albums 'Black Celebration' and 'Some Great Reward' on to a tape and kindly gave it to me to keep, which I still have to this day. He was a fan, I wasn't especially, but after the first play I was fully converted.
I'm a huge fan of (the music in) Zack Snyder's film adaptation of Watchmen, especially this very sweet and melancholy track from the score by Tyler Bates.
Nice to hear that Kate Bush has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List. A well deserved accolade for her long and distinguished career.
About ten years ago I bought the Classic Chillout album on CD, it contains a mix of music from the likes of Ennio Morricone, Jean Michel Jarre, Art of Noise, and Moby. I have always loved this song in particular from Deep Forest.
