I think some people here are going to be shocked by this. I have no idea regards the standing and credibility of a Satellite Award, but an award is an award.

'You Know My Name' wins Satellite Award for Best Original Song

The title theme song to the latest James Bond film Casino Royale has won the 2006 Satellite Award for "Best Original Song".

"You Know My Name", co-written by singer-songwriter Chris Cornell and Bond composer David Arnold won the award against stiff competition.

The awards ceremony was held on December 17th 2006. It is the first award scooped by Casino Royale.

The other nominees were:
"Upside Down" - Jack Johnson, "Curious George" (Imagine/Universal)
"Love You I Do" - Henry Krieger, Siedah Garrett, "Dreamgirls" (Dreamworks/Paramount)

i would like to say something like "in your face non believers" or something but it would be childish and intolerant as well.

Yes, is the first time i've heard about the Satellite Awards and beats me what or even where are from... but hey, at least is something!

The nominees i only knew "Upside Down" which is a good song, a slow and acoustic song if i may, totally different to YKMY, but i like the last one
more.

Let's just hope that this award help it to get an Oscar Nomination...

Not sure if 'You Know My Name' is the kind of song that will appeal to the Academy. Regardless, I am pleased it has won an award. Yes, it sounds much more like a traditional rock song than a traditional Bond theme, but I really like it.

It would appear that a Satellite Award is prestigious. The awards are presented by the International Press Academy. A Satellite Award "honors the most outstanding achievements in the fields of cinema, television and new media".
