Does She Have Moneypenny Potential?

Watched the first season of "Deadwood" and was struck by the actress Molly Parker, whom I think could be a very good Moneypenny. She has a sort of soft spoken but earnest quality, is pretty without looking like some plastic surgery patchwork or the ever-so-boring Aryan ideal, isn't a dork or a harpie like the last two Moneypennys, and even hails from Canada, like an illustrious predecessor. Here's her bio and some pics (but, like Craig, you really need to see her in action to fully appreciate her talents:

Oh, and Happy Holdays, all!

Yes, she'd be great. 'Deadwood' is an amazing show. She kind of plays it buttoned-up in that role, but you get a real feeling there's a lot of passion going on underneath. Would suit Moneypenny.

Glad to see I'm not alone, John Drake . . . she struck me as exactly as you suggest, this kind of passion underneath that is wrapped in a sweet sense of propriety. I think she'd play off Craig, well, too, as her relationship with Bullock was similar.

The whole cast of that show is terrific, including Brad Dourif, who usually plays psychos, but how about Ian McShane? If the Bond folks ever wanted a testerone-y M, they'd be advised to consider him.

Not bad, but I think for now Villiers is the new Moneypenny. I'm sure there won't be any Bond-Villiers flirtation action in the near future, but I think that a fun relationship could develop between the characters, with Villiers as an overcaffinated young polytechnic graduate who has to put up with the wrath of an oft-PMSing boss whose occasional youthful blunders are sardonically berated by the choleric Bond.

Villiers is Chief of Staff, not a secretary. There is plenty of room for the both of them.

As for the woman in question, I have never seen Deadwood, but she's certainly pretty and looks Moneypenny-ish.

I want to believe that Villiare is William Villiers Tanner or something like that.

I don't think Moneypenny necessarily mean flirting... but please, forgive my ignorance: What is Moneypenny made of? i know not a bimbo, but what is her, what makes a lady Moneypenny-ish?

Lookswise, she's got a Meg Tilly meets Diana Rigg's cousin thing going on. But it's her presence and acting that got my attention. If you get a chance, watch "Deadwood" and imagine her playing a more modern but similarly demure woman.

My mistake. I thought he was a secretary. He is certainly very young to be a Chief of Staff, though.

i think there is room for potential for a lot of fun there between the two. But otherwise Menzies should jump ship. He's way too good for such a bit part role.

I've never seen Deadwood so I'm at a disadvantage from the start, but going on looks alone (and that's a horrible thing to do) I'd have to say - no. Not even close.

Watch her in action, Miles, and let me know what you think. Even if you don't end up caring for her, the show is worth a look!

I can't - those caring people at Sky have pulled the plug and will not allow Virgin Media access to their Sky TV channels.

Ah. Is Sky a Murdoch property? He'd make a good James Bond villain. His Fox network alone is responsible for destroying the minds of a good deal of Americans, The Simpsons notwithstanding.

This is who I want to see as Moneypenny:
    Honeysuckle Weeks (28)
    www.honeysuckleweeks.co.uk/ams02hws.jpg
    http://treenet-homepage.de/benjenkins2/bigben116-HoneysuckleWeeks-1.jpg

I only know her from the british crime series
"Foyle's war" where she plays Foyle's driver, Sam.
    she should be Moneypenny because:
-she is cute and charming, not model pretty
    -she is a good actress
    -her name is very bondian
    - she reminds me of Louis Maxwell. Not so much the physical resemblence. more they way she talks and moves.
