Has anyone on these forums had much experience with invicta watches? Specifically this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006AAS4M/ref=pd_cp_jw_title/104-9054147-8389523
There's also a model with a bezel more similar to the rolex. I want to get one as a cheaper alternative to the rolex, but wanted to ask if anyone here has had bad or good experiences with them, and where might hte best place be to buy one? I live in Australia and would likely need to have it posted.

This category of "near" authentic watch is what I call "G-3: Alternatives." As long as you're not buying a replica, something to deceive or which infringes on intellectual properties of others, here are my recommendations.
The Timex 29781 is a pretty nice affinity piece to the Dalton-Bond Rolex Submariner Date.
For the latter era Rolex Submariner (classic), Ollech and Wajs makes a nice piece that looks a lot like it, and has a very good build reputation: The O & W M-4 Precision Diver, a/k/a UDT PRO w/o date.
If you like what you see on either of these links, check the Internet for sources, distributors in your country.
Merry Christmas!
But recommending to buy a fake watch is really delicate. Nevertheless you are supporting stealing intellectual property to create a product without any soul, you may support a bunch of very organised criminal organisations, which are in business to produce and distribute these illegal products.
when it comes to the point considering to buy such a fake, I'd recommend getting a Swatch watch for less money, or to use the clock of your phone instead of getting this kind of c..p on your wrist. That is in my opinion a better deal, but some watch "experts" may have other opinions on this.
Merry Christmas

So do you think it would be a bad idea to buy the invicta watch? The reviews seem good and seems to have a good reputation from the people who have them.
006: Can you post a link for a replica privately to me? Also, got any links to replica omega watches like the bond ones? I'm not so sure about replicas though. I got a replica rolex years ago from my uncle from some asian country and it was absolute ****e. Fell apart, was far too light for a watch etc.
Would this timex watch be a better watch than the invicta? I don't necessarily need a rolex or rolex fake, just a watch that looks very similar in style. To me, the invicta watch actually looks a little better than the timex one (and as far as I know, Timex aren't brilliant?)
Which, I for one, am greatful for.
It's really nice when someone offers to share their expertise on a certain subject and then links to images to illustrate their point.
And I would not condone the buying (or selling) of replica (ie fake} goods in any way, shape or form. I understand your point about feelng ripped-off, but that doesn't excuse the selling of fake goods. I mean, do you really know where the money goes to from the selling of fake goods ?
And a little less with the personal attacks, please - take it to PM's.

With that in mind, why should the Invicta, which is also an attractive and apparently quality timepiece, be dismissed as a Rolex wannabe simply because it shares a general similarity with Rolexes -- as do pretty much all other watches? Maybe the company just means what it says on its Web site, that it seeks to provide a quality watch at a good price. It's not like it's a bootleg product you're buying from a guy in a raincoat on a street corner, with a phony Rolex trademark. Now maybe, like my Timex, it's not as accurate as a Rolex, but really, how accurate does a watch need to be?
I say go with the Invicta, Sharpe. And check out a site like overstock.com. They have a lot of good deals on things, including watches.
I wore a very good copy Rolex for two years and as soon as I could afford it I bought the real thing. I put the replica on display.
In this crazy mixed up world if you can buy a fake then why not. In the end you are only kidding yourself but also having a bit of fun too.
BTW I ordered and got my SS date sub within three days from my local jeweller. I listed my name with 20 jewelllers who all quoted about a two year wait! My jeweller owed me a big big favour and although my branch was too small to carry Rolex they had one couriered from Switzerland!

Do you really understand my point? Have you ever paid over £2000 for a watch that developped two manufacturers faults within six months of purchase? Do you consider it in any way acceptable for a product costing that kind of money to develop such faults with no active use whatsoever? Personally, I do not consider it acceptable, and I don't know anyone who would consider it acceptable, so forgive me for not putting Rolex (as a company) on a pedastal, and advising people to look at alternatives to an overpriced item.

As I said above, this is not a personal attack, but a statement of fact. If Dell wants to make a point about a watch, there is a plethora of information and links just a fingertip away via Google. Continually linking to the same page of a personal website is nothing more than bragging. I don't feel the need to link to pictures of my watch everytime I type the words 'Rolex' and 'Submariner', and I will not do so when I receive my Planet Ocean either, so I find someone who does that on a constant basis to be nothing more than a self-promoting show-off.
As far as I'm concerned, this issue is closed, I simply wished to address the points directed at me.[/quote]
My, my - we have got a lot to get off our chest haven't we !
Could you not consider that Dell links to images of his watches to show others the watches you are talking about ? It certainly helped me.
Is there a problem with people linking to their own sites ? Mantis constantly links to his own site, showing the many items (99% of which I have previously seen) in his collection - do you find that to be narcissistic/bragging/showing off as well ? Perhaps people are just proud of their collection ?
Yes, I understand your point about a faulty watch - I'm not thick. But I'm sure someone such as yourself could have sorted that out - or perhaps you couldn't ? I once bought a DVD that turned out to be faulty - does that mean I should only buy fake DVD's from now on to show them who's boss ?
If you don't enjoy reading Dell's posts, my I respectfully remind you that you don't have to reply to, or comment upon them. Let's leave this here, _006_, and please PM me to discuss this further, if you so wish.
Please let's get back on track.
I HOPE my posts are not in comparison to the above examples but perhaps I am just fooling myself...:)
I don't own an Invicta, so I'm only relaying what I've read in watch forums.
For the most part, watch geeks fall into two camps when it comes to Invictas - they either love them or hate them. I haven't seen anyone who comes down the middle.
For this particular model, people seem to like them. I'd say go with it if you want to get something similar to a Rolex.
Do some searching on www.timezone.com or www.pmwf.com (poor man's watch forum). They're great resources on watches.
Good luck!
The O&W watch Dell linked to was quite attractive, by the way. I really liked the look of it.
I'd like to join Sir Miles in saying that I find Dell's links informative and helpful. And if you don't want to see his watches over and over again, just don't click on the links.
