Largo's Home in the Bahamas

Hi, I was playing some with Google Earth and I zoomed in on the location that they used for Thunderball of Largo's Home and put it all on a small webpage. You can see the pool and also the shark pool.

It shows Largo's home, plus also the airport to the SouthWest, which they used in Casino Royale and the road, right to the South, which Daniel Craig was driving on in Casino Royale.

Here is the link:

Pretty neat. I was just in Nassau back in July during a cruise. If I had thought about it, I could have zipped down the road from the dock and seen it for myself.

Any clue as to what the location is now? A private residence? A club? or something else?

That's a good question. I didn't see anyone in there. I don't really know. If you were in Nassau, the place where your cruiseship most likely docked is the same place that was used quite a bit in NSNA.

If you walk off the ship, you'll see the spot where Sean Connery caught that blond girl. Then toward the left of you, you'll see a one story building with pilars. That's where Rowan Atkinson yelled out, Mr. Bond! On the right, you'll see a 5 or 6 story yellow painted hotel. If you go inside that hotel, you'll see where Fatima Blush dramatically walked down the stairs. In the back of that hotel on the beach, you'd see the location, where Fatima Blush ran into Bond where Bond says "My Martini is still dry." The little building was destroyed during a hurricane, but the location is still there. If you look into the harbour, most likely close to where your cruise ship docked that's where Fatima Blush waterskied. Now, if you were to walk into the town itself, you'd see all the locations for the big parade in Thunderball. You also can find most of the locations of Casino Royale of both Madagascar and the Bahamas itself on that island. For instance the big construction site is on that island too. It's fairly large, you can search for it on that island on Google. Hint it's next to the water or ocean.

Wow. Do you live there or something. I did hear that the house had been hit by a couple of hurricanes and was in quite a bad way. Would be interesting to see some current photos.

No, I don't live there. I went with the last Bond Collector's weekend with Matt Sherman. He is the one that did all the research and found the stuff and took us there.

Here are some pictures of Largo's home:

This is the front of his home:

This is looking from Largo's home to the road, where Daniel Craig drove the car in Casino Royale:

This is the pool, where Largo shut Bond into:

This is the actual shark pool, notice how run down it is. There were a bunch of weeds in there and it had very some small fish in there.

This is the door that Sean Connery used in the film.

Maybe I'll post some other pictures later.

There excellent. Thanks for posting those. It does look quite run down. Which is a shame. Is it somebodys home?

Fascinating stuff, kees007, thank you very much for posting that. It's really interesting to see such places outwith their Bond context- maybe that's an idea for a thread....

kees, thanks so much for these photos -- very interesting!

Wow, amazing that 40 years later such a glamorous place looks so crappy.

Wow, some very interesting shots there! Thanks for sharing.

That is one of my favourite villain lairs and back then it was marvelous but today it looks rather tired.....the pool that is! ;)

Still, all round it looks a really brilliant place!

The locations always look alot nicer in the films than in real life. They could have just spruced it up just for the filming.

The house doesn't look that bad, though I couldn't go inside and the shutters were down, so I have no idea how the inside looked.

The outside of the home looked fine. The pool area was a bit broken down, like it wasn't used. Notice that the actual pool was dry. If you look on the film, you'll see on the outside, there was a white fence made of concrete, well that was pretty much torn down and some pieces were laying on the beach.

The sharkpool was the worst though. I think with a little bit of care, it could all be brought back to life. It was right on the beach and there have been quite a few hurricanes in that area, so that could be one of the reasons that some of the outside had suffered. Just a few miles East of there, there is a huge hotel next to the beach and the section where the cruise ships dock. It was used in NSNA again and right behind the hotel there was the outdoor cafe that Fatima Blush and Bond met (i.e. My martini is still dry). Well, that outdoor cafe was totally destroyed during a hurricane and that's just a couple of miles from there.

But going back to Largo's home, I would think that it would be fairly expensive Real Estate, even disregarding the part of it having been in the Bond film, but just beach location, close to the airport, about 3 or 4 miles West of Nassau.

BTW, I signed on and for some reason, the "Reply" and "Quote" buttons are missing in this thread on the forum. I don't know why.

The buttons aren't missing...just shoved waaaay to the right because of the formatting of the posted pictures. Even at a high resolution, the buttons are off-screen on my monitor.

So to anyone who wishes to post in this thread, you need to look thataway ---> for the buttons. :)

I see, that makes sense! I just made the pictures smaller. Thanks!

Good job kees007 - excellent photos and information! I've never been to Nassau but it looks like it has lots of interesting Bond things to see. The house does look a bit run down, but I think it would be an interesting project for someone to take on if it were for sale.

Thanks for that Kees, it was fascinating!

On a related note, do you think that being in a Bond film adds anything to the value of your property? On the plus side, you can squee every time 007 throttles someone on your patio in the film; on the minus side, you get obsessed fans such as myself turning up and taking photos of it!

I don't know. I think it would depend on the buyer. I would think because of its location and the size, it would be expensive Real Estate by itself. It might be a good place to buy and use as a small hotel or maybe a Spymuseum in the Bahamas out of which one could make a Bond Location tour or something like that. I couldn't invest in it right now.

I would think that if someone buys it as a dwelling, that it has to be a fairly well to do individual and at those type of prices, it might not be that big of a deal to really make someone spend much extra money for it.

I don't know. I've never sold Real Estate in the Bahamas. I would also think that the insurance policy on the house would be huge, because of the location with hurricanes.

Good points there Kees. I think if it were to be a just someones house, they would need to put up some kind of fence to stop everyone peering into the surrounding grounds! Bring on winning the lottery!
