Bond films that were responses to other films

Most people say Casino Royale is Bond's response to the Jason Bourne films. You know what I'm thinking of: more real, better plots etc.
You can also say LALD was a response to the blacksploitation films, MR was a respons to Star Wars, LTK was the resonse to francises like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. Were other Bond film responses to other non-Bond films?

Even early Bond films were derivative, borrowing from Hitchcock thrillers, though with a much lighter, less angsty tone. Then the Bonds reacted to their own success or lack of it eg TB had to step up a gear, as did YOLT to respond to other run-of-the-mill spy flicks.

OP was a reaction in some ways to Raiders, and also Connery's NSNA in that it pushed the boat out more with the action.

I suspect that most Bond fans who make this statement about LALD have never seen a Blaxploitation film, or even know how to spell Blaxploitation correctly.

You could also say that LALD was based on the Ian Fleming novel which featured all-black cast of villains including Mr. Big, Teehee and Whisper.
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

That's true, of course, but the timing of LALD's filming was important. It probably couldn't have been done in the mid-60s, for example. To a lesser extent, the timing of MR's filming falls into that category, too: granted, major changes were made to the book's plot, but the outer space/sf theme (topical in the late 70s after Star Wars) fitted with the title and plot more easily than they would have with, say, FYEO.

I cant see that CR was based on the Bourne films.I thought CR became available and was a good story. It was the one time that could go back to Fleming

I dont think Bourne entered the equation
    1. For Your Eyes Only 2. The Living Daylights 3 From Russia with Love 4. Casino Royale 5. OHMSS 6. Skyfall

I agree. I have never bought into the "Bond is Bourne" point of view. CR is a Bond film through and through.

I think the style of Bourne was very popular and paved the way for a return of Bond to being a believable secret agent, without any gadgets. The style of editing, fighting and tight plotting in Casino Royale are very different to the Die Another Day style.

Goldeneye felt like a response to the older Bond films which reveled in misogyny.

I suppose you could say that GE was the beginning of a different Time for Bond. It was the 90's and things had moved on since the 60's.

I just re-watched Tomorrow Never Dies, and I think its very easy to see that it drew influence from Chinese action cinema that was beginning to become very popular in other countries. Specifically the works of John Woo who had just become a global action director.

that's why as an opener to a bond film he should kill a rogue bourne like assassin. "bond, did you finish the job"..."yes, it is like he was never born" bond grins...play theme

Quantum of Solace was a response to Goldfinger, and probably some Michael Moore movies too.
