Bond Stars TV ads

Here’s a few links to some ads featuring three of the James Bond actors.

First up is Sean Connery waltzing alone with a glass of Suntory Whiskey.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWHkcwbnMEs

Then, and I really can’t believe this one, selling candy with the help of a pink rabbit. :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ynhaXce3Ho

And finally getting a little too excited for my liking when he gets into a car, for this tyre ad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4ZbUz7Hqgs

Next up is Dalton encouraging Japanese people to take up smoking, back when a 007 was allowed to do that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsyjLtQsN70

Here’s Brosnan hawking er, oh dear, :( cosmetics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG6TUSO5zVk

This one’s worse. It incorporates footage of ‘TND,’ making it look as if James Bond would recommend cosmetics as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q94zi-S3xI

Bond actors aren’t the only secret agent stars at it though. Here’s Kiefer Sutherland in Jack Bauer mode selling a health drink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htK5_M1Pzh8

James ‘In Like Flint’ Coburn also had a go at promoting Lark Cigarettes. Not sure what the message in these ads are. Smoke our brand and you can kick the s**t out of people?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YckPxDvPBdo

Lastly, I rather like this 80’s ad that borrows from TSWLM, with a tuxedo-wearing Christopher Lambert taking his Renault 19 for a swim.

Wonder what Daniel Craig will wind up advertising?

Whatever pays the most, I suppose. Thanks for those, JD, quite hilarious; Connery and the rabbit is totally surreal, but IMO the most cringeworthy is Brosnan and the cosmetics.

Here's the early PB one I remember....right after he 'lost' the chance to become Bond in The Living Daylights...

It looks like he's done a fair few ads in his time. Here's another Diet Coke one.

Drink Diet Coke, Ninjas will try and kill you. :D

Oh my lord, "Brains Faggots" :)). Tim deserved as Oscar for keeping a straight face- or maybe that was take 87 and he'd been trying for hours to get through the whole ad without laughing?

Brains' Faggots... "purveyor of quality meats"... TOO MANY JOKES.

Though it did remind me of the fact that I haven't had faggots for years. I used to love them as a child.

(There really is no way of saying that without it sounding filthy, is there?)

Wow,I had no idea that many of the actors playing Bond had done so many tv adverts over the years.
I don't know what it is about the consumer market in Japan but they always get big name Western Film/TV stars to appear in them. Check out Arnold Schwarzenegger's add for a coffe company for more zany fun.

If I remember right the second Diet Coke add with Brosnan was featured during the 1987 Superbowl, where all the big American companys pay thousands of dollars to show of thier products.

Is there any sign of that brilliant Christmas Tesco ad with Roger Moore and Prunella Scales (with Moore playing Bond like he wasn't a day over 50)? I loved that ad...

There is -- if you live in Liverpool. Here in California, if has a different ring. :)) The words definitely sound odd coming from James Bond.

Sean Connery also did a TV ad recently he, last year appeared in an add for Citroen's C6 model, in the add he is driving along the coast in southern France and each time the camera shows him, he gets younger and younger via CGI until he appears as he did in Dr. No.
When he arrives at a hotel, the valet say something to the effect "Mr. Connery you've changed. "
to which Connery replies "It's the car."
It can be viewed at this link
I found it to be the most funny add he has done yet. Connery also appered in print ads for Jim Beam Whiskey in cira 1966/67.

Also Check out the 007 inspired 7 up add at youtube, it is real hoot.

PS: anyone have the Visa check card commerical with Brosnan and Desmond Llewelyn that came out during during 1997 when TND was in the cinemas and was also used to promote TND on video.

Here in the UK the Milk Marketing board tied in with the Bond films to promote milk in the 60s and 70s (cinema ads only), although the only one I can recall (my age you know, memory is not what it used to be) was the one from OHMSS, where it concentrated on the demolition derby.

Kind of a bizarre tie in isn't it - the Milk Marketing Board? How often has milk featured in Bond movies? ?:) I can't see this happening today - only cool things seem to be associated with Bond!

Well, some of Roger Moooo's lines have been pretty cheesy, such as when 007 butters up a pretty maid. He does offer to buy an ice cream in "Past-eur-ised Only", but that was no great shakes unlike "Thunderbull" or perhaps "Cowsino Royale". Udder than that... ;%

That's the lovely Zhang Ziyi with Pierce. Lucky sod.

Here's Pierce at it again. This time in Thomas Crown mode, hawking lager. It doesn't matter if you've just stolen some priceless diamonds, you're not going to impress that model/actress/whatever without the right brand of lager in your fridge. :D

Okay, it’s part of a series. Pierce is a gentleman thief who robs expensive items, finds himself short of cash, and ends up trading his stolen goods for a glass of beer. Here’s another one.

He looks quite good in these. Better than he has done in his last couple of films, The Matador and Seraphim Falls. Older, certainly, but very suave.
