Sorry, Ladies. . .

Looks like Craig is going to keep his pants on in Bond 22. Here it is, from Starpulse:

Daniel Craig To Keep Covered Up In Next Bond Film

New 007 Daniel Craig has told film bosses to cover him up in the next James Bond movie, after attracting attention for his physical prowess in the tight swimming trunks he wore for Casino Royale.

Craig's famous scene in skimpy blue shorts won over female fans, but the actor is keen for the next Bond film to focus on his acting talent, rather than his appearance, according to a British newspaper.

A source tells the Daily Express, "Daniel was a little uncomfortable at the amount of nudity he had to do. He appreciated that a lot of it was to win over the female fans but it's not something he wants to make a habit of, no matter how good he looks in his trunks."

I don't think he feels uncomfortable, I think he is annoyed at that people are more impressed by his physique than his performance.

I don't believe Daniel Craig was uncomfortable with the nudity. But he's obviously become irritated and annoyed regarding the attention and constant questioning about the swimming trunks. He wants to be taken seriously and thinks all the attention about the swimming trunks demeans him as an actor.

I can see why they wouldn't want to be seen as 'going to the well' too often in this regard...and I still can't help but smile at the notion of positive comments on Craig's appearance becoming a distraction :)) Priceless...

Of course he'll be more 'covered up' in the next one---relatively speaking, it won't be difficult ;% ---after all, Bond once went nearly a decade without so much as taking his shirt off (at least to the extent that he was photographed below the shoulders!). It's nice to know that going sans shirt, at least, will remain an option for the remainder of Craigger's tenure.

Nope, he wasn't saying that at all. Read the post. And also moderate your language while you're at it, please (and also learn the difference between "your" and "you're").

I can see where he's coming from. Although his physique was fabulous, I can see him wanting people to look at his acting more closely.

Great, another value-added member at AJB. 8-) Thanks for nothing, moron.

Back to the topic...This whole story falls under the "any publicity is good publicity" theme. I love these supposedly well-placed sources -- probably someone who's never spoken to nor met Craig.

Bottom line: whether he's uncomfortable baring himself or not, and whether he really does stay more clothed in Bond 22 or not, I couldn't care less. But, the fact that stories even as silly as these are getting publicized is only a good thing for the franchise.

Personally, I think the reason Craig doesn't want to appear semi-nude is because he wants to down a few beers and avoid the gym. It's hard work maintaining a physique like that. . .

. . .And isn't it ironic we've gone from talking about Craig's "fugliness" to his being the object of many a lustful gaze?

:D I saw Infamous, the Truman Capote movie which stars Daniel Craig. Couldn't help thinking when Johann Hari, the Indie journalist, made that crack at Danny Boy about his trunks, Craig suddenly became his character in the film, riling with contempt against the gay scribe. :)) Life imitating art.

What's really funny about this thread is, somewhere there's a recent blurb, kinda like the one that started this thread, about Craig wanting more nudity--his--in the next Bond film. I know there's an old story about this somewhere, but apparently there's a newer one as well. The moral of this story is, any way one slices it, Craig = sex. Who'da thunk it?

I could gush now about the fact that DC doesn't need to kit off to be sexy, if he opens his eyes he has half the female population of the planet eating out of his hand (or anywhere else he suggests lol)

However, the fact of the matter is that he is a good actor, he's not just a pretty boy ala LDC et al and actually has some substance. He wouldn't want the fantastic reception of CR to be based solely on the memory of him in his shorts the same way Michael Schumacher wouldn't want to be remembered because his car was red - its about the driver not the car however you apply the principle.

I won't further dignify sonicwind's reply by quoting him yet again 8-) ...but where the hell did that come from?

    Attention sonicwind! For your erudition:

objectify to give objective form to; make objective or concrete; externalize*

    - Webster's New World Dictionary of the American Language

*'externalize' being the heart of the matter, in this particular instance---i.e., putting outward appearance first...

Good luck to you, sir...and welcome to AJB :007)

Other than the swimtrunks and the torture sequence, Craig didn't bare that much. And the torture sequence was a fairly literal interpretation of the novel (and I'm pretty confident that Fleming didn't write that scene with the intent of promoting Craig's bod). If Roger Moore can pull his clothes off in AVTAK and it didn't hurt his career, I don't think Craig has anything to worry about.

I don't much look at the guys - although my late grandmother always commented upon Sean's fine hairy chest on the latest Bond tv screening I almost forced her to watch - so how about the wonderful and in your face, very upfront and very vocal Sarah Harding getting a spot in the next film? {[] The rest of the Girls Aloud gang need not apply IMO. 8-)

Not since the wonderful Caroline Munroe would I be as impressed! :007)
