I won't do it unless there's a general consensus from the group. Personally I think if we keep the heat on for a couple days we should be able to get TLD out. After that I think it will open up a bit.

TB, TLD and CR have all been single digits at one point or another; all it takes is a couple of people to take their eye off the ball and not vote (as I did with TSWLM, for example - I blame myself) and the scores will plummet...

I confess I'm surprised by the devotion afforded TLD (pity Dalton didn't get more support when he was actually wearing the tux; better late than never!). Other than the early exit of DN, the seminal Bond film (No respect for a classic! ) , I'm fairly sanguine about the surviving six...
CR clocks in at #5 on my personal favourites list, so an exit now (however unlikely ) would hardly be anything over which to slit one's own wrists...Craig/CR fans must take assurance in the juxtaposition of a #6 ranking (at least!) with the debacle many predicted a year ago.

As am I, especially given all the hate that DN, CR and TB (all vastly superior films with vastly superior Bonds, imho) receive. You learn something new every day I suppose.
They pretty much only get hate from me though, I'm the oddbird around here. (And proud of it too)

DN and TB vastly superior to TLD?
I won't argue with you on the merits of these movies, as this is not the proper conext; in any case, I think you made your point about disliking TLD amply clear, and I have neither mind nor sufficient rhetorical prowess to dissuade you.
What I do wish to point out, in reponse to the claim you make above, is that the bond-fans who hate CR are probably also the Dalton haters, and conversely, the people who defend the Dalton-legacy are the ones who most gladly embrace the new direction taken by Craig.
The devotion inspired by TLD comes from appreciating a film that, while not perfect, took some creative risks, made some gutsy choices (just as CR did)... choices which one may like or dislike but which seldom leave one indifferent. This, by the way, is exactly the opposite reaction inspired by the Brosnan films, which, by comparison, show remarkable polish, great craft, but all in all a safe (therefore instantly forgettable) interpretation of the Bond myth.

I think so, personally, though this is merely a reflection of my love of Sean Connery's Bond contrasted with my distaste for Dalton's. I apologize if I have made these feelings perhaps a little too clear-- it's just that this game is dragging on a bit and, well, TLD just won't go away.
This, by the way, is exactly the opposite reaction inspired by the Brosnan films, which, by comparison, show remarkable polish, great craft, but all in all a safe (therefore instantly forgettable) interpretation of the Bond myth.
For what it's worth that's my biggest gripe with the Brosnan era-- it didn't really bring anything new to the table.

Hmm. I hope you read all of my post, where I indicated that it was a pity Dalton hadn't been shown more support when he actually was Bond...and it would be oversimplifying, IMO, to say that CR haters are also Dalton haters. Personally, Craig is my second favourite Bond actor, and I don't dislike Dalton at all: I'd merely bemoan Dalton's poor fortune in the scripts he was dealt.
I might very well be the biggest fan CR has on this entire site.
I'm not sure how 'gutsy' TLD's choices were, given what had come before (and its appropriately diminishing returns), but anything remotely different would have been welcome to me...I'm certainly not one of those who 'dislikes' Dalton or 'Daylights.' My point is that I'm not sure it deserves to be sixth overall, according to The Game. Only me saying so, BTW---worth exactly what it's cost me to type it...and you to read it
If you feel TLD is superior to DN and TB, that's just fine with me. I was born three months before DN came out, and my Frame of Bond Reference is the 1960s. It's really that simple.
Excuse me for saying so, but your modesty with regard to your 'rhetorical prowess' rings a bit false. You seem quite able to construct a coherent, persuasive thesis {[]

Love CR and Craig; really dislike TLD and Dalton as Bond, simply because it was such a mess of a film and he was all over the place in the role. It's also easy for me to lump in the Dalton Bonds with Brosnan's, for similar reasons...JMHO. I think the intent is there with the Dalton Bonds, but that's true for any Bond film. Were TLD and LTK successful in realizing that intent? No. IMHO. For me it's the difference between a poorly made film and a well made film, that's all: TLD is the former, CR the latter.
