I'm enjoying it too. I was thinking someone should start a new one with the 6 Bond actors. We could give them each 15 points or so and have at it. What do you think?

You probably will play it that long. I am fighting a hopeless rearguard action (with others, of course) on behalf of my beloved TLD, but when it falls ( it is inevitable...that movie was never going to garner the support here that the other films do), I will be happy to keep battling on to make sure that Goldfinger does not come in first.
I have scored a major victory already by ensuring that TLD outlived TSWLM. I will also make sure that one of the other remaining films, all pretty much a wash to me, outlives Goldfinger, another silly comic strip Bond movie. I will be here, every single day until the game ends, making sure that Goldfinger recieves its long overdue minus.
It is inevitable.

I love Goldfinger to death, but at the same time I heartily agree that too long has it claimed the undeserved status of "Best Bond movie evar" when there are other, excellent films, that have too long remain hidden behind its towering shadow. (And while you're at it be sure and kick OHMSS the occasional point. {[] )

Look on the bright side Mr. St John Smythe. TLD already has won the title of best Bond film made between 1970 and 2005 in this contest. Regardless of how long it stays in, TLD has already beat all 4 Brosnan films and all 007 Moore films. I'm extremely proud of how well TLD has performed.

I'm doing my part for that cause, Lazenby. Yes, I adore GF too but it does seem bad that TB, FRWL, OHMSS, and even the now deceased on this thread YOLT (which I rewatched again recently and was reminded how great it is) have often been neglected due to GF.

If you can listen carefully, you can hear the splash as JFF's body smacks into San Francisco bay. But he didn't sink. He landed on Chritopher Walken.
Good. I would hate for anything bad to happen to JFF. I'd miss him. Whenever TB and/or TLD "lives to die another day", JFF's comments always bring a smile to my face.

I apologize if I have made these feelings perhaps a little too clear-- it's just that this game is dragging on a bit and, well, TLD just won't go away.
No apologies required, Laz. As for the other matter... I have no illusions: TLD is no FRWL. I'm just doing my best to extend its lifespan, as long as can.
By the way, I hope neither you nor Loeff think I was being confrontational or aggressive in my comments. That was just a faint note of anxiety carrying my words.

I totally understand! We all have our favorites that inspire within us an almost familial devotion, which at its worst can make us a little over-protective in situations like this. Bond movies are funny that way. :007)

I'm with you JFF. IMO GF was and will always be the greatest Bond film of all time! People are always criticising it, but as far as I'm concerned, no other Bond film (not even FRWL) is as good as GF, and I will do everything within my power to ensure that justice is done and GF wins this game. X-(

And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
This, by the way, is exactly the opposite reaction inspired by the Brosnan films, which, by comparison, show remarkable polish, great craft, but all in all a safe (therefore instantly forgettable) interpretation of the Bond myth.
I will certainly concede that the Brosnan films were 'safer' than CR or LTK (I don't agree about TLD) but I don't think it matters. A film can attempt to be different but be quite ordinary, or it may not attempt to be different but be superb. IMO the Brosnan films fit into the second category, while the Dalton films (or more specifially LTK, as I don't think that TLD was all that different to previous films) fit into the first category.
