Add to that the fact that TB is outpacing GF, and I find myself taking Dan's side
At last someone is on my side. -{
I think it's safe to assume that it will eventually be a battle for number 1 between FRWL and OHMSS.

Sorry, I made a post which I now deem to be irrelevant. ;%

Wow. It's great to see CR and TLD listed and confirmed as the 2 best Bond films made post-1970.
That's the thing-- enough people have been participating in this game, with enough varying viewpoints, that it's got some degree of objective credence.
Sorry guys, but while I love this game and I hope that GF wins, you can't exactly argue that this game is truly objective. Prince Kamal, I'm happy that your favourite films have been treated so well, but it's going to take more than a game like this to convince me that CR and TLD were the best Bond films made post-1970.
With all the tactical voting that's been going on there's no way this game can be described as the definitive ranking of the Bond films from the members of AJB. However, I think it can be taken as a rough guide.

True. I guess I'm a little upset that almost all of my favourite films have either been snuffed out or are on the way out.

Well, there's no accounting for other people's taste. For me, GF is as good if not better than TB & OHMSS combined. I'll never understand the love that people here have for OHMSS. The only elements that merit it's high status are the excellent ski chase sequences and John Barry's superb score. The rest is average at best.

Just as some of us will never understand the love some people have for Roger Moore.
That being said-- how does tactical voting negate objectivity?
I love OHMSS and Roger Moore, so I take offense to both statements.
Still, it may be a rough guide to a General Bond Fans favorites, but if a new person came on the site and posted to me "Is this what you like", I would say "For the love of AVTAK, NO!!!"
Well, there's no accounting for other people's taste.
I would certainly agree with that. DN (my fourth favourite Bond film) and TSWLM (my fifth favourite Bond film) both failed to make the top 5, while TLD (my second-least favourite Bond film) came in at number 6 and CR (a top 15 film for me) made the top 5.

I adore OHMSS, although I don't think it's as good as it could have been. It's flaws are IMO Lazenby (save for the physicality and the final scene) and the script (the romance was a little undeveloped and there were a few things such as the 'that never happened to the other fellow' line which annoy me.) That is why OHMSS is outside my top 5, when if it had Connery and a better script, it could have been in my top 4. Now among the reasons why I love the film are the plot, the action scenes, the dialogue, the script (although it is flawed), the final scene, the music, the scenery, Diana Rigg and Terry Savalas.
BTW, Lazenby, the reason tactical voting may negate objectivity is that it results in people (such as myself) not always voting for their favourite film, but rather a film that they want to protect. Alternatively, they may not vote against their least favourite film but against a film which they feel has garnered too many votes. (I'm also an example of a person who loves both OHMSS and Roger Moore. )

I don't hate Moore or anything, I certainly enjoyed some of his movies-- I just never found him a convincing Bond qua Bond and in that regard I see him as sort of an entertaining placeholder.

I still don't see how tactical voting negates objectivity, so long as people play the game with their own individual "favorites list" in mind. In that sense the list ends up being an "average" of everyone's list, which is perfectly in tune with the object of the game, it seems to me.

Perhaps, but I think that polls are more objective. Alternatively, Harry Palmer conducted an analysis a while ago on numerous 'favourite films' lists which was interesting.

How did my reply come before your comment? What kind of paradox is this? ;p

It's an alternative universe. Anyway, I have now responded to your most recent comment.

For me it's simple. OHMSS captures Flemings world like no other film, therefore it's the best. Period. End of story.

Agree, well put.
IMRO, an appreciation for Fleming (or, at least, a desire to see more of his literary influence explored on the big screen) is far from universal in Bond fandom; this no doubt accounts for the broad spectrum of interpretations of the role---bringing us full circle to accounting for other people's tastes.
Eon has served up some things, over the course of 44 years, that I'll still be puzzling when they start to spade dirt onto my box ?:)

Sure he did-- Harry Palmer deducted from TB, not GF. He just didn't erase MAHO's scratchwork, ie., the "[16]+1=".
Another way to tell is to make sure the collective points always sum to 110 (22*5), which they don't if you leave GF at 16.

I very much agree with that. As much as I love DN, FRWL, TB, OHMSS, TSWLM or several other Bond films, none fill me with as much joy as GF. :x
