Moviecarfan the mercedes is a masterpiece, well done !!
Photo of 'SKYFALL' film set taken this week. Nice JAG XJ, XF and white Van . All standard issue random vehicles or as used by HM security . Possible Skyfall vehicles and indeed issues in the future
Although I have praised up the JBCC recently Moviecarfan, your work reminds me how good the collection was when we had figures and good bases/dioramas.It takes me back to the UH era, when they tried to create the movie scene, now the focus is on the car.Yes,I suppose the cars were a little hit and miss, but they were fun, something thats missing now.Great work again Moviecar fan.
That's a brilliant conversion, MovieCarFan, well done!
If I may ask, what font & font size did you use for the writing on the base?
I agree - fantastic job, MovieCarFan!
FACT - having played around with various fonts, I am pretty sure that the font in use on the display cases is Eurostile-Black Regular 12pt as in this example (the middle dot is 20pt, however):
Thanks for all your very kind comments on the Goldfinger Merc, everyone, I’m glad my efforts don’t appear to have been in vain as far as my fellow JBCC enthusiasts are concerned!
I wish I could turn out these models faster and cheaper, if I could then I’d be very tempted to sell them on. Although the Del Prado Merc 180 didn’t cost me much (£6/£7) I’ve checked on eBay since buying it and it seems to be a rare beast for some reason. But, if anybody wants to try and get hold of one and do something similar, I can pass on tips and background artwork etc – here’s the registration plates artwork for instance:

Unfortunately, from the figure and diorama point of view, I think we’ve probably seen all the best models come and go now. But that’s not to say that the present offerings won’t compliment all the others or can’t be enhanced with some ‘Do it Yourself’ figures taken from spare models.
If I may ask, what font & font size did you use for the writing on the base?
I have to admit I didn’t look any further than the standard fonts available on ‘Windows Paint’, and the one that seemed to be the closest was Arial Bold. I knew it wasn’t the exact correct font but also knew there are hundreds of fonts out there, some specially created by studios, so thought trying to find it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. However, it seems our friend Rhinoman has saved us all the effort and tracked it down as ‘Eurostile’ which looks exactly like the printed captions to me – well done that man! Regarding point size, I typed it out in ‘Paint’ white on black in about 36 point then printed it out in reduced sizes until it matched the model captions, leaving enough black paper either side so that the cut edges lined up with the plinth edges.
I have a question for Rhinoman – have you created a Casino Royale E-Type you haven’t told us about?

Oh, by the way (sorry, this is off-topic) for those who are interested, Corgi Vanguards will be releasing a model of the 'Ashes to Ashes' Audi Quattro soon, in standard form and in 'bullet riddled' form as part of a special twin-set.
MCF, I'm also looking forward to the 'Ashes To Ashes' releases - they are scheduled for April according to a list I saw at John Ayrey (the diecast wholesaler).
No new Bond announcements from Corgi in this latest catalogue of theirs - no doubt they will announce something for Skyfall later in the year, but at the moment I reckon the market for Bond diecast cars is swamped by the JBCC. I am still seeing new people offloading their JBCC collections on eBay, and the subscriber-only specials are now fetching £5 or less on auction. I paid £13 for my half-taxi about 18 months ago and I thought at the time that was a bargain. Now I'm thinking of buying Little Nellie as well!
It's a pleasure - also, I think the font isn't printed full white on black, more a very slight grey colour - try an RGB of 234-234-234 rather than 255-255-255.
I have a question for Rhinoman – have you created a Casino Royale E-Type you haven’t told us about?
Well - it's a strong possibility because I have the Vanguards 1:43 primrose yellow E Type and spare 007 display cases and it has some legitimacy as a model in JBCC - need to work out how to mount it on a sloping road though - as seen in this IMCDB picture: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_2266-Jaguar-E-Type-1965.html.

I've got the same yellow Vanguards E-Type, it's a great model. I've used one method of attaching models like Vanguards without damaging them: Put some masking tape on the base, place the car in position and mark around the rear wheels in pencil, forming two rectangles. Near to the inside of both of the rear wheel 'rectangles' marked on the base, drill a 2mm hole through the plastic. Loop a 6" length of fine wire (like stripped copper electrical/speaker cable) around the inside of the model's rear wheels, over the axle ends, leaving two pairs of 3" wires hanging below the car. Remove the masking tape and thread the wires through the holes drilled in the base and pull them tight - twisting them round on a couple of pieces of matchstick held underneath the holes works well. Usually, once done, the wires are hidden by the wheels and the model stays firmly in place.
Looking at the IMCDB pic, I reckon the issue 1 DB5 base and background would be fairly close with a bit of work.
Personally, I reckon anything from the first 'Casino Royale' or 'Never Say Never Again' are perfectly legitimate. It's a James Bond Car Collection after all, not an EON Car Collection as far as I'm aware. I've been told that a Bond DB5 even made a cameo appearance in a 'Man From UNCLE' movie, with Lazenby as Bond - so possibly even that might be valid as a 'code3' model!!
MCF, I am a little late to the party but I also have to say that your Mercedes is fantastic. I especially like your approach to make the diorama look like an original Fabbri release. This really does blend perfectly in the collection. Well done! {[]
And yes, the NE 9641 is the one that went over the cliff and exploded. The other 180 is NE 5961, and the 220S is NE 3184. I remember checking these numberplates in slow-mo back and forth, for a Minichamps 180 and a 220S I bought ... By the time I will finally "find some time" to convert these they will have been released. This happened to me with a blue Norev Renault 11 and a Carabinieri Landrover ...
Regarding the lettering: a year ago I posted this link. This is lettering for display cases in the correct font Eurostile bold for most cars not yet released and including CR67 and NSNA. http://img703.imageshack.us/i/jbccbeschriftung.jpg/
It's a JPG in actual size with 720 dpi so should give a sharp text on most printers.

Apologies, RW - I must have completely missed that post link ... which is a shame as it took me some while to find the font ... your published list looks spookily like my font experiment document!
Thanks MCF for the hint re JBCC #1 diorama ... I checked it out on the web rather than try to find it at the bottom of my box ... it made me realise this collection has been running almost 5 years now!!

Thanks for the kind comments, Rainier, and confirming the Merc's registration plate detail. I would hope that if EMFabbri are still keeping an eye on this forum, they might be inspired to produce the Merc 180 in black along with Oddjob's grey 220 - perhaps instead of the much derided idea of a Morris Minor. Thanks also for the font info, like Rhinoman I'd completely forgotten you had posted that image before. Not paying attention again, you see!
I too am late to the party but MovieCarFan...that is MAGNIFICENT! {[]
Thanks D110 - much appreciated! I'm hoping to do something with the LTK Dodge Ram when that appears (assuming its presentation will be fairly basic). In the meantime, I'm awaiting delivery of a Road Champs '59 Impala I've just bought on eBay, with a view to creating Leiter's girls' car in The Living Daylights:
Only fleetingly seen, but it's one of my favourite American classics

Corgi have been a bit slow on this but glad they are producing it. I think the twin set is with MK2 Ford Granada. Definitely a purchase . I loved ashes to ashes and indeed Life on Mars. back to bond.
Yep I agree the XF and XJ would be perfect additions . I noticed Hornby (Corgi, Scalextric etc) have announced SKY FALL related products but keeping actual specifics very secret.

Hi guys, just curious if any subscribers have received 114 & 115 yet? Money came out last month, and seems like ages since last delivery, so bit worried they might have gone missing. Cheers
Off topic again but Bond related and a bit of fun: The Royal Mail are planning on issuing a set of 'Bond Poster' stamps and are asking people to vote for their favourite -

Welcome to the forum robd35 - I'm not a subscriber but I don't think there have been postings by anyone to say these issues have been delivered yet (no doubt someone will put me straight). If you're in the UK and want to give the JBCC a call, the number is 08712770192.
By the way people, there was an interesting feature on the BBC lunchtime news today about a new 50th Anniversary Bond movie vehicle/craft display down at Beaulieu, which includes many seen in the JBCC:
Just spoke to Database Warehouse (UK) today and 114/115 are now available back order so subscribers stuff should already have gone out/be going out I would think.
They also tell me that 108 re-run is here and I hope to be getting my long on order Econoline.
On 'Skyfall' another forum has rumoured that a DB5 has been seen on or near the movie shoot, also a Daimler hearse and a Land Rover 110.
I suspect you have spies working for you, JJS! :v
Even in a slightly blurred night-time photo the DB5 still looks fabulous. It's interesting that the Land Rover appears to be a half-cab this time, and stripped down like that, it looks like it may be being prepared for an action sequence.

I have just been emailed from a manager at Database Factory and they say that ther is No despatch date as yet and wont be going out for a few wieeks?
If that refers to 114/5 They have allowed me to order the models but their standard terms are wait for a about four weeks for any order so I guess that fits. They are taking orders but dont expect to send them out until say three weeks time.
If it refers to the Econoline aaaaaaagh. I was told they are definately back in stock and they would flag my orders to send first class - they should be with me next week on that basis so I will know if accurate soon....
Thanks for the replies. I think the direct debit came out recently, which prompted me to query this, as usually I get the delivery before the next dd. So as it stands I have paid for 114/115 and 116/117. Hopefully we will get 114/115 soon.
Well Database Warehouse got it right on Econoline. It arrived yesterday. Brilliant Model am glad to have it. Does look a bit bare in box with no-one in it. Could have least done a picture mock up of it in the petrol station whilst driver paid for "gas".
Well will just have to settle down and wait for 114/115
I just saw the Mercedes issue 112 at a newsagent. A very nice model - but even despite the insription on the base it does not scream "Bond movie car!" at me. If I displayed it without the inscription, no-one looking at at would guess it was part of a Bond collection, even with the "diorama" it came with. So, as a result, I could not justify buying it...
Just told today that due to magazine delays not model manufacture that there maybe a delay of eight weeks between deliveries .
Maybe they're hand drawing each magazine with quill pens. Most printers could turn those magazines around in a few days, including artwork. :v

A bunch of vehicles waiting to be transported to Istanbul for filming part of 'Skyfall'.
No sign of the Niva on eBay yet......
Printing is not a problem... writing more articles is! Maybe they should just re-print articles from earlier issues? I'm sure no-one remembers them anyway. Finding pictures of featured vehicles may be difficult too - some are so obscure that you can't Google up a single photo!
