Funny reply from G E Fabbri, but since issue 100 there has always been an 8 week delay between deliveries to subscribers.

A bunch of vehicles waiting to be transported to Istanbul for filming part of 'Skyfall'.

Ixo makes a New (2000 model) Beetle I believe, so that blue one could certainly be turning up in the collection.

Well, I now can't wait to see the Cambridge I ordered! That looks terrific and the best part is that Ixo appears to have improved the grille from the La Route Bleue version. The wheels, tires, and ride height are also an improvement, as the former two were both too small and the latter was too low off the ground. Despite the little issue with the yellow paint being between the hood and the windshield, that car looks amazing.
By the way, are you gonna eat that?

yes, its a beaut......i am just comparing the route bleu cambridge and this one and they both look terrific.....the route bleu was a masterpiece i think, especially with the diorama......the main difference that i can see are the wheels......gone are the white wall versions.....apart from the taxi sign on the top and the paint/transfers( brilliant quality) it looks pretty similar....yes, the sills are higher, which is more like i remember it...............in summary, a brilliant model, well done IXO....and Fabbri

    hiya, welcome to the forum
its nice to see new collectors joining and you could have started a debate!!!....yes,the prices on ebay have gone crazy lately....i have even seen some of the models sell for over 25 pounds........mainly i think the problem is because they are not available in the shops unless the shopkeeper buys them......and the fact that Fabbri ordering system leaves alot to be deired..........there is a good supplier named chris who is very fair on price......give him a call.....email is chris.clarke@gr8models.co.uk he is still a bit expensive, but much cheaper than ebay.......tell him you got his name from me, Fred......he might let me have them a bit cheaper lol

i am sure evryones list will be different but here;s mine:

    best....
    115 austin cambridge
    100 ford crown
    99 range rover
    97 rolls phantom
    10 ferrari
    26 lada 1500
    59 hispano-suiza
    71 mini
    92 lasalle
    86 renault

    worst:
    84 dragon tank
    95 kawasaki
    108 econoline
    111 thunderbird
    64 bentley
    89 anglia
    31 moon buggy
    91 ford edge
    93 osprey
    106 ford consul

Good advice from yourmovemrbond - if you want a complete set, they do appear on eBay from time to time, or someone here may be 'jumping ship' and have a set to sell. Just be careful to check none of the plastic cases are cracked - they are a nightmare to replace.

I couldn't think of ten 'worst' models, I'm not sure there's really that many, so I came up with five I've had no interest in so far:

    111 Thunderbird
    102 Bondola
    29 Tuk Tuk
    46 Octopussy Jeep
    114 London Taxi

And the five I've found the most interesting:

    3 Lotus Sub
    14 Daylights Vantage
    21 OHMSS Cougar
    25 GF DB5
    110 Quantum DBS

@moviecarfun I agree with you: not bad but not so interesting!!!

...In my collection the main place is that one of a wonderful corgi original db5, than I have the corgi toyota 20000gt still very beautiful and an orrible v8 vantage 1 36....I hope to improve my jb collection!

...I was thiking...but is it possible to use the FABBRI "bck issues" service to buy all the models?
:( :( ....Noone want to sell the entire collection...too much gorgeous!! :)) :))

Trying to have an idea of the quality of the collection with pictures I elect my favourite model in the " beach buggy "and than in the dbs and triumph stag, and last but not least the range convertible! I like a lot also all the models not properly "car" like the q boat, acrostar, hovercraft and parahawk...they are really bond!!

I do not like the two taxis ( checker and fx-4) cause they are anonimous and too much similar to another partwork!

Obviously I speak without having any car in my hand and I can be eaily gainsaid!!!

How do you consider the level of quality? something like a minichamps, an ixo/altaya or a bit less?

hi jb88.......a word of advice from someone who has been into the collection for 5 years( can that really be true!!!)......look out for collections on ebay......you can pick up a decent amount of cars for a pretty reasonable price these days......it is possible to order them from fabbri, but in my experience, the venture is fraught with troubles.....in the past, i have paid for cars and not got them........i have got cars when i have not paid for them....i have had orders sent wrongly....i lost count of the times i had to send back with cracked cases.......also, they got into the habit of sending the car and magazine separately..............and also, when there is a problem and you have to ring them........no, i wont go into that.........yep, spend a bit of time bargain hunting on ebay....you will save alot of money....and hassle...........as for all the new issues, already told you where to get them.......good luck

Problem is that jb88 is from Italy. It is not possible to get the cars via back order directly from Fabbri if you are not from UK or Ireland. Same with the German publication: you can only order from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg but not from other countries.

Buying a complete collection from the UK is also a problem. Most won't even post the cars - collection only. Which is quite understandable as postage for 50 or more cars would cost a fortune - and that would be within the UK; now think of postage to Italy ...

Quality is not like Minichamps (but not all Minichamps Bond cars are that great either) - but then you pay a fraction for a car and get a nice diorama and (well, not always) figures which enhance the appearance of the model considerably. So some things can be overlooked for the price, but others are definately terrible (like the Ford GT40 and the Audi 200). Good question of the 10 best and worst models, have to think about that and will post my thoughts later.

It sounds like buying smaller numbers - 5 or 10 models at a time - from a trader like yourmovemrbond recommended might be the easiest way of building a collection. I'm sure somebody in one of the participating countries would ship to Italy. Alternatively, I wonder if Italy has 'toyfairs' where they could be sourced?

The quality of the JBCC models has always reminded me of Vitesse, a few wonky bits but generally well detailed and nicely finished. I agree they are not up to Minichamps' quality standards (or price!!)
  • jb88jb88 ITALYPosts: 51MI6 Agent
yes, I think that there could be some toy fairs but if the price of a model in italy is between 25- 30 euro...I don't know how cheaper could they be in a toy fair...but I can try!!!
I'm from Siena and when they came to film I thought that we will be submerged by bond toys and similars...but it was and it is not!!! X-(
Funny to see my city in the last Bond movie!!! :)

However, please send me an e mail - YOU ALL - if you know that someone wants to sell his collection!

    My e mail is: checco88.fpv@hotmail.it

Stag is definately not one of the best models! In fact UH model is the worst of all the diecast stags I have ever seen. :(

If you can get someone selling a whole collection in the UK I suspect that you would need to expllore Italian shipping companies with regular UK runs - the same people that do furniture removals - luckily Italy and UK are in EC so should be no customs duties.

Welcome jb88. It is a pity some countries never got the JBCC. I was just having a browse on ebay and there are some UK sellers with cars from £5.99 and you save on postage if you buy more than 3 cars.

For a time I bought from a guy who sold them for 20 euros each, I have 50, but I'm seeing cheaper on Ebay, and I keep buying on Ebay, although at 15 euros

+1 . Yes, the Stag is not very well proportioned. The Matchbox Dinky and Corgi Vanguards models are much better proportioned, and there are others out there too at higher prices.

    My top 10:

    1) Range Rover Convertible
    2) Renault 11 cut in half
    3) Aston V8 Vantage Coupe with skis
    4) Acrostar jet
    5) Ford Country Squire
    6) Lotus Turbo Esprit, copper
    7) Rolls Royce Phantom 3
    8) Lotus Esprit Submarine
    9) Citroen 2CV
    10) Lamborghini Diablo - good model of a wonderful car, in a scene which I still find seriously amusing

    Bottom 10:

    1) "Daimler Super V8" - totally wrong car bearing no relation to the one in the film
    2) Aston Martin V8 Volante - totally wrong rear end
    3) Aston Martin DBS QOS - not a great model, other companies do a way better job and bargains can nbe found.
    4) Aston Martin DBS Casino Royale - as above
    5) Alfa 159 - as above
    6) BMW Z8 - as above, but this is a more extreme case
    7) Ford GT40 - as above
    8) Bondola - wrong scale
    9) T55 tank - wrong scale
    10) Triumph Stag - wrong proportions.

I remain happy with the collection and my subscription.
