1) The car is unquestionably 1/43 scale.
2) No figures.
3) Still too difficult to tell due to angle about the rear of the car.
4) Looking at the top and rear of the roof, it appears to be black vinyl.
Definitely a "car-centric's" car, but very well done and I will be ordering one.
Definitely a "car-centric's" car, but very well done and I will be ordering one.
I think this one's going to be popular on all sorts of levels beyond Bond - its sheer size, Americana, Presidential limo connections and of course, it's reminiscent of the Corgi and Dinky 'stretch limos' produced in the 60's.
I wonder in this case, whether EMFabbri actually decided NOT to include figures for the sake of the car-centric market. No doubt many car-centrics would want to remove any figures, which is impossible to do without at the very least leaving super-glue marks on the seats.
I would agree with that, MovieCarFan, and would also like to add something: although it's still a toss-up about the beltline on the rear part of the car (for lack of a better description, the left side looks wrong and the right side looks correct!). I figure I'll let you be the judge. Here's an original advertisement from Lehmann-Peterson that has a terrific view of the car...
Note how surprisingly good the roof looks. The taillights actually look very good, but as I said, I still can't make out the beltline because one looks good and the other looks bad. If I had to guess, it's somewhere in between but not as bad as the left photo seems or as good as the right photo seems. Still, it's comparatively minor enough that I've no qualms buying it.
There's still the matter of the chrome strips just fore of the front wheels, but I believe those can almost certainly be painted on.

As you say, it's very hard to tell much from the photos available so far, but I would hazard a guess that it may be down to the belt line being tampo printed on and maybe being a bit 'hit and miss'. I came across this problem with the stock JB Lotus Esprit model (issue 16) - on some examples the alignment of the printed 'striping' was off, making the wheel arches look odd. In the case of the Lincoln, hopefully the rear fender/wing shape is level, in which case it's a matter of finding one with really good printing alignment. What would be a real bummer is getting one of these models with one side printed perfectly and the other side being slightly off!!
Can anyone give me the dimensions of the boxes the cars & mags is sent in?? ..I'm not sure how you measure them e: Length, Width or what...Thanx -{ :007)
I've received models from Database in three different type and size boxes, but the most common one is the 'collapsible' type, the size of the magazine by the depth of the smaller case, so: 295mm long X 225mm wide X 90mm deep. The only problem with that one is that it's useless for shipping the taller cases, they end up cracked in transit.
Back on the Lincoln, here's another pic from eBay:

Almost forgot - there's a rumour on another forum that the series will be extended to 150. I did ask The Database Factory last week if the series might include 'Skyfall'. The guy's response was "If the series continues to sell well, I wouldn't put it past them" So I asked how sales were going, and he said "Very well".

I picked it up on the 'MI6 Community' site, page 7, towards the end:
I should stress it is only a rumour, but it would be good if it's true. Whilst I personally think the missing piece of the collection has been filled with the GF Merc, it's obvious from looking at our forum's 'wish list' there's plenty more goodies for EMFabbri to choose from beyond any Skyfall cars. I totally agree about the figures, most of them are as intricate and well detailed as the cars, so it would be great to see more of them included. Pricewise, I'd be happy to run to £10 or so per issue, but that's just me.
I'd also be happy to pay a lot more for a 'special' if EMFabbri chose to commission one - say £20 for something like this:

Here's a slightly different third eBay pic of the Lincoln - again, it looks like the roof is painted silk finish to represent vinyl but again, the beltline on the rear wing/fender doesn't look quite right. I'm still buying one though.....
I have a feeling I'm going to actually have this one in hand to see if they got the beltline wrong...once again, if you cover up the fender closest to the camera, it looks okay, but if you cover up the one furthest from the camera, it looks problematic.
To be honest, I don't think it's all that bad; the main problems seem to be with the actual chrome paint JUST fore of the taillights rather than the body. if you keep it level, that would be pretty easy to overlook.
Unfortunately, the photo does reveal one flaw: the shape of the rear door. It's off (not by much, but it is) and the upward curve should start a little sooner. I'm guessing as I stare at the model, this will probably be more noticeable than the beltline itself.

It will be interesting to hear what you make of the Lincoln once you have one. I'm a bit surprised no-one's posted some good photos of it yet, albeit off another forum, bearing in mind it's been available on eBay for a while now.
I received the GF Merc the other day. The licence plate is incorrect (9641 went off the cliff) but it's a nice model. I like the grille with its incredibly fine emblem and the yellow light lenses. The interior 'leather' look is convincing. Diorama-wise the crates are odd, the raised pieces of wood at the ends should be at 90 degrees to the inset 'lines', and it's all a bit too clean - tyre marks and stains on the road would have been nice. But, IMHO the diorama is a step in the right direction and it's great to have a GF 'badguy' Merc in the series.
No figures with the '64 Lincoln Continental Lehmann-Peterson Type 53A. However, consider this: a HUGE amount of these that don't go to subscribers, and possibly even a majority, will wind up in the United States. I can tell you right here and now that the car would sell literally dozens of times better here without a figure of a guy in drag in the back. It's not personal or political if we do have anyone living that kind of lifestyle here, but this is the kind of car that gets associated with Hugh Hefner (since I believe he owns a Type 53A, though not sure of year), not a cross-dressing man. It's just how the car is marketed.

It would probably sell even better if they put little bunny girl figures in it then!!!!!
Seriously, a small figure wearing a widow's black veil might look very odd - a bit like someone covered head to toe in a black bin liner. A driver figure should be very easy to add from any spare JBCC vehicles though.
No figures i'm afraid, but still a very good model .The car measures about 146mm in length&41mm in width. The case is 187mmx82mmx76mm(LxWxH).I don't know how accurate it is,but its Well worth the money, this one.
Winnie, yes, it's 1/43 scale then, no doubts. It's literally 1mm shorter and about 2mm thinner (although I measured using the rather wide trim around the wheels) than the Ixo 1967 Continental. This confirms to me that they used the same baseplate, so it's a partially re-used mould, but from what I can tell, they did do a solid job.

Well, that one I'VE actually done...the body in the trunk of the KGB GAZ-13 Chayka.
But seriously, I actually think I have just the figure: a beekeeper. No really, I'm being serious. Preiser or some other figure specialist did a 1/45 scale (close enough) beekeeper; I can't see why you couldn't take a sitting bride figure, remove the head, and attach the beekeeper head. Put some contour putty around the beekeeper's hat, cut it down a bit with an X-Acto knife, repaint the figure, and it would look appropriate. BM-Toys in Russia will also make any figure you want them to out of pewter, although they're not cheap. Still, the sculpting is great and they are worth it.
Wooow! I haven't been on here for waaay too long. How come that at a certain moment the forum always stops sending me e-mails when someone post a new reply?
I have just collected my Lincoln, next model will be the Mercedes 450SEL from FYEO.
I got my Lincoln on Friday 18th from Forbidden Planet.
While the baseplate correctly states it is from the film Thunderball , for some inexplicable reason
the film titles in various languages on the back of the card say "For Your Eyes Only" -
duh! a bit of a slip-up there methinks !
Well, I got the Lincoln Continental today and I must say I'm a bit disappointed. I guess one could call it similar to the London Taxi in how the back end was poorly reshaped from an existing mould. First, let's take a look at the car that we SHOULD have seen, which I believe is important enough and a clear enough picture to repost it from the last page...
Now, keeping that in mind, take a look at why the beltline looked so strange...the car in the foreground is the 1967 Lincoln Continental by Ixo, which is a really nicely done model. The car in the background is the Bond Continental.
Seeing some similarities? I think we know why the beltline looked so odd now.
'67 is on the left, '64 on the right. Compare the '64 to the picture of the real '64 Lehmann-Peterson Continental.
Finally, we get to one of the car's better points: the front. This part was actually pretty nicely done.
The car is FAR from terrible and indeed, I would say it's at least passable and usable, but judging by the anticipation buildup to this one, I know some people will be let down.
One oddity, by the way: this is the first model I've seen with NO manufacturer (Ocean Metal Factory, Ixo, or UH) listed on the box. It just says Eaglemoss Copyright 2012. I will however note that it WAS made by Ixo...the base is actually stamped as such.

Is this the same for everyone? I feel a replacement will be in order! Maybe just a replacement diorama....

Good to see some clear photos of the Lincoln, thanks for posting D110 {[]
My own feelings are that the Lincoln is still a decent model, certainly not flawed to the degree of Oddjob's Ranchero or the peculiar LD Volante. I'd imagine it will still be a popular model amongst all the various Bond and model car fans.
(By the way D110 - love to see 'the body in the boot' if you get the chance to post a pic!)

I've seen this mentioned on another forum, so I fear it may be the same for all. Sounds like a slap round the head with a wet fish is due for someone in the graphics department. It's possible the FYEO Merc next up may very well come with 'Thunderball' plastered all over the back of the card.

I agree completely. And actually, they got the dimensions right; the only issues that exist are with the back end of the car. I honestly hope they try a regular '64 Continental for their PremiumX Diecast line, seeing as it would 1) sell and 2) the modifications they made to the front of the car are quite frankly superb.
(By the way D110 - love to see 'the body in the boot' if you get the chance to post a pic!)
Ya mean this one (the Corgi Jag as the police car has since been replaced by a Borgward Isabella in West German Polizei livery)?
Great little diorama there. The figures are very expressive - where did you get them from?
If you don't mind me asking, are table top layouts a common way of displaying 1.43 car collections in the States? Over here in the UK most people seem to display their collections loose in cabinets or stacked in their original packaging. British model train enthusiasts usually have table top layouts but the vehicles are so small they tend to be regarded as accessories rather than primary display items.

The figures are all hand-painted by my father. The two guys opening the trunk and the body are Plasticville-based, but custom made by Dad. The rest of the figures are a mixture of Plasticville 1/43 and Preiser Figuren 1/45. I obtained the Plasticville from various sources, though a ton of it comes from the bi-annual York, PA train show and the Preiser figures come exclusively from there.

Layouts, in one way or another, are extremely common. You'll get TONS of dioramas without model trains, but also being a model train enthusiast, I mixed that in. Those people I know who collect both model cars and O Gauge model trains typically do mix the two, as well.
I have just been to a newsagent’s and noticed the Austin London cab on the partwork shelf. First I thought it was a late JBCC arrival, but it turns out that a new partwork is being released: http://www.taxisfromaroundtheworld.com/. I have not had a good look at the model yet, but suspect it is Ixo, because it is very similar to the JBCC model, though it looks much better – no horrible “AUSTIN” logo on the boot, and the rear lights are made of transparent plastic rather than just painted on. At only $4.95 (introductory price) I had to buy two. Will compare them with the JBCC car later – perhaps it will be possible to obtain a better model by combining the two, (with some Code 3 work).

Wow! I think you owe your dad a beer (or several) for helping out with the figures!
Talking about the Stateside layouts, I guess it explains why many collectors over there take the JBCC models out of their boxes. Because we don't go in for layouts so much this side of the pond, the dioramas and bases are a novelty whereas US collectors are no doubt used to creating their own and adding to them. I would imagine the larger scale rail sets in the US are a factor too, with 1.43 scale cars looking good with them, but probably the major difference is the room needed to house these displays. In the UK we're pretty cramped for space, with generally small houses on small plots of land, hence layouts tending to be tiny OO gauge.
Comments
To me, this shows four different things...
1) The car is unquestionably 1/43 scale.
2) No figures.
3) Still too difficult to tell due to angle about the rear of the car.
4) Looking at the top and rear of the roof, it appears to be black vinyl.

yes, the price has stayed the same since the series started ( must be over 4 years now) which is an achievement on its own........maybe thats why we are not getting decent dioramas anymore.......i for one would certainly be willing to pay a bit more for better dioramas with figures.......and as for the "what the ***" diorama......well specials like this would be incredible...........come-on Eaglemoss, its time to show us your credentials!!!....we have shown you how loyal we are.........payback time!!!....make us PROUD
I don't suppose there were any figures inside this one?
It would probably sell even better if they put little bunny girl figures in it then!!!!!
Seriously, a small figure wearing a widow's black veil might look very odd - a bit like someone covered head to toe in a black bin liner. A driver figure should be very easy to add from any spare JBCC vehicles though.
Considering I know a guy who did this with the Ixo '67 Lincoln Continental, I imagine it would! )
Bleuville.
