The hubcaps upon further research do seem pretty problematic regarding the "opening-door" Hongwell. Unfortunately, the closed door version also has issues; the hubcaps seem to be just chrome-colored disks. Any possible replacements (possibly by Ixo or even the UH JBCC Ford Anglia)?
The Cararama Corsair appears to be fitted with Californian chrome Moondiscs for some reason. As you know, 60s UK cars did not have full 'wheel covers' as fitted now, they had 'hubcaps' covering the wheel nut area and sometimes a separate ventilated chrome trim ring around the hubcap which gave the overall chrome wheelcover effect, as in the 'Corsair for sale' link I posted. Cararama's Mk1 Cortina replicates this quite well, and the wheels should be the correct size for the Corsair (this was during the wonderful era when just about everything was interchangeable on UK Fords) so I'd recommend trying a straight swap. Even the sports wheels off the Cararama Mk1 Capri are a possibility (no doubt some Corsair owners would have put them on) - it depends how 'stock' you want your model to look.
Apologies for appearing to be off-topic, but Maz says the Corsair did appear in Bond films, so blame him!

Thanks for the tip! I have the Corgi Mk. I Cortina as well in three different iterations, including one that's falling apart. You think that would fit the bill?

The wheels on Corgi's early Cortina Mk1s were slightly oversized - not sure if they've been corrected since Vanguards took over - but I'd say give it a try and see how one of them looks, I'm guessing they're all push/pull fit.
This is correct. Like I said, one is falling apart and I have three, so this would be the best model to sacrifice. It is indeed pre-Vanguards and has the oversized wheels, but on the other hand it's completely free and also would still likely be an improvement over the existing wheels.
Corsair was only an exercise in re-use of Cortina chassis with a dearer price tag and thunderbird type front end. As far as wheels go I shudder to think what corgi Cortina wheels would improve. Hongwell will be cheapest though detail cars or even solidly would be better than corgi.
Corsairs must have been popular in Norway since both the wm and hongwell were originally aimed at this market.

Let us see your pics when done
Btw background car in thunderball in paris
Yep the corsair, classic, cortina were all produced side by side all sharing the same chassis and engines. The cortina won sales and the other two were short lived and soon dropped from the range
Unfortunately even zoomed at 400% the reflections on the glass stop any chance of seeing so it would be a case of DVD and careful use of the remote control I guess..
BTW when I rang database warehouse to order the Minor and Ranch Wagon I asked again about 135 and the person answering it sounded pretty unequivocal about it this time definately only 135. This time I think I believe it too.
Will definitately post pics, although I'm going to put buying a Corsair on hold. Apparently, they're going through the still-operating International Post Office at JFK Airport in New York City regarding British goods. They're operating at vastly-reduced capacity, though, and that means a big risk of losing your package.

Meanwhile back at the Ford Ranch Wagon. I picked up my 2 examples and they come in
2 parts - the bodywork and the chassis, also detached from the baseplate.
I think I'll have to get the superglue out !
I was given 10% off by the shop as it was damaged goods.

Bleuville.
Interesting. My dealer has also mentioned that a number have detached from their baseplates and inspected mine before shipping to make sure this didn't happen. A shame; they do seem to be very good models or at the very least potentially very good models.
Has anybody out there got an unwanted base and backing card for the Living Daylights Lada 2105 (issue 118) for sale, or swap for spare cars? Please PM me if you do........
Well, I've got a Bond car quiz on the James Bond Trivia Section of ajb007. I figure it's sort of related to this just enough that I might as well invite you fellas over.
Sorry, don't know of one. Will let you know if I do.
With the Milk float will we get a Message announcing the extension from 130 to 135?
As there's been no official notice-just the grape vine and appearances of models.
I would imagine they'd put a five-car extension announcement in there since prior to the 135 extension, they said it would end at 130 (and mention that this new extension contains cars from SF, etc.). On the other hand, they're only adding in five cars (two of which are pretty painfully obvious filler). I wonder how they do end the partwork, incidentally; what message they include with 134 and 135. "James Bond will Return" would be cool but unlikely. Coupons for the next partwork maybe? An announcement for what their next car partwork will be? Who knows.

For subscribers they could say-"We're debiting your card for another 5 years ! (joking and highly unlikely)
They are quite likely to send a "we are automatically subscribing you to our new miniature shoes part work - you need do nothing we will carry on emptying your bank account".... LOL.

Okay, so I got my Ford Ranch Wagon. Terrific car! And I also measured the "gunsight" fender ornaments regarding width, length, and also distance from the bottom of the stalk to the top of the ornament.
-Width: 1.75mm
In other words, just over 7 and a half centimeters when multiplied by 43. That's actually pretty close to the real one, though it was smaller by about 1cm-1.5cm.
-Length: 0.75mm
That gives us 32.25mm in terms of length, which is actually once again pretty close to the real thing (it would have been closer to 25mm).
-Distance from the bottom of the stalk to the top of the ornament: 3mm
At nearly 13cm, THIS is what kills it. Not the ornaments themselves, the stalks. In real life, they would have been far shorter; just a few millimeters off the top of the fender ornament. Therefore, a suggested fix to get your car more realistic would be to clip off the "gunsight" parts of the ornament, remove the stalks completely, and then glue the "gunsights" directly onto the base of the ornaments (which itself is actually correctly sized).
Notice how short the stalks are on this correctly-restored 1960 Ford Galaxie Sunliner...

Kind of difficult to believe they would end on the repainted Roller which is currently listed as 135 on Wikipedia. When it seemed they were going to finish at 110, at least they were trying to end with a 'special', the damaged QOS DBS. I know it wasn't a big hit with everyone, but it was clear they were making an effort to come up with something interesting. With no sign of anything beyond 135, will the whole thing just end on a whimper? If it has to be another UH Rolls, maybe they could have given us Goldfinger's RR Phantom with some gold plated parts being exposed.

I've asked around with several large dealers. When there was the extension to 130, virtually none of them thought it would end there. At first, when they had the 135 extension, none thought it would end there, either. But now? They pretty much all think it's going to end there.
The collection could be endless like Bond is eternal.
1) Welcome back to the thread!
2) Unfortunately, try telling that to Eaglemoss, Universal Hobbies, Ixo, or Norev, whom I'd love to see brought back in at this point...
I think that the reason that the collection is ending with a whimper is that Eaglemoss never expected to end at 135 but seem to have messed up getting suppliers to provide more models for the series to go on. Hence the Wikipedia entry going up to 140 and then being pulled back to 135 late in the day. I suspect that they have no choice but to end at 135 because UH are not interested in doing anything outside contracted items and IXO seem no longer to wish to produce for the work. Dalko 110 is right there are other suppliers like Norev but not sure that they will want to get into bed with someone (Fabbri/Eaglemoss) who is a proven meanie and has had two divorces already!
Another explanation is that EON have pulled plug on licensing but am not convinced on that as long as Eaglemoss paid them cash it was money for old rope and didnt really compete with other licencees either.
I have no evidence for these assertions since Fabbri/Eaglemoss do not communicate at all they just seem to be the most likely circumstances.
Am looking forward to getting my ranch wagon and examining the gun sights
Hi Guys,
Just collected the latest addition to the JBCC...
"The Wales & Edwards Rangemaster Milk Float"
Hope you like the photos.
Issue 131 will be the "Chevrolet Bell Air Police Car of the Louisiana State Police" from 'Live And Let Die'.
Simply 'Fantastic'
This is what I call a gem and makes this part work stand out from any other part work. There is no other subject matter that can appeal to so many levels of interest with such a wide a varied array of vehicles. The DB5 to a Milk float! I would not buy a milk float for any other reason but it is a must in the collection. Well done James Bond Car Collection !
Issue 135 the end , is it ? Looks like it but what a damp squid of issue a repainted roller.
Come on Eaglemoss do the right thing and give us the loyal subscribers something that will be a fitting end to this amazing collection. I agree with MCF albeit I did not like the aston martin missing a door it was a better conclusion to end on.
I want a special , the GF lazer gun, milk float even are two options that could have fitted the bill but were issued as a normal edition.
I also believe we deserve formal notice regarding any ending ???

I second that.
You're absolutely right, and it's in grey like my Dad's:

Wasn't the TB Corsair discussed ages ago, whether it was 2 or 4 door??

Great photos of what looks like a great model!
Aside can anybody help I am looking for 1/43 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 model.
Cheers
