Hi, here are some pics of a Corgi American La France that I have chopped and rebuilt to look like the one from A View to A Kill. I still need to add a beacon light and the San Fran. fire logo, I need help obtaining the artwork, if anyone has any ideas that would be great, more to come!

Fantastic ! Where did you get the figure from?

I got the figures from ebay O scale train figures, I think they are from Germany. The figures came in a package with many others. I cut the arms off and position them as I need them, sometimes I give them a bit of heat with a torch light and they bend pretty easily.
The big work on the La France came when I cut the cab down, from three windows to two, and fabricated the box just behind the cab.

Here are some pics of my version of the Live and Let Die bus. I used a large scale Corgi as the base. The top section simply unscrewed and I roughly cut a cookie tin to get the ripped metal effect.

    Sorry for the double post

Hey there 123James can you please tell us more about your models, like what vehicles they are, especially the millitary ones and what base model/manufacturer you used
    Thanks

Here are some pics of the TLD Kenworth. I did extensive work to the sleeper cab to make it match the movie version. As you may have seen the one you can buy has a much bigger, newer style sleeper. It is made of plastic so it was not bad to work with.

123James, thanks for the infomation, can these models be found on ebay?

Maybe our Mr. Dalko can help with sourcing some of the eastern block stuff?

SWJ, your stuff is fantastic as well, can you tell us more about the models and where to find them?

Thanks to everyone this is still going to be fun for a long time! Maybe eaglemoss will get series 2 going soon, all they need to do is take a good look at this thread...it's a no brainer for them!!!

this is just a test to see if this image transfers or not. I dont have a printer just now so i cant speak for the scaling, but if someone prints this out and it looks right with the model, then maybe i can do more. No doubt there are a few Code 3 suggestions for backgrounds.SKYFALL_2.jpg

well that worked!!, you can at least copy it to your folders, the scales should be pretty close. I used the Little Nellie diarama figures as a scale reference. Let me know if its on the money or way off, i can always adjust them.

That is b****y fantastic!!! I said you have a rare talent for this work! Thanks so much for doing that one - I'm going to do my own take on the Skyfall DB5, but having seen your background artwork, I think a second variant using this is in order!

The code3s are coming so thick and fast now, it's getting hard to keep up. It's terrific to see all these, Diecast007 is going to have his work cut out for him trying to keep his list updated. Canuck007 and 123James - brilliant stuff!

Gladly! I hate to correct 123James, but...

"USSR Russian Jeep UAZ-469A (Goldeneye + Tomorrow never dies) + USSR Russian Jeep UAZ-469B (The world is not enough)"

No such vehicle as an "UAZ-469A" exists. The production went straight from UAZ-469 to UAZ-469B (the difference is in height off the ground). The only appearance an UAZ-469 makes is in Die Another Day as one of the North Korean-marked UAZ-469's (it's the most prominent one featured). The UAZ-3151 and UAZ-31512 have different engines and electrical systems but are externally identical to the UAZ-469 and UAZ-469B, respectively. The latter shows up in Goldeneye along with the UAZ-469B.

"USSR Ural 4320 Truck (Tomorrow never dies)"

Doesn't show up. Unfortunately, the Ural-375D that does isn't made by anyone in 1/43 scale. Ixo is scheduled to release one (ironically) for their Atlas DDR Nutzfahrzeuge Kollektion partwork, however. The grilles are very different on both vehicles. The Ural-4320 is also a diesel-engined truck while the Ural-375D is gasoline-powered.

"USSR Zil 131 Truck (Die another day)"

Also briefly in Tomorrow Never Dies.

"USSR Volga Gaz VB Police Foxtoys (The living daylights)"

Actually, only Lada 1500's and Lada 1600's appeared as Verejna Bezpecnost patrol cars in The Living Daylights. This one is a very good model of a real Lada 1500, but the cars that were mocked up, well, weren't. They actually did do a decent job mocking up the Lada 1600's, and if you have the decals, a spare siren (you can get one off a factory second Ixo East Bloc police car...they're the combination siren/blue flashers) and paint, you CAN make one of these out of a VAZ-2106 model (the SSSR AvtoLegendy civilian model is best).

We can also glimpse an UAZ-469 (the original) in Czechoslovakian Army livery very briefly in The Living Daylights. All you need to do here is take the Ixo-for-Nash Avtoprom model, put Czechoslovakian Army decals on each door, and you're set. The tires were also caked with snow, so you could make that into a pretty neat diorama. General Pushkin's car in Bratislava in the same film can be recreated by using the SSSR AvtoLegendy GAZ-3102 Volga and literally just putting on new license plates.

We also see a Robur LO 3000 East German truck get knocked over by jet engine exhaust in Tomorrow Never Dies. You can make one fairly easily out of the Ixo-for Atlas DDR Nutzfahrzeuge Robur LD 3001. From the same movie and partwork, a rusted out IFA W50L appears in the slums of Vietnam. I'd love to see that one done, if only because the weathering would be very challenging (the grille bars were literally missing).
By the way, are you gonna eat that?

Anyone here have any spare case tops? Looking only for the earlier, standard size.

With the series ending I'm reviewing the collection and realizing I should make some upgrades here and there (when it was only 50-60 models and a few were cracked at the back, I could live with, now with the bulk in good order, I'd like them all to be up to snuff).

Also looking for the corresponding blisters; for now the models are being stored and I'm using the blisters to keep the cases from getting scratched.

Also, are there any other series I could pick-up to use as replacements? I'm not adverse to buying some other Fabbri models just for the cases.

Getting hold of undamaged replacement cases is very tricky, unfortunately. My advice would be to ask a decent dealer in the UK such as Chris Clark (Dalko has his details) to get you some fresh models. I would choose models that can be sold easily on in the US without the cases, or with your cracked cases swapped over onto them. Again, I dare say Dalko could advise which ones are really popular with US collectors who aren't fussed about the cases.
Be wary of eBay, the majority of sellers don't seem to understand 'undamaged cases' or even if they do, they're equally likely to send your model in a jiffy bag resulting in a cracked case.
I'd also caution about the blister packs too. I bought a JBCC model recently that had been stored unopened in the blister pack. When I opened it, the case had no cracks but the four corners on the top of the case had been rubbed to an opaque finish where the blister pack had been in contact with it. Personally, I take all of my JBCC models out of the transit blisters and put them in clear protective cellophane bags like DC/Marvel type comic bags, which seems to work.

Well thank you for saying so. i wont make anymore just yet untill someone prints that out and tells me if it worked or not. As i said, i was working "blind" scale wise. One i would like to do is for the Lincoln convertable from Goldfinger. I think their hedge and tiny plane in the sky was a bit cheap considering what else was in that scene. We`ll see how it goes, but i do enjoy making them. Thanks again for the praise. Very encouraging . :)

I had been buying from Chris but found another seller whose prices were more reasonable but who, at this point, is really only able to get the later models (90 and up). Again, I'm thinking if I could find some other Fabbri series that uses the same plinth size and isn't selling at the price point of the Bond models, that would be the way to go.

I hear you about the blisters but that's really only going to be a problem were the models being subject to vibration (such as during shipping) and, besides, a little plastic polish and the hazing is gone (I've even sanded- and polished-out defects in clear styrene -- the material used for the cases -- windshields, etc. with excellent results).

If I'm not able to get more blisters, I do own a shrink wrap system and may go that route but I'm not looking forward to reworking 134 models (plus I have some concern that I could warp a top or two).

I think the blister rubbing problem may be due to storage in large boxes where JBCC models are packed on their sides or ends. That would allow 'side to side' rubbing between the plastic case and the blister when the box is moved - most likely a problem with cars bought from dealers who regularly attend toyfairs and shift their stock around a lot. I've seen it mostly on earlier models, especially where the blister card itself looks a bit grubby and has seen better days.

I haven't seen any other plastic cases of a similar size, most 'plinth' type boxes seem to be smaller and most non-JBCC diorama boxes seem to be bigger. If anybody does know of a source of JBCC clear tops, I think they'll make new friends if they want to share the info - I could do with a few myself for code3s!

One that a lot of people on this thread have mentioned is the Aston Martin 'Vanish' as seen in the London Underground scene in Die Another Day:

A background like that would be fantastic, either with the model car visible or 'invisible'!

That wouldn't be difficult ... use the OP Benz diorama as the base, simple flatcar.

But that got me to thinking: How, exactly, is the Vanquish delivered? The flatcar is just that: flat. There's no control box, handbrake, nothing.

Probably the wrong forum for this particular question ...

I've printed off the skyfall background and it is perfect. Yes I am with Moviecarfan a background for the vanish in the underground would be brilliant. I am also looking to do another for the vauxhall Astra met police car as seen in skyfall. There is a nice scene of the car

DeAgostini Police Cars of the World. It was a multi-company partwork (at least until Amercom got distribution rights), but that particular model was done by Universal Hobbies, I believe.

EDIT: Yep, it was a UH model. Which makes me surprised as to why we never saw it in the JBCC; it was a good model. I'd have rather had that than the Lincoln Continental Convertible or the Blunderbird, honestly.
By the way, are you gonna eat that?

How on earth did the JBCC allow a vehicle as pretty as that one to slip through the net, especially when according to Dalko UH most likely had it available?! Why wasn't it on our 'wish-list'?? I was so impressed by your model I went on eBay this morning and bought one myself! Many thanks DC007 and Tony Ericsson {[]

Dalko - I'm not surprised it took so long to take photos of such a huge layout, it looks amazing, thanks for posting the pics B-) Any idea how many cars you've got now? Will you be buying the Emoss '66 Batmobile? Apparently people are running around in exact replicas of it in the US, so it could feasibly go on your layout with a 'civilian' driver.........
