Absolutely fantastic they are brilliant . Thank you
I second that - amazing work!
Glad you like them, always happy to help out. Just one thing. If you use them and they do work out the way i hoped, could you post a photo for me to see please? Without a scanner or printer, it`ll be a while before i get to use them myself. Thank you for your kind words and please keep your suggestions coming. I could be that this forum is far from over yet
Ok another request from me . I would like the stromberg helicopter (corgi) in a similar box to the jbcc. Ideally the view from the helicopter of bonds lotus falling into the sea .
I found this online so i guess the lotus would need to be reversed and the helicopter removed from the image. I would like to give the impression the helicopter is flying so plan to use the larger box that the dodge laser truck came in
Can you help with this Tony.
I have tried your latest images and they are fine . Great work. I can see my bank balance still taking a hit with this unofficial jbcc code 3's . I have about six ongoing projects plus another six or more in waiting.

In case anyone missed my layout photos since there's been so much posting activity (which is good, don't get me wrong!) they're on the lower-middle of page 233. Any questions, comments, criticisms...go right ahead!
I remember the photos you posted a few years back. That is one collection. What floor space does your layout cover. I like how you have incorporated various vehicles into mini scenarios.
One or more of the pictures reminded me of rush hour on a local route near her every morning ie standstill nose to tail. Great stuff

Thanks! Regarding floorspace, I have it written down somewhere due to a bunch of odd extensions, nooks and crannies. Well over 50 square feet, for sure. Glad you like the bumper-to-bumper look! It was the only way I could fit everything on there!

So let me get this straight, do you mean that tha base of the display would be a view looking down on the Lotus as it goes into the sea and the background would be of the coastline and sky?
Or......and i`m really hoping its this, take out the helicopter from that shot and leave in the Lotus?

Oh, and why reverse the Lotus?
Is this the sort of thing you wanted? I painted out the helicopter and made the sky large enough to display your model against. If its not what you had in mind, let me know.

The picture you've made above is what I meant. Can you size it the same as the one you did for the tank t55? How is the skyfall Astra image coming on ?. These backgrounds are fab

Sure can, that one was just a quick mock-up to see if i was understanding you right. I wonder if you could do something for me that would really help me make these backgrounds in the long term. As you know, i dont have a scanner/printer so I`m doing alot of this by guess work. Could you scan the three most used backgrounds to fit the A4 print out sheets and post them so i can copy them to file for future use as templates? By that i mean the standard size, the long box and the tall ones as used for the Goldfinger ambulance. In fact any size that could be used will be a great help to me and will, of course mean less resizing for anyone wishing to use the backgrounds i make in future. Many thanks. The Astra from Skyfall? It may take a little time as the only picture i have so far of that scene is very, very small and taken from a high viewpoint. I`ll need to collect the seperate elements that make up that scene, Whitehall street, fire engine and so on and compose them together like the T55 background. But it will be done. But if you could post those different sized backgrounds, that will be a ton of help with what i am doing. Cheers! {[]

No problem if you pm your address I will do that for you no problem
Tony did you get my private message ? Cheers diecast007
Messages received and backgrounds complete. Once again, if someone can do a black & white cheap printout first to check the scale and perspectives and let me know if changes are needed,( I`ve been doing it by holding the model against the PC screen. Lo-tech or what?). Hope they work out for you. Gonna have a look at the Skyfall police car scene that was requested now.
The Living Daylights Impala is finished, after just about a year (I’m quick to start projects but on some of them I'm very s-l-o-o-o-w to finish!!!).
The model itself is by Road Champs and was the nearest to the movie’s red ‘59 Impala I could find at the time. Vitesse have issued a better example in red with a white interior but I’ve not been able to get hold of one, unfortunately.
The Impala model was taken apart; the cream interior was re-painted white and the dashboard painted black, then it was re-assembled. Figures were sourced from other JBCC models, slightly altered and re-painted to hopefully be a reasonable likeness of Bond, Liz and Ava. (A quiz for everyone here – does anybody recognise what models they came from?)
The base was a plain ‘road’ from the YOLT Toyota, stone blocks were carved into it and a mooring bollard added with a rope tied around it. The background is from the LALD Mini Moke, scanned in and reversed round the other way.
As has already been figured out, the real car appears to have been a hardtop coupe with the roof cut off, leaving the leading edge visible over the windscreen, and it also appears not to have a folded hood cover as per the stock convertible. Interestingly the black dashboard on the real car means the original interior was probably black too. What colour bodywork came with a black interior I don’t know, but I suspect it wasn’t red! So the screen car wasn’t a genuine convertible but to my mind it was probably meant to be portrayed as being something like one, so this particular model (or the Vitesse offering) is close enough for me.

Hi Rainier Wolfcastle, thanks for the compliments and thanks for the graphics and light beacon info. I plan to buy a few of those lights. I can wait to see how your decals turn out.
MCF...I am almost finished my Impala as well, I really liked the work on the figures, where do you get your figures? Fantastic!
Tony...I can't wait to see how your backdrops look, I just got a really nice photo quality printer, hopefully will try it out this weekend, your work is great, thanks so much!
The small piece of red roof that's still left. You could fit a piece of plastic right over the door windows very easily, though would likely have to sacrifice the option of opening and closing doors. The screen car, I believe, was a hotrod that had a convertible top, though I've no idea how it worked (and would thus leave the top as-is).
Also note the last comment on IMCDB, specifically this part: "If you look carefully you'll see that apparently the roof-chopper also removed the window cranks and thus probably the glass as well, rendering it a complete 6-passenger roadster."
I'm guessing it was truly customized; a shame we didn't see all of it.
Hi Tony , apologies I thought I had posted the scans last night but it would seem I hadn't so will post again later today , not sure why that has happened cheers
Thanks for the compliments on the Impala model, folks!
Dalko - The most accurate way of doing this car would probably be to take a 1.43 Impala coupe and cut away the roof in exactly the same way as the real car was cut. Because the issue isn't just the roof metal remaining on the leading edge, it's the area behind the rear seats too. On the stock convertible there is a space for the folding hood and a fairly big vinyl hood cover to go over it when it's down whereas on the screen car there is some sort of padded rear parcel shelf up against the trunk/boot, so the arrangement is different. The Road Champs Impala isn't the greatest model, so I didn't bother trying to make it fantastically accurate - the 'essence' of the movie scene was what I was after. As you say, it's a shame we didn't see all of the Impala, because there are other questions to be answered too: What wheels/wheel covers were on it? Did it have whitewalls? Were there alterations to the lower bodywork? Considering the director seemed to enjoy showing the viewers the Aston, Audi and Ladas in all their glory, why not an American classic like this one? Maybe in reality the car's exterior wasn't that well presented, so only glimpses of it were shot to give the audience the 'impression' of it being a mint '59 convertible that the girls were riding around in.
Canuck - The figures are from JBCC models: Bond and Liz were taken from the MWTGG MGB - Liz (the driver) was a straight re-paint, Bond was cut and re-glued in the middle to get him to turn towards Liz, resulting in a bit of torso re-sculpting with a scalpel. Ava (in the back) is from the MR MP Lafer, the figure was re-sculpted slightly to put her in shorts, and a gun was created out of spare black vinyl and glued in her hand.
Whenever I add figures, I never glue them into the cars, they're held in place by a tiny bit of 'blu-tack' type adhesive putty so they can be removed very easily if required at a later date.
This is a model I might re-visit if I can get hold of the Vitesse red convertible with white interior, in which case the figures will be transferred.
Oh top man,Diecast. Here is the Lotus background adjusted to fit the tall box. This will be so much easier now that i have all three correct sized templates to work on. Thanks for doing that.
Tony - I have a request as well - I know the old Italian street scene you did for Quantum was found on photobucket, but it's a bit too small a file to print out very well (I've tried using 3 different printers) Is there any chance of you re-doing it and posting a better file if it's not too much trouble?

I know where you're coming from, but I can tell you this: it did not have whitewalls. Take a look and you can very briefly see the front tire down to the top of the hubcap as it pulls in. It's truly a shame they didn't zoom out even one more time or alternately show the car pulling away better. I bet it was one nice hotrod, especially considering the alterations to the interior and the professional omission of the door handles.
