Ok, here is pic of the day. And idea for your spare DB5`s. Q`s lab from Goldfinger. I could be way off with placement and perspective here, but if you print it, please let me know if it worked. I can always fix it. Cheers.
Here is my latest code 3 sporting the revised wording as suggested by DAL110. I agree it looks much better.
Thanks! I too very much like the whole thing. As I said, the only thing that looked off was label. The diorama itself was nothing short of spectacular!
Also came across a website http://www.model-space.com/ they are deagostini and are offering the uk the Soviet Car Collection in three car bundles. The magazine is in Russian however. But the cars would be good for bond code 3 or something different for your collection.
I highly recommend these to anyone. A shame they only offer 20 models, though. It's going to go past 200 in Russia, looking at what they've actually designed. The partwork designers seem intent on manufacturing every remotely significant automobile in Soviet history.
By the way, if you want to attempt Code 3's...I've bolded the cars that appear in major roles and need to be altered or in minor roles but do NOT need to be altered. Those that appear in minor roles and need to be altered I've put in italics.
-Moskvitch 407 Sedan (Early Grille Variant) appears in no Bond film or novel.
-GAZ-M20V Pobeda Sedan appears in no Bond film or novel. It's possible Ian Fleming had this car in mind when he mentions the "ZIK", however. The novel example was black, however. -GAZ-12 ZIM Limousine appears in no Bond film or novel. With that said, it's the other possibility for the literary "ZIK saloon" in From Russia with Love. Note that you wouldn't need to modify the car.
-ZAZ-968A Zaporozhets Sedan appears in no Bond film or novel.
-GAZ-13 Chayka Limousine appears in no Bond film or novel. With that said, you might want to check John Gardner's books for this car, as it was associated with the KGB. -VAZ-2108 Lada Sputnik three-door hatchback appears briefly in Goldeneye as a background vehicle. -GAZ-24 Volga Sedan appears briefly in GE as a background vehicle. I believe the movie example was a darker color, however, not white. -VAZ-2121 Niva 4x4 appears prominently in GE around the traffic circle. There are in fact at least two of these, both the same shade of yellow offered by the SSSR AvtoLegendy partwork. -Moskvitch 408 Sedan appears briefly as a background vehicle in GE, too. Note that this issue has problematic wheels; you can get the correct ones off Nash Avtoprom's 408E (you can literally switch bottoms. The movie example was blue. -VAZ-2102 Zhiguli Station Wagon appears as a Lada 1200 Kombi in Verejna Bezpecnost colors with a roof-mounted siren in TLD. Not an impossible code 3, but not for a beginner.
-GAZ-11-73 Sedan does not appear in any Bond novel or film.
-Moskvitch 423N Station Wagon does not appear in any Bond novel or film.
Ok this a trial code3 with Tony's great insert and a corgi modified gadget db5 in a slightly smaller box, kinda works
Have you tried that background and backing label in a standard box? . because to my eye the Code 3 logo is too far up one end and the 007 one is also way off centre. If thats also the case in standard display boxes then i will need to realine them. Not a big deal, but i do want them to look as good as i can make them for you Code 3ers. Other than that, i think it looks pretty darn good with the Corgi in there.

Thanks , note this is not a jbcc box so had to tweak to get insert to fit. So in order not to lose logos I had to position then trim accordingly so yes th logos are off. The upside though the corgi db5 looks alright.
Ha Ha Ha - The Batman cars are on the IXO stand at Nuremburg toyfair so Eaglemoss were clearly keener to get them done than to extend Bond.
When I finally examined one of these a few days ago, I found they were/are indeed Ixo. However, they're also missing TONS AND TONS of details, make heavy use of cheap plastics, etc. I'm wondering if that's how Ixo reduced their sales price. "Either you let us raise the price on the Bond cars because we actually have to put effort into those or we'll deliver you what you paid for."

My six year old saw the TV advert and asked if he could get them but only the ones that look good (that say alot in itself). We are subscribing to get the cars upto all the free gifts then cancelled as looking at issues beyond the first 6 are meaningless unless you are a diehard batman fanatic. They remind me of the bad TV related corgis late 70's/80's. I remember there was a stock DODGE van that came out in various superhero liveries. I think there was also a Pink Charlies Angels van too. Very poor models and not that great toys either. The batman stuff is higher spec but i cannot imagine many will stick with this collection. I doubt it will go to full issue release as I predict numbers will drop off very quickly once the main players that everyone Knows are released. I also think IXO and UH have shot themselves in the foot by not producing more bond cars. At least the bond cars provided the basis of many other edition and colours. A Batmobile from issue 44 of a comic will always be a batmobile from issue 44 of a comic not really a broad market .
I've found it very difficult trying to find really good examples of the Batmobiles released so far (3). I thought the Tumbler at least should be a fairly safe bet because its design is so fragmented but no, bits rattling around in the cases and wheels out of alignment and off the ground. Very few supplies of this model are getting through to the newsagents - only 6 at my town's WHSmith - which makes finding good ones even trickier. I'll be getting no.4 then that's it. I'm quite relieved I only want the live action TV/movie related ones!
I tend to agree with others here that the famous, recognisable Batmobiles will do very well but the relatively obscure comic ones? At £10 each I'm not so sure, especially in the UK.
If Eaglemoss have any sense they may need to pull the plug early on this.
Just found a forum on Facebook . Did not realise that these cars are not even diecast cars. They are just cast static models with fixed wheels. Seems to have a positive vibe but lots of complaints also. 80 issues planned really !!!
Back to James Bond Waiting patiently for my back issue order. Then onwards and forwards with some more Code 3 's
Have been promising the code 3 list , must get that done cheers

The TinTin comic vehicle partwork did fairly well in France/Belgium some years back I understand, but seeing as it didn't get released in the UK is maybe a result of market tests showing the UK market wasn't as receptive to that type of comic book based partwork (figurines are apparently a different kettle of fish).

If you're on Facebook and "like" the Eaglemoss page ( ) then you'll get a notification of the new collection pages as they are launched.
It's amazing to me how the same questions get asked over and over on those pages, people just couldn't be bothered to read back a bit to see the previous responses.
Batman has never really captured my interest so the whole collection holds no particular interest to me, but hearing that these aren't even proper "toy cars" seals that deal - no deal!
Back to James Bond Waiting patiently for my back issue order.
I just got a mate in the UK to place an order for the Anglia for me via that Eaglemoss Shop page - just waiting now to hear if they had stock. I've been dragging my heels on getting one with the correct movie on the base (not a subscriber, so no automatic replacement) but it's now or never. The alternative is getting a much more expensive one from Germany via eBay where they got the correct one in the first place.
I am still waiting for Ranch Wagon replacement. Apparently out of Stock and up to 4 weeks to arrive. Parts 132/3 not dispatched yet even though ordered weeks ago and 134 now overdue though I can contain the disappointment. Apparently warehouse has long queue of orders to go out probably being held up by sending out the initial wave of Batman stuff I guess. Please also note that Database warehouse are taking no more orders for items by phone. I think that Eaglemoss is getting someone else to fulfil back orders via their website although some links take you to the empty database warehouse for Fabbri Back Orders Page.... and the back orders on the eaglemoss web site stop when you find them stop at issue 113.
Some of the Code 3s are excellent and certainly show that they could probably have run to 200 and still kept peoples interest!

Maz, just in case you don't get the Country Squire, Premium X should be releasing one in a few weeks. I would recommend the cream one, which is lifted directly off the 1964 sales brochure car.
EDIT: Whoops, thought you missed the Country Squire! As for the '60 Ranch Wagon, well, despite it not being in Premium X's catalog for this year, they are still planning it in pale blue.
Thanks for the list, pjf, quite interesting. I once did a count by film and FRWL only had two at the time (around issue 110). Even if they added three models for this film, the Silver Wraith is still terribly missing.
Ixo shows a current Jaguar XJ in the new catalogue. I think this is a new model for 2013, and while the Jag is an interesting enough car for a miniature in its own right, maybe it was also planned as M's car for the JBCC? http://www.ixomodels.com/yearbook/2013catalogue.pdf (PDF download, pretty large file)
I guess this is not the LWB version but it comes pretty close for a code 3 (closer than the QOS XJ - right, myhandle?) - even the colour (if the picture shows indeed "Rhodium Silver Metallic"?) could pass as "black" more than "silver". The interior should be changed to a dark colour.
Thanks for that order-of-appearance list, pjft, it will come in handy when I put my completed collection on display (although ones like the GF Dodge ambulance will probably not be in sequence due to box size).
It's interesting to see how PCT makes use of its made-for-partwork moulds afterwards, and the catalogue RW has linked to has, amongst others, several Opel additions to the Ixo Museum series that were made for The Opel Collection.
Although this is moot for most collectors here, I thought I'd share the note from the publisher just received here in South Africa with Issue 106 (DN Ford Consul), our latest release, as the wording differs from anything previously published here (around August 2011 when the extension to 130 was announced in the UK): Dear James Bond Car Collector
We would like to thank you for your continued support of The James Bond Car Collection and hope that you have enjoyed your die-cast models and accompanying magazines so far.
Due to the overwhelming positive response to this series, we are extending the series with an extra 25 issues, and it will finish at issue 135.
We will be creating more replica models of some of the greatest James Bond cars complete with their magazines.
You can look forward to models such as cars from the brand new 23rd Bond film, Skyfall, Goldfinger's laser cutting vehicle, and many, many more.
You don't need to do anything to get these additional models; the publication will continue automatically as usual.
Yours sincerely
THE PUBLISHER
Just goes to show how late that decision to not make the SF LR Disco 4 was taken, as this update became invalid over a month ago as it states 135 issues instead of 134 and cars from Skyfall instead a car!

I do think this collection was to continue much longer but for what ever reason the Batman part work has become Eaglemoss priority . Maybe they thought most of the JBCC collectors would continue with Batman. What also puzzles me is the fact we are now seeing potential JBCC releases being released in other collections whether model issues for 2013 or part of other limited runs. Doesnt make any sense as we have all lost out. We have an incomplete collection and Eaglemoss have lost income and the diecast manufacturer has lost a big order.
Another LITERAL ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ car from OHMSS – a Ford Corsair.
I openly confess to self-indulgence here, my dad used to have one of these as company car, so I’ve always liked Corsairs (even though he hated it).
I was also intrigued as to whether Cararama’s offering, which seems to be the only current 1.43 scale Corsair currently available at a reasonable price, could be improved. Anybody familiar with this model will know one of its major flaws is the set of peculiar wheels fitted to it which are more like something suited to a cartoon car than a real one. These were replaced with white metal 1.43 scale wheels and tyres from K&R Replicas in the form of Minilite alloys, which I think immediately improved its looks 100 percent. Minilite alloy wheels were available in the 60s as car accessories so I saw no reason why they shouldn’t be a more exciting alternative to the usual stock steels and hubcaps (also available in 1.43 from K&R) - the car is seen going to a motor sport event, so why not?
The Cararama Corsair’s exhaust pipe system is finished in an unlikely chrome so that was painted over in a more realistic silver, and a very modern looking large ‘Ford’ logo printed on the o/s front wing was removed with T-Cut. A driver figure was added and also a pair of ski roof rails – these were fashioned out of ‘cupcake’ painted wire paper clips, one particular section of which was a perfect fit. The base is from a spare TND Range Rover which was sanded flat, then car filler was spread over it and sculpted and painted to look like a compacted snow roadway.
The background was supplied by our Mr. Ericsson, who I think has done a stunning job considering how little he had to work with, the man IS a genius. Thank you Tony.

This is great! Both my Father and Grandfather had Corsairs. Red and White respectively. I agree the wheels look much better . A perfect edition to the Code 3 brand. Well done to you and of course Tony for another great background.

Great to see a Corsair joining the Code 3s. I have several of these, as issued by Cararama and Oxford Diecast, but even the newer ones have poor wheels (although I do prefer the fixed doors of the newer ones).
Thanks for the heads-up on the wheel supplier - the last time I wanted wheels like this I stripped them off a Vanguards Boy Racer, but that's not the cheapest way to go about it!
Great work once again from Tony ... I'm so pleased that you are able to share your talent with us again without the haters. {[]
I used a couple of spare axles from the 'spares box' cut to size, but K&R may sell those too. If anyone opts for alloys like these, just be careful pressing/gluing them onto the axle ends - the wheel castings are quite delicate and can easily be pushed out of shape with too much force.
I have acquired a minichamps ford thunderbird from Die Another Day
Any suggestions for a suitable code 3 as there appears to be only one scene with the car that I can see and we have a Jbcc version already
maybe it was also planned as M's car for the JBCC?
Possibly. Ixo was developing cars out to 145, but that's all we know. They could have changed it from the LWB version to the standard version if it wasn't fully developed.

BTW come on CODE 3ers lets see some new ones
)
Yes I would've carried on. The Wish List becomes an "only in your dreams list!".
I went with a Bond collecting friend to a toyfair at Shepton Mallet, Somerset and got a "Bargain of the day".
A Corgi JB Goldfinger DB5 for £10 ! No figures just empty car but gadgets work and no box.
So a basic replacement (and not much scratched) for a tenner.
Back in the 1960s my younger brother painted my 1965 one with white poster paint!

You have an E-mail. Hope you like it.
It's interesting to see how PCT makes use of its made-for-partwork moulds afterwards, and the catalogue RW has linked to has, amongst others, several Opel additions to the Ixo Museum series that were made for The Opel Collection.
Although this is moot for most collectors here, I thought I'd share the note from the publisher just received here in South Africa with Issue 106 (DN Ford Consul), our latest release, as the wording differs from anything previously published here (around August 2011 when the extension to 130 was announced in the UK):
Dear James Bond Car Collector
You may still get issue 135 ?
BTW come on CODE 3ers lets see some new ones
)

Any suggestions for a suitable code 3 as there appears to be only one scene with the car that I can see and we have a Jbcc version already
Possibly. Ixo was developing cars out to 145, but that's all we know. They could have changed it from the LWB version to the standard version if it wasn't fully developed.
Every single Ist Model, for example!
