Skyfall. Woefully under-represented.................. so - another DB5 for you
If you call Eaglemoss they will send you a replacement for the damaged one you received.
No, great job, SWJ, what did you use on that poor model - do you have a flamethrower lying around?
If we did "Colonel Sun", does that mean we're going to see a John Gardner novel where the, umm, "Silver Beast" appears? It would make a truly awesome diorama...although I must say that the concept of a mid-80's Saab 900 Turbo with more gadgets than the Aston Martin is probably something that would play better in the books than on the big screen. )
At over £40 a pop for a 1:43 Saab 900 I think that one will have to wait - but I do have a Shelby Mustang in mind from For Special Services.........
I guess you are talking of the black coupé from Norev. I think this would be a very good choice for a repaint. Like all the other Saab models it is LHD though. All pictures are from www.saab-models.com.
UH also makes a "classic 900" (1978-93 generation) but this is a much newer model with the slanted nose. Apart from this the UH Saab is also quite a poor model. (It's also a model where I have to ask: Why show underbody detail which is completely wrong? Why not leave the baseplate without detail instead of showing a driveshaft to the rear wheels and leaf springs on the rear? ?:) Last time I saw my Saab from below - during the annual inspection usually accompanied by "And this is completely rusted through - and that must be replaced soon" - it still had front-wheel drive and coil springs all round.)
As an owner of three Saab 900 turbos, just a few notes to the Silver Beast: Licence Renewed and For Special Services were published in 1981 and '82, so the Norev Saab is not entirely correct if you are fussy. Norev's 900 is a 1985-86 model, as the grille and wheels show. These are not correct for 1980-83 cars.
Neo makes a 1980 900 turbo, unfortunately only the ugly 4-door sedan. The TRX wheels of this model are the same as those currently on the Silver Beast in the Saab museum. However, the original promo photos and folders show the car with regular 15" wheels (UK turbos at the time were not equipped with the strange Michelin TRX tyres which use metric sizes instead of inches, so no other tyres would fit on the wheels). The Neo has the correct grille for the Silver Beast with six vertical slats (instead of two on the later models). Maybe the grille would fit on the Norev but we all know that every manufacturer uses a different 1/43 ...
The correct 15" Inca wheels of the Saab promo car (with John Gardner) can be found on Neo's Saab 99 turbo.
So, basically it's a repaint of the Norev Saab + grille (and maybe also the better lights and interior) from Neo's 900 sedan + wheels from Neo's 99 turbo ... well, that's a bit much even for a Saab fan like me.
Yes, night version, but completly diffrent angle - from the Casino side. Something similar to the DBS insert.
I do have problem with limited space at shelves, but don't worry - I had same problem last year and I ordered two more of them from a carpenter )
So I think sonner or later (rather sooner) I will be back with collection :-)
I hope this helps you. I could`nt find a decent night shot of the casino so i spliced two daylight photos together and got busy. Please post a pic when its finished. Cheers.
OH
MY
GOD!
I think it's time to spend money at the proper autoart's S-class.
To be honest - I showed models after confersion with your dioramas. Nobody was able to recognise which are "home made". Seriously THIS IS PERFECT!
I ordered "proper model" :-) I will post some photos ASAP.
One - last - thing (i promise!) BMW X6 is produced since 2008 :-/ If you don't have anything aganist - could you replace them with some Continentals or XJ8?
But seriously - this is gonna be numer one in my collection. Many, many thanks once more!

Well thank you very much for saying so. I have`nt actually added a single Code 3 to my collection since the official run ended, this is my way of getting my paw print on a few that are out there. Keep up the great work, lj. All of you , in fact. Thanks again
LOL....Darn, and i hide them in the back. I should know better than to try a get one past a car fan forum. i`ll find something to hide my foul-up LOL
Tony this one is amazing, really impressive so much so I am going to buy the model to park in it ! I think you should add a little (c) Tony Ericsson to each of your 'original' backgrounds in case Eaglemoss get ideas above their station. I think a series 2 collection is likely especially when the Helicopter collection comes to an end in 15 or so months . The Batman collection is riding high at the moment but i think momentum will soon drop away as the more obscure models start to appear.
I am currently waiting for a number of deliveries to occupy previous backdrop requests. Also my commissioned VANISH should be ready in the coming weeks. If successful I will order a run and offer them on this thread . Watch this space for details.
RW, thanks for the response, terrific post! I knew Saab actually went through the trouble of building a real "Silver Beast", so they DO get serious credit there.
Ok.This is a tad off topic but it kinda fits. I have been asked repeatedly how i do the backgrounds
so here follows a sort of step by step using the latest one from Casino Royale as an example. Most
of them are a lot easier and quicker to do.....but hey, its THE CASINO for God sake. Hope it helps.

Thank you for your compliments, D. I dont think slapping a copyright on anything i do is a good idea though, since every box i designed has two huge 007 logos on it. But this is a cottage industry
and none profit making (damn it!!) so i think they`ll be leaving this "little (c)" alone. I hope!!!
Tony, seriously, you are doing amazing job! I didn't want to complain! Just, as you can notice, I love Casino Royale and thanks to you, I am able to continue the collection in a way I was dreaming about! Royale was released in 2006, there is nothing bad in X6, it's not a big deal about date of release. The thing is, that ouside of hotel and casino, there is a car park with huge amount of rare cars (F430, BMW 6 series, Maserati Spyder, 911) but the rest is a beautiful crowd of a "common" product-placement vehicles (Jags and Bentleys). I love it, and personaly I think CR is perfect Bond movie. That is why I pay atention for the details. F.E. the S class which I ordered is a "stock" model. At IMCDB people are saying that Merc had an "AMG Package" (diferent bumpers, badges, grill). Really, Tony, you are doing your work 100% better than UH!
http://www.imcdb.org/movie_381061-Casino-Royale.html <- basicly almost 60% of "background vehicles" in Montenegro scenes are Jags and Bentleys. I was even thinking about putting my 1:43 Continental GT in the remainig free box left from converting the Daimler, but in the movie there are only saloon versions :-/
Two more Aston Martin V8 Vantage variants from The Living Daylights: This one is 'gadget-less' apart from the twin rockets shown just after slicing the Lada (click pics to enlarge)
The base is from the LD police Lada, as is the background on which I dropped a 'patch' featuring the Lada with help from our Tony (many thanks!)
This version speaks for itself: (click pics to enlarge)
The base is from the LD Vantage with the ramp removed and built up around the car with resin filler. The car was wrapped in cling-film prior to doing this so it can still be removed intact from the base - it's actually held in place by the conventional tri-screw. The figures were sourced on eBay and are 1.50 scale architectural figures, re-sculpted slightly and painted. For some strange reason, I couldn't find a 1.50 scale cello case on eBay, so had to carve one out of a piece of balsa wood. The background, of course, was courtesy of our Tony (many thanks again) who put up with a few nuisance ammendment requests!
...........Before anybody suggests it, no I'm not going to do Bond and Kara going down the hill on the cello case!!!

WOW!! I knew it was gonna be good by your discription but i had no idea it would look like that. Outstanding work Sir. Here are the backgrounds for anyone else who might wants to add these Code 3`s to their collections. Wonderful work.

I was so kidding with you, of course its no biggy to change the cars. Here it is with Bentleys, Jags and a BMW...........My Austin A 30 just out of frame
Hello. There were one or two things missing from this background so i`ve been back in and corrected it. It now has the proper street lamps, the three flags have been added, as have the pottted palms. Some new people have been put in as well and the cars have been repositioned.
I also include a version without the drugged Bond so you have the option to put in the DBS, a Daimler or whatever car you like. Hope you like the changes.
I like what you have done with the back ground above. Now here is another for you the unmarked range rover from skyfall. I could only find these two photos so maybe a bit of artistic license is required for this but i am sure you will be able to come up with something

Hmmm, I dont suppose anyone knows what street that is, do they? That would make a good start.

Still many things to be done. I need two spare figures to fit inside and montenegro license plates
Obviously, the car and background are far more dark, the camera light made it too bright.
I will post more (better) pictures later. Tony - once more- thank you very much!

It does look damn good lj! Did you make the base? I dont recognize it?
Now it's much better, but still the camera is making faint photos :-/ I think the reason is becouse the backgroud and the car itself are very dark. It looks amazing, the level of details in the background is unbelivable! Photos are lying - diorama card is in HD and the lights outside the casino are increasing this effect!
I had to cut 4mm at the top of card in order to remain grass visible (and Bond as well).
The base is repainted version of the one from Thunderball Benz. I repainted the grass in darker tone, and used a red-black combination of paints for the road (stock is simply black).
Autoart models in 1:43 are surprising me each time I decide to buy one. This time I discovered, it is impossible to get to interior of a car without making damage to the chassis, so I refused putting figures inside. (It has 4 shock absorbers as well!)
The license plates are german random. That is becouse when I was trying to discover what was written at them in the movie, I found out, that the car is not from Montenegro, but from Germany. The letters unfortunetly are not visible :-/
Hope you enjoy the photos!
Brilliant job lj. and if that is the end of your Code 3s for now then its a pretty classy car to finish on. great job. you have highlighted an issue i have now fixed for future backgrounds. I have not been leaving enough room at the bottoms to allow for the drop behind the display. I have added a "waterline" to my templates that should ensure that Mr Bond and Co keep their feet from now on. We learn as we go along, as evident your latest addition. Now go get those extra shelves up and keep to the code! Many thanks for your compliments also. Cheers {[]
Just rang The Database Factory to chase up a couple of missing orders made back in January and was told both were no longer available, my order couldn't be fulfilled, so I was given a refund.
OK, so I looked on Eaglemoss's website where both issues were apparently available and rang them to double-check availability. The person I spoke to said I was talking to Database again and not only were both issues actually out of stock but also they "are not selling back issues to anyone who isn't a subscriber". So, they're shown as being 'available' online but they're actually out of stock and you can't buy them anyway.
The phrase 'Couldn't organise a p*ss-up in a brewery' comes to mind.
