Great photo comparison ! And a very well reasoned critique.. I am very pleased
When I discussed the model with fx company . We did think of doing a negative mould in other words mould the vanquish and the space created would be the invisible interpretation of the car. It was tried but just looked really bad. Another option was to vinyl wrap the 1/43 model essentially but cost was prohibitive to buy material for such a small exercise.

The second model is up for sale on eBay.
The photo comparison is stunning. I'd actually be very tempted to try and persuade our friend Tony to create that same very blue background in the movie still, and paint over the grey bits on the base with stippled blues and whites to simulate ice. It could even be possible to put a battery operated white led light under the model for extra effect! In all honesty I doubt UH or Ixo could have done a better job of the model than we're seeing in this resin cast.
I have to say that when illuminated the model looks much more like in the film! The trick is to attract the viewer's attention to the background rather than the car itself, so that is "disappears".
That looks absolutely astonishing! People at Fabbri can definately learn a thing or two from you!
'You fancy a job as their new chief designer?
Here is mine after the Fabbri came out. I needed an Oddjob, too, though otherwise I would not be satisfied. Yours is so intricately put together and painted, you are to be commended. Super phenomenal job, Sir !!!

Very nice work Shran007 {[] The later JBCC (Ixo) models look so much better with figures added IMHO, it brings them alive. I like the 'ejected' bad guy in the GF DB5 and the chopper background for the Skyfall DB5. Once again, the flower truck with a cargo of flowers added looks 'complete' compared to the standard model, it's a shame Ixo didn't take it that far.
Thank you very much; it was such a pleasure to do. I had to buy an extra "Living Daylights" V8 Vantage going up the ramp in the snow to get a dark haired Bond and a "blonde" lady that I could alter into Tanya. Then I used one of the fellows from the "Licence to Kill" Dodge Ram Truck who had a mustache to pose as the thug in the passenger's seat since Bond at that point is driving the vehicle.
I could not find a Seaman's Cap for Bond, but what the heck! The HO railroad scale tulips were the third try to add flowers to the truck. Plus I actually bought two Chevrolet trucks as I could not easily open one up without fear of breaking it! (gave the "unused" one to my kids for Christmas!). When I bought some HO railroad scale "green bushes" to crush up and use as filler around the four primary beds of tulips, the "flower arrangement" really came to life!
Tanya was my final puzzle and after careful "FRWL" screening to get the colors of her outfit right, I placed a short toothpick up her you know what so she could be securely fastened into the flower bed and not move too much.
Very proud of that piece; no matter what it cost me as it was tons of fun to build!
PS. thanks for noticing my "Ejector Seat" and "Skyfall" treatment, too. I thought to myself, how lame DB5 with an ejector seat opening and no baddie getting thrown? "You must be joking, Fabbri!". Plus the "Skyfall" backdrop was such a let down that when I saw a "Skyfall" helicopter on Ebay and the chance to really use the mansion in the background, I had to accept the challenge!. I used one of my leftover "tall" Acrostar plastic covers for the completion of this vehicle diorama since the helicopter picture was nice and tall. Nice was to finish off 50 Years of Bond!!!

Speaking of DBS's is there any way of customising either the CR or undamaged QoS version of the car to right side drive? In relation to my earlier post, I am debating a custom or two.
If I was going to attempt this one, I think I'd buy a Cararama RHD DB7 (cheap on eBay) and see if the dashboards can be swapped over, whilst still using the original interior bucket and steering wheel. It might be possible to file down the DB7's centre binnacle to make it more convincing.
Unless anybody's got any better suggestions, it might be worth a try.
Just buy a Minichamps Casino Royale DBS which has a wrong RHD interior.
Okay, if not feeling like spending £50 to 70 for the Minichamps, swapping the dashboard seems to be the only practicable solution. Maybe instead of the Cararama DB7, a JBCC Vanquish dashboard would be more similar to the DBS? But we are talking about a black plastic piece inside a 1/43 car so a few liberties may be taken. The Vanquish is one of the cheaper issues, too.
I've tried to fit the interior of a JBCC Vantage into the grey Minichamps V8 Coupe (LHD) but the complete interior just doesn't fit. (I wanted to leave the Minichamps interior intact so that it would be possible to change it back in the future.) But the JBCC dash does fit perfectly onto the Minichamps interior part, so I think only changing the dashboard would be quite easy to do on other cars as well.
I wanted to post images from some of my best "customized" James Bond Car Collection vehicles. Looking at this thread (I am page 100 now) makes me realize to what great lengths some folks are taking to make their collection memorable.
Please free to comment on what your favorite might be and continue to post your own "Code 3" versions (which I think means custom adapted very freely)
Hi shran007, your Chevrolet is my favourite of your customs and excellent. Can you tell us more which figures you used and how you made the flower bed? Are these flowers from Faller railway layout accessories?

PS. The "flower arrangement" of tulips were 1/2 inch high. They are currently on Ebay item # 360469111881 and are JTT Scenery Products (also imported by MRC - Model Rectifier Corporation). I used the foam that was included and used an Exacto Knife to trim down a piece of foam to stick a bunch of tulips into and then used Super Glue to affix each "bed of tulips on a foam floor" into the four corners of the truck bed. I'm still looking for the "greens" I used but I think they were just the plainest green hedges I could find on Ebay.

If you look at my thread on "Customizing the James Bond Car Collection" you'll see I did my est work on this truk with flowers, two figures (the thug from the Dodge Truck from "Licence to Kill" and Bond and Tanya from the Vantage in "The Living daylights" going up the ramp in the snow) Please check it out and let me know what you think...
Actually, I am giving thought to adding a Tania ... but that also means I'd really need a Bond and SPECTRE agent in the cab ...
The same company as makes the figures in my earlier post also make landscaping in various scales. The flowers are already in hedgerows and just need trimming to fit; one #305 pack fills the bed as you see it.
which page was you post with the beautiful picture of your FRWL Truck?

Hi Shran007, welcome to the thread! I just had a look at the thread you mentioned and I would suggest that you re-post all of the photos again on this thread, which is now very much associated with customising the JBCC models. It would be great to have your models added to our growing collection -{
Thank you so much, Mr MovieCarFan. I took your suggestion to heart and have had many happy moments since!!

I don't care you think of me, as mentioned. If moderators want to pull us up about widening topic or even move stuff to a new string then fine I'll live with that its what moderators are for. Otherwise as long as we dont wander off topic for too many posts I dont see the harm. As the collection is ending - and Database warehouse confirmed again that 135 is it(For what that is worth) - I see no harm in discussing what we would like to collect next in between models arriving. For some that will have a Bond flavour, others more general movie related stuff, and for the car centrics it will be more general. I note that talk is all about JBCC when the models actually arrive which is how it should be.
Meantime I think it would be be better if we didnt argue with each other in public and make/take things personally.
Do we now think that the dissappointing 131-5 on Wikepedia is likely to be correct?
Right, we should be a Peace keeping Force for the benefit of all things Bond!

You're picking up on some dodgy old stuff there Shran007. Don't worry, we're all mates now! On the assumption you're reading through the whole thread, what page are you up to now?
I think we have not seen an attempt on the SF double-cab Landy before, and user "schattenlos" has done a great job. His only description is "A sneak preview on my new diorama project. It will be finished in a few weeks time." As this was posted a month ago, I hope he will post more pictures in the near future.
Does anyone recognize the base model for the Defender? At first I wasn't even sure if this was 1/43 as the train wagon looked a bit strange. But the blue New Beetle is an Ixo MOC023.
That Landy is looking good, RW, it would be great seeing the finished product when he's done with it ... thanks for the link.
I also cannot figure out which model he's using as a base. I have the Corgi and the New Ray versions of the Defender in 1/43 and this doesn't appear to be based on either of those. I must dig out Issue 85, the CR Defender made by UH, and have another look at that one (my older JBCC models are in storage at the moment).
DC007, I really like that Vanish! It's definitely a worthy addition to the "extended collection" and I trust the returns on your second one make it worthwhile from that respect as well. Sorry that the monthend was so busy for me otherwise I would have commented sooner!
Well, as the "last of the mohicans", I am now up to Issue 110, which I got a week ago. The magazine contained the same insert that UK buyers got about the collection being extended, as well as a second one from the South African distributor once again noting that the collection is being extended to 135 issues ... hey, maybe we will get one extra model after all to reward us for our patience!?! There are precedents: the Hachette Tractor collection went to 100 in the UK and it's beyond that here already, and the Eaglemoss Ferrari collection also had about 20 additional models compared to the same partwork run in the UK. Here's hoping...
The Helicopter Magazine partwork mentioned a few pages back has just launched here as well (as expected, although earlier than I thought it would). First issue here was the Sea King, going for the equivalent of just over £2 ... at that price, I bought three
Glad you like the Vanish. It looks like I have a buyer for the second one. I am subscribing to the helicopter collection . I collect diecast aircraft and these have been all nice additions. Strangely the first issue here was a black hawk. Waiting for issue 19 and 20 . I believe there is 48 !!!
Does anyone recognize the base model for the Defender? At first I wasn't even sure if this was 1/43 as the train wagon looked a bit strange. But the blue New Beetle is an Ixo MOC023.
Thanks for posting the photo RW, I think the Skyfall Double-Cab is the single most important Bond car missing from the series, but that's just my opinion. It's good to see that someone appears to have made a convincing job of modelling it.
I think the base for this model might be the Cararama Defender, with wheels off the Cararama 110. This particular model (Skyfall Land Rover Double Cab) is one that I've been having a go at recently but haven't got very far with due to lack of spare time. The Cararama was my first choice but I gave up on it because the body shell and roof is so thin and flimsy - which could be why the lower edges on the one in the photo look to have been 'torn'. The Cararama version has the correct front grille and is in silver, but I subsequently chose the JBCC Defender to work with, since it is a much more solid model, particularly in terms of the roof. Neither model unfortunately has the correct 'power bulge' bonnet though.
You're picking up on some dodgy old stuff there Shran007. Don't worry, we're all mates now! On the assumption you're reading through the whole thread, what page are you up to now?
Yeah, this. Among other things, I was having some relationship problems with my girlfriend's parents that bordered on hellish when that was posted and would go off at the drop of a hat.
Not really necessary to drag disputes from one or two years ago back into the light ...
Much appreciated! {[] Also, the train car, judging by the trucks, seems to be an amalgamation of multiple brands. For example, the springs are clearly Lionel, whereas the couplers are definitely some "hi-rail" brand. I tend to believe the Land Rover Defender is a heavily modified Hongwell/Cararama model.

Wow - sorry; really --- 2 years ago?? So very, very sorry; I had no idea!!
Anyway I am up to page 203 and have just red all the fascinating conjecture of weather this "silly" company called Eaglemoss is going to ruin it for all of us and stop manufacturing this phenomenal series of die cast vehicles. Again; old news, because they did!! And those lists of "Possible Candidates" of "Most Wanted 15 vehicles", etc. were really cool. I feel lucky that they made the Dodge Ambulance with laser (from "Goldfinger") but both of my copies had that slight piece of scotch tape in the "roof" of the plastic case. Not a clue what is was doing there!. I opened up one of mine and turned the ambulance around so the laser could face the direction of the door.
But I was upset that the Kentworth Truck (Cab only) was never made as "Licence to Kill" is really one of my favorite Bond movies and all the truck stunts were so real that it would have made for a tremendous diorama while the movie was playing in my man cave. Oh bother; at least when "FRWL" comes on, I'll have my Chevrolet Apache truck to look at during the critical moment of the helicopter chasing Bond and Tanya.
PS. I am able to read about 7 pages day but might go a tad slower as the "end of series" is in sight and the forum is getting particularly interesting reading; just like a great novel!

I just fnished reading the entire thread myself last night. My eyes need a break from screen and phone staring!
For me things take off when all the Code 3 customising stuff begins. We have some amazing talent in here! My only disapointment is some links over time have broken, so not all pics available.
I am def gong to try to cherry pick a few of the principle cars for myself. Maybe, just maybe I'll get a custom or two done as well.
- Thanks for the right hand drive DBS advice by the way, I have started plotting!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
Shran007 & Thunderbird2 - glad you're enjoying reading through the thread, it must be quite a mammoth task. If you come across missing pictures, let us know, we might be able to re-post even if we didn't actually put them up online (some of us may have downloaded them at the time).
TB2 - if you don't already have it, here is the link to the current JBCC back issues shop.
My advice would be to order by phoning the Eaglemoss JBCC dept though, because 'real people' will tell you whether your choice of models are actually in stock or not - you cannot believe what they say online!
That is beautiful. Even for those of us without D007's great 'Vanish' model, it's worth printing out to put in a spare empty case!! {[]
Cheers MCF. I cant take any credit for this really. Just lifted the pics from the web and reshaped them, then cranked the blues up to 11 !!. Still, they do offer a couple of nICE display options )

by the way, best line from that movie

Hi Thunderbird 2
welcome aboard. Glad you are enjoying the Code 3 stuff. it has given this thread a life beyond the Eaglemoss offerings. This page may be of use to you if you are inspired by any of the Code 3s so far. All of the backgrounds i have done for this forum can be found and uploaded from there.
Looking at it again, I agree with MCF & DB110 that the base for the Skyfall Defender Code 3 is most likely the Cararama/Hongwell Defender. I actually have the Estate/Station Wagon version in silver - forgot that I had - and it does have the revised front as seen in Skyfall, rather than the original 1990s nose of the Corgi and New Ray versions in my collection. Anyways, I hope the builder shares all when it's complete.
