We went down the coast yesterday ,and whilst trawling through many a antique /junk shop ,I came across this .A Goldfinger ,
Aston Martin DB5 ,I quickly paid my £20.00 ,and promptly left, just in case they had put the wrong price on it .ive put my GMT next to it for scaling purposes
Hi to all,
not so much activity here, despite all good work done by all of you.
I have made few mag for the 'Code 5' and don't have much time to spend on small cars... as I started to work on a scale 1 car (Dutton for people that knows)
Looks like the 1:43 Hot Wheels Elite has finally arrived. I don't know, doesn't really convince me - looks a bit crude to me and the rear window doesn't fit (at least on this example). And not to forget, the price is €69.90 ...
Agree with RW, not a very convincing model.
Saw an advert for the up and coming Corgi DB10, hopefully that might be better, but I am not holding my breath

Hmmm.....what IS going on with that back window? And at €69.90 I think I might stick with my several Corgi Bond DB5s, my several JBCC Bond DB5s and my Minichamps Bond DB5!
......In other words I think Hot Wheels needed to do something pretty special with this model to compete with what's already been done in 1.43.

For what it's worth, I just need to get the very first JBCC, the Goldfinger in the Alps DBS. That will do me for my six key cars.
I had hoped to get one or two of the 1:43 Hot Wheels cars for my future Code 4s.* But they are ludicrously extortionate. Even as collectables. Add this questionable construction quality - what IS going on with that rear window?! It's inserted squint like a on a badly done model kit! Also the colour doesn't look right to me, too steel rather than the grey gun metal tone of the real car?
* I have got caught up with the Star Trek Starships collection. I'm building a small fleet. Help!!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
Hello to all,
Some code 4, not time to work on Code 3 James Bond... even if I am waiting to new models from Spectre.
Anyway, few mags. code 4 already made few years ago.
Cheers.
Thank you, MovieCanFan. you are right, those movies are more 'French' than worldwide... but models are interesting..
Anyway, new model for the James Bond car collection, with 2 movie new for me :
Casino Royale in 1967 and the new Spectre - The James Bond Car collection.
But that gives the number 183 !! Ans i stiil have some ideas and work... but not enough time for the moment !
This is background cars for Spectre, we are all waiting for new DB10 in 1/43.
Neat covers as usual, DDenis - glad to see you are still on the job {[]
I've started to see a slight upward movement in prices for certain JBCC models again (e.g. the hearses), which is good news for when I finally get around to sorting out my duplicates!

It's possible a 1.43 may turn up c/o Oxford Diecast (they have a major licencing deal going on with Aston Martin at the moment) but it may not be in James Bond branded packaging.
Unless I was hallucinating (and that's entirely possible) I saw what looks like a relaunched version of this partwork in with the other partworks in my local WHSmith this evening. I didn't have much time (as the shop was due to close in a few minutes) and so I didn't notice the name of the partwork, but it seems to be in a slightly different format from the original car collection. The magazine was sealed in a bag, and stuck on the backing card, with an accompanying car model from Casino Royale. The sample pages on the reverse of the backing card seemed to resemble the design from the magazines that accompanied the DB5 model partwork.
I didn't buy the magazine as my interest in the Bond films is restricted to the pre-Craig films only. Has anyone else noticed this magazine in branches of WHSmith? I can't find anything about it online....perhaps I was hallucinating.

There are two possibilities.
1) Your WH Smith is trying to shift old stock.
2) Now Spectre is out in the UK (it has a few cars in the background) Eaglemoss might be on the relaunch path.
Ben Robinson who is in charge if their Bond, Trek Ships and Dr Who figure part works amongst others, has made one or two Bond references on his Twitter page recently. Nothing specific, but enough to suggest they are up to something Bond related.

I popped into my local WHSmith again yesterday on my way home and had a better look at this partwork. It's definitely not old stock. It's a brand new publication, different from the original car collection partwork, and it seems to be called 'Bond in Motion'. It had 'Part 1' in a large font on the backing card, and as I said in my previous post, the car is from Casino Royale. I couldn't see the publisher's name anywhere on the magazine or backing card. It's possibly mentioned in the small print on the backing card, but I didn't examine that too closely. I assume the publisher is Eaglemoss, as they've had the Bond licence for partworks in the past.

As it's a limited test at £3 a pop, I would (if I could) buy 10 of them and then put them on eBay for £10 each!
I just hope they stick to cars which weren't covered by the JBCC, otherwise interest will dwindle quickly.
That's very interesting news - maybe we are in for another partwork going on for years?
I'd like to see a picture of the new magazine and model if possible - I guess it is the DBS from Casino Royale?
The question is if it is the old JBCC model and diorama with a new magazine (maybe even the magazine has the same content as before with just a new cover page) or a completely new offering?
FACT, I don't think it would be possible to start a new partwork only with new cars. What's left of Casino Royale that hasn't been done before? In the JBCC we had the DBS, Mr White's Jaguar XJ8, Hotel Splendide Daimler DS420, Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Defender, Miami-Dade police car and the ZIL. The only one I can remember right now would be the DB5.
If this new partwork is related to the Bond in Motion exhibition it could be 50 issues ("50 vehicles. 50 years." was the tagline when it was at Beaulieu). Many of the shown vehicles have already been released in the JBCC and I guess would be reused unchanged. But the Bond in Motion will from November 18 also include cars from Spectre, and maybe the new partwork will be expanded with the DB10 and Jaguar C-X75. And if they choose to make the new Land Rover then we could also see the Skyfall Defender at last, as both are crew-cab pickups.
I hope the test of the new partwork is successful and although I think that most cars will be reused from the JBCC maybe we will finally get some of the glaring omissions. Although most of the JBCC cars are still easily available on ebay - we must not forget that the JBCC started nine years ago and we now have a new generation of prospective collectors who may never have seen a JBCC model before and wouldn't look for them on ebay.

I'm surprised no examples of a new partwork haven't turned up on eBay yet, but I would imagine for the moment it would be unsold JBCC stock with a new magazine covering perhaps 12 issues. Obviously reprinting the magazines under a different title would be very cheap in comparison to creating tooling for new models, so it's a cost effective way of pushing existing stock to potential new buyers. If it is Eaglemoss though, I don't quite know how they will run two identical series with different titles side by side on their website 8-)
I hope it does well too, it ought to bearing in mind how perennial the interest in Bond and cars is with all sorts of fan groups. I won't be re-buying anything I've already got unless there is a dramatic change to the diorama perhaps, but it would be great to see the obvious gaps in the collection filled (LD non-gadget Vantage and SF Land Rover). Also SPECTRE vehicles and maybe some of the dozens of desireable models we've seen suggested on this thread since the JBCC came to a conclusion.

Eaglemoss has done something odd with the Opel Collection they are running in Germany: they dragged it out to 120 issues (by including all kinds of South American Chevrolet-branded models that really stretched the definition of being "Opel"). Now they have re-branded it as the Opel Designer Collection from Issue 121 onwards, focused on the designers of various models, which of course allows them to re-issue the original models all over again!
So don't underestimate Eaglemoss's ability in this regard! )

I think you could be onto something there, RW, that would be a very logical link-up. This new partwork would have already have negotiated a licence with EON in order to run the test, but it would be interesting to know whether that licence includes the newer films, and whether Hot Wheels Elite's 1/43 licence excludes all other manufacturers from making a 1/43 model.
(Incidentally, what is happening with Hot Wheels Elite, I heard earlier this year that Mattel was shutting down the brand?).
Back to this thread after a long absence. Also saw the new partwork in a local Smiths (Staines - or Staines on Thames as it now likes to call itself ! ). Given that the title is now 'Bond in Motion', perhaps this will open the door for vehicles other than cars to be featured in the run - although there was no indication that this might be the case from my brief look at the packaging.

Vehicles like the Q Boat, Little Nellie, Acrostar and Parahawk were already included in the JBCC although they were no cars.
Not sure if the new partwork would include much larger vehicles that are only shown as models in the Bond in Motion exhibition. But it could be given that the Star Trek and Star Wars spaceships collections have models in all different scales, so a Moonraker shuttle or helicopters could be included.
I would prefer if they'd stick to as few scales as possible - 1:43 for cars and full-size Bond in Motion exhibits like the motorcycles, wetbike and bathosub, 1:72 for all helicopters and 1:400 for planes and space vehicles.

I saw an advert for the Corgi DB10 for the first time today, in a mailer I received from Diecast Legends - they say they expect the item to be delivered in January and be priced at £19.99 ... and confirmation that it will be in 1:36 scale.

I've always loved that P1800 - it's certainly Volvo's prettiest ever creation IMHO. Did you use the Atlas Editions model for the diorama?
Yes, I have used the Atlas collection. Please find below the print that I have made to fit the box.

Highly unlikely that I'd subscribe again though, I'll be cherry picking if this does go ahead. (My wife is going to go ballistic!)
