Hello again. No I`m not conected with the james bond car people, I`ve been collecting them from issue 1 and like some of you, was a little dissapointed by the DBS. I used to do models as a hobby so I had a crack at Minigeffing it.
Wow! Very impressed! Top work, thanks for uploading them so I can see.
I love the way you have presented these pictures in the montages.
Just out of interest, what did you use to give the muddy chalky effect for the DBS, as I am planning to do the same to my DBS (see page 75). Also how did you create the bullet holes and shattering effect on the front windshield?
O.k. Here goes. Having cut out the door, as you did with a hacksaw, I filed the edges down smooth. The bullet holes were done by holding a needle over a flame until hot and then gently prodding the windscreen to melt the holes. The shattered effect was done, again useing a pin and gently scratching out from the bullet hole in light lines and then criss-cross them like a web. I did this to the inside of the windscreen so as not to push it into the car. The bullet riddled dash was built up from black Milliput (a modeling clay) as well as the door trim. I prodded bullet holes into the Milliput with a pin (same pin, this does`nt have to be an expensive project!)and left it to set.
Once set, I masked off the wiper area on the windscreen with a post it note. (high-tech or what!) then sprayed over, not at, the car from a few feet away so the paint rained down over the car like dust. I used light brown and white acrylic paint. Where the most dirt would gather like the front and sides I dry-brushed. Dabbing a thickish brush into the paint and then cleaning off as much as possible on a tissue. Then dusting over the car so the paint sticks to the highlighted edges but not to the more hidden areas. Finally I dabbed paint over parts of the car that would be spashed with mud (too much in my view. I`ll do another one as the car they sent me was covered in dirt, riddled with bullets and missing a door!)Where was I?. Oh yes, the base was built up with Milliput and grit from the garden and painted the same way as the car. Hope this helps ! Happy modeling and for your own sake wear an oven-mitt!.
I`ll be making some other backgrounds soon for the GT40 and Mustang mach I from DAF two wheels, alley kind of thing. I`ll post them if anyone is interested.
Hi. No, this was the 1:43 DBS from the car collection. I built up the diorama over the road base so that it still kept the lettering. Your one was brilliant, bye the way.

thanks very much. i prefer using the issue 20 model, the 58 has a few errors and is more difficult to convert.
thanks for all the tips tony. and thanks a bunch for uploading the backgrounds as well, i think i might use the base from the alfa 159 as it should be a lot easyer then making my own.
Damn.I wish i`d thought of that. However I am getting another DBS to tinker with so I may try to do a scene with both cars.I`ve got a long display case thats been sitting around for a while. Will you be converting any other models or just the DBS? I might have a crack at the Sherpa van if I can pick up a spare. Could be fun ripping that to shreads!

your diorama's good by the way.[/quote]
Sure there are plenty of errors on my model. It was more like a fun way to spend an afternoon. Though, having said that I did remove the fire extinguisher, Bond is holding a machine gun and Mr. White is tied up in the boot!
Will you be doing any more conversions in future?
I`d like to try the Sherpa Van. What do you think?

mr white in the boot? how and why?
as far as conversions go, i'm not planning on any in the near future, other than what i've already got on the go of course.
i've got a wedding coming up soon anyways, so i'm a little pushed for time.
The Mr.White thing was sort of a joke. But the gun and fire extinguisher is true. Since your here, what did you use to make the bullet riddled dash? That was spot-on and I`d like to do the same to my next DBS.

put it this way tone, when it comes to model making, i follow one straight forward rule;
take no shortcuts.
i try and keep my quality as high as possible, otherwise theres no point in doing a job. i don't want to be known as a cowboy, so i use professional methods and materials.

although i've never read the books, i coulda sworn the bentley fleming chose was a 'bentley 3and a half litre', although such a model didn't exist??
maybe i'm wrong, but i could have sworn i read that somewhere.
