Just wondering if you've received any issues recently, Legoman? 54 was the last one I received about a month ago now, and so far no other issues have appeared on their dispatch information for my subscription on their website ?:) Considering we live in the same city I assume we'd receive them around the same time as each other.
Sorry, I've been really busy with other stuff recently and haven't been able to keep up with this thread for a while. I was in the same boat as you and I sent them an e-mail. I then received issue 54 (Chevy Impala LALD) on its own in a box a week and a half ago. Then a couple of days later I got a phone call from Bissetts saying they had implemented a new computer system and in doing so had lost a number of subscriber's addresses for the mailing labels. Mine was one of those they'd lost temporarily. She went on to explain they were now out of stock of issue 55s and had ordered more. This week I received issues 56 & 57 as per normal, but still there's no sign of issue 55. I have sent another e-mail asking them to confirm it's still on backorder for me.
I was just looking back at those great diagrams again. Are you sure you don’t work for the official designers? They really are fantastic, and now you’ve done a tank background and a sideways mustang as well, words can not express how good these are. When bond 23 and 24 comes out I will be calling on you to make some backdrops for cars from them.
If I had another OHMSS DBS then I would ask you to make a backdrop for Tracy’s death scene, which would be cool, with the flowers and built holes
Also you could do a DB5 backdrop for GoldenEye and Casino Royale!
I`m glad you liked them and you have some good ideas. However the tank was the last diorama I will be posting and It is with regret that I will not be returning to this site in future.
Good luck and keep collecting. They may be worth something one day.
Got the KA and the layland today. Really like the van but I think the ka looked better on kingsmodels pictures than it does in the flesh, so to speak. The back in particular is lacking in detail, however I do like all of the Greene planet and hydrogen loges all over it.
it surprises me what some people will buy off ebay tbh. i've seen literaly countless items sold on there for daft prices, even when its quite obvious there's something dodgy going on.
Also had my Ka and Sherpa arrive in last couple of days, and agree Ka is as bad as Sherpa is good. Did wonder why the Ford looked so awful, as comparing it to the photos of the real thing it did seem to be all in proportion. Think may have found the problem, whilst the car may be in scale, the wheels look like they are from a 1:64 model. Have taken the wheels off one of my kids discarded toys, and whilst nowhere near perfect, in my mind, does make the car look a lot better.
Have been trying to upload a photo of it- never done it before, and am failing dismally
Do think doesn't look as good in photos as in metal. Also tried wheels from the Z3 from early in collection which are a lot better, but didn't want to cannibalize that model permanently.
Coincidentally, the Ferrari 355 also has a similar problem. Wheels themselves are same size all round, but front tyres are smaller than rears which makes it look a bit odd.

Umm, at the risk of stating the bleeding bloody obvious, this is called a staggered wheel setup. The rears are larger than the fronts in powerful rear wheel drive cars. Pretty common in powerful sports sedans and sports cars. The wheels are supposed to be this way on both the real car and the model.
Anyone got any idea what collection this comes from?
Initially thought the same about the Ferrari, which is why has taken so long to realize- but the front tyres fit the rear wheels and vice versa, but as the model has the wheels turned the tyres from the rear are too big to allow free wheeling, so looks to me like they put smaller tyres on to get round the problem (re reading original post didn't make that clear so apologies).
As for the model of the Mercedes, the base is from the French Route Bleu diorama, but should car should be a Citroen DS (http://www.altaya.fr/ficha.php?id=136&pagina=todas#enl). Most of the Altaya models are made by Ixo, and generally very good quality.

In the past I have taken that model completely apart to fix the front wheels so they will rotate freely, but I must admit that I did not notice (or even try to cross-fit the tyres) the difference in the tyre sizes. Similarly, I am not familiar enough with the Ferrari F355 to know the wheel sizes used on that car, but I will say this... staggered wheel setups do not necessarily require different sized wheels to be used front to rear. It is therefore physically possible to fit the front tyres to the rear wheels and vice versa. The only problem comes when you want to fit those wheels back onto the car where the tyre may hit the strut or suspension trailing arm.
One example of this is the BMW E24 (old 6 series). That car has a lot of room on the rear axle for very large and wide tyres to be fitted. The front however is not as generous for room. It is a relatively common practice to fit the more powerful versions of that car with 8.1/2J wheels all round but with 235 tyres on the front and 255 tyres on the rear. Hence you have a staggered tyre setup, but without staggered wheels. The 255 tyred wheels will not clear the front suspension strut however, so rotation front to rear is not possible (or desireable). In this case a 235 is the smallest recommended tyre size for an 8.1/2" rim and the 255 is the largest. I don't know if an F355 is the same or not, but it could be.
Just looked it up, rears are 265/40ZR18, fronts 225/40ZR18, so the rears are wider, and as both have are 40 profile should be marginally 'taller'.
Got the S Class Mercedes and Alfa 159 today. Have always wanted a model of the W126 S Class and think this is a very good reproduction.
The Alfa is good, but to my mind let down by the grille and lights, which just look nasty. The grille and lights are just a single silver plastic moulding, and look more like something from a toy. Don't know if it is a hard design to reproduce, as have a Norev 159 and whilst they used clear plastic for the fog lights (like the UH bond model), the lights are also silver plastic on the Norev model (at least the grille itself is black with a silver strip as it should be unlike the Bond collection one).
I too got the afla and merc today.
the merc is better than expected, but still think it is a shame that the box is faceing the way it is, as it would have been good to display it right behind the 750il
i have moved my damaged dbs over to the alfa's box and put the alfa (with added figeurs over to the dbs's box for now. will post some pictures when they are finished.
I can't tell you how much I wish the BMW E28 police cars from Octopussy were part of the collection. I'm a big E28 fan, so that would be my favourite if it were there.
good news!!
looks good, cant wait for the alfa to go with it as well
sorry to have a different opinion but I find it terrible!
The screen used cars has chrome bumpers, the front grille was really black without chrome surroundings. The number plates are off-scale and the entire car looks like being under morphium, kind of swollen 8-). The entire rear end is also poorly done.
And don't get me started on the wheels.....

Yes, it is a shame that the wheels not being straight but as for the other details, they seam fine to me.
I don’t understand why people complain about model quality and very small differences from the film, sure I too would like it to be 100% perfect but it is only £8.
It is still to a much higher standard than anything that corgi or any one else (other than £30 minichamps) has ever offered us.
yes, the model (and others in the range) has mistakes on it, but you're buying it, along with a magazine, in a case and delivered to you all for just £8.
i'm afraid you get what you pay for, and for £8, all the models have been fairly reasonable from what i've seen.

don't get me wrong guys. I am a big fan of the collection and I am aware, that the quality in relation to the price is awesome.
But I am really disappointed, how poorly the BMW came out and I feel, that I have the right to say it.
Or is this is the thread where every new model is being welcomed with branding applause and critics are being shut down immediately.

I apologize for any offence taken. The topic is called ‘James Bond Car Collection - Questions and praise’ not criticism for the sake of criticism. I love the way you have taken some quotes out of context to try to make me look stupid. 8-)
Anyway, of course you are entitled to your own opinion and I for one welcome comments on models from everyone, but if you haven’t got anything nice to say then what is the point of wasting your time righting it in the first place. A little bit of positivity never hurt anyone.
My suggestion to you is that if you don’t like anything about that particular issue then save yourself £8.
Once again I am sorry for any offence taken and may I take this opportunity to wave the peace flag, as I really don’t want to be that person who has an argument with someone that goes on for 3 pages. -{
I also love the collection as a whole. There are definitely some beauties in it, but despite the price, some criticisms are in order: some poor choices of models, very variable quality control (which is why I prefer to buy my models at the local newsagent rather than subscribe - at least then I can choose a model that's been properly assembled) and lastly, an uneven treatment of the movies (poor LTK & TWINE, only 1 model each).
Here are my lastest pics...
sorry for the delay, have been a bit snowed under in the last few weaks.
I tryed to use tony's back drop from the qurary, fantasic as it was it dident look quite right with the base unit as there was a notable difference in the shades browns.

I do wish the wheels weren't turned though. From past experience of the models with turned wheels UH really don't do it very well.

Any ideas why some of the action displays have figures in and some don't.
I'm really hoping that us die hard collectors are going to get another free gift towards the end of the collection too.
