Further to the Corgi and Husky queries, Husky was the for-runner to Corgi Juniors - therefore they are both the same company, haven't checked the video to check whether either or both were used in the film. From memory, Husky toys were produced under that name purely for F.W. Woolworths (as they were then known) later changing to Husky when sold further afield.

rhinoman, i wouldent make that display cabinet just yet, i wouldent put it past them to extend the collection again. Plus Range Rover with Horse Box may well be in a larger box, especially if they plan on making the horse box as well.

I was speaking to Peter Nelson - owner of the Bond museum this week, who owns the original 'Q' boat and he said that GE Fabbri had been around a day earlier measuring it up to make a 1:43 model of it for this collection and that the collection was being expanded to 100 models!

    K'in ell!
That would be a good addition to the collection, but 100 models?
    Another trip to Ikea then.

I wish they would produce confirmation on their webb site one way or the other.
Some times it feels like we're being scammed.

This is very interesting, if they do the Q boat, then the door is pretty much open to anything!! I’m getting angry with my self now for getting exited when I should be mad and angry with these people. It is also interesting that they bothered to measure up the boat! Considering the attention to detail that the paid on the V8 Volante.

Expanding to 100 models? I'm in two minds as to whether that's good news or not.

Positives: there are still a few cars that haven't been shortlisted yet that would be interesting to have (e.g. the Lada Niva from TWINE & the Ford Mondeo from CR), but that list is not very long...
And I suppose 100 is a nice round number.

Negatives: this is really becoming The Long Goodbye - I hope this collection is wrapped up before the end of 2010 (in the UK) and doesn't run over into the next decade, I don't have an attention span that long! And there is a very good possibility that we could end up with more GT40-type models in that final 15 - or yet another variation on an already-covered Aston Martin ... GoldenEye DB5, anyone?!?
  • ak007ak007 LondonPosts: 343MI6 Agent
I would happily continue to 100 if the list is this or similar...

    http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_12574-GP-Beach-Buggy.html

http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_60186-Ford-Escort-1995.html no what you will say about this one, but if its done well, with figures standing next to it, then it could be very good.

http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_4316-Aston-Martin-DB5-1964.html I wouldn’t mind another db5 as this would be the first 'standard model' with no gadgets

http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_25675-Aston-Martin-DB5-1964.html this would be nice as I don’t have the minichamps version

    http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_91828-Chevrolet-G-Series-1984.html

    http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_25674-Ford-Mondeo-2007.html

    http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_67320-Ford-Crown-Victoria-P71-2001.html

    http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_203082-Nissan-Bluebird-U12.html

This is a nice mix of the new and the old, and in my opinion would draw the collection to a satisfactory close. With the lack of Rolls Royce, this is the best we can hope for. This would bring it to 99 issues, number 100 would be the Q-boat.

Has anyone else got any ideas?

I'm a new contributor to this site but have been watching it with interest for quite some time now, having collected a select number of the Fabbri cars. With the thought in mind of what vehicles may have been missed, has anybody mentioned the beautiful 59 Chevy Impala used in Living Daylights?

Good suggestions, I would buy the hearses no question. Also, if they can do the Q-boat why not the boat craft from Moonraker? Or the gondola? Or the yellow enemy mini-submarine in Spy? Or the 'dragon' tank from Dr No?

Hi everyone, long time no see. 'been watching this topic though.

and to get going, here's my list of vehicles i'd love to see:

Aston Martin DBS - on Her Majesty's Secret Service: very last scene, with Tracy in bond's lap, motorcyclist on the background.

this is an easy one, because they allready have the car, the base, the background minus the aston, and the likeness of lazenby and rigg. this should be easy money and a great model. i'm working on one right now...

Lincoln Continental Mark VII - Licence To Kill: Bond at Miami airport or at Leiter's house.

    Kenworth W900B - The Living Daylights: just look at the pic;

    ltk-1.jpg

now thát's just swéét as a model, would mean a higher box or a less vertical angle :o B-)

Lada Niva - The World is not Enough: with open boot lid & bond in the back...

Volga 3102 - Goldeneye: chased by bond in the tank, with dent's & scratches...

Two more could be the Vauxhall Velox in Dr.No -
    39207131.th.jpg
    - and the M38 Jeep in Goldfinger -
    87223032.th.jpg
    - if only because I reckon it's far more interesting than the Octopussy Jeep!

The Vauxhall would be a good addition, thats a good old British banger there!
A lot more interesting than the bloody GT40!
I must say also, the Kenwood would be a good one too, but in 1:43 scale it would still be a big case even if it was on all its wheels!!

There are some good suggestions from people, so why do we get some naff ones still?
Are they just using up stock?
  • rhinomanrhinoman Lancashire, UKPosts: 67MI6 Agent
Does anyone on UK subscription have issues 68 & 69 yet - as I'm still waiting for mine? If so, as I suspect something's gone wrong this time, does anyone have an address / email address to write to at GE Fabbri? Never had a problem before.

100 models, erk!!! Much bigger display cabinet required, that's 7 cars x 15 shelves, it'll reach the ceiling!
I can't help feeling that it's maybe a self-fulfilling prophecy as - the more enthusiasm displayed here for lists of models that are worthy of being featured, the more likely they will extend the series. Which IMHO is a good thing, but it would be better if they would come out and confirm it!

    Cheers, rhinoman B-)

just for people's attention, the JBCC distributor found on the link above is normally quite a good service for backorders and missing issues. however, bare in mind that if the issue you're after is not currently in production, you can end up waiting ages for you issue to arrive. i had to wait 2 months for mine to come through.

normally though, the waiting time is 3 weeks-ish. the thing that really annoyed me though is that they say allow 28 days for delivery. by that, they mean 28 days from when they take payment, not when you place the order. so if the issue you're after isn't in stock, they won't take payment until they get more in, and then your 28 days start from then.

hope all that makes sense, and good luck rhino, hope ya issues arrive soon.

    Hi Again

Its been so long since I posted .I was looking for a way of displaying my car collection ages ago. I finally managed to obtain a display case from Big W store. It was a lockable display case in aluminium and Glass with lighting inside. It measures 1500 long x 1300 High x 300 deep.I got a job working for the renovation team who were doing a refit at the store. It was pretty cool work and I enjoyed it.The case cost me $50.they are refitting all there stores so stores zoned for refit could be contacted regarding these cabinets.I will put up pics as soon as Ive got around to adding the models to it.

W ere quite a way behind the Uk with issues. I recieved 54 and 55 on wednesday.Im very pleased with the quality and price of the models but I do think w eve had enough lotus and old astons and rehashes of former vehicles. They re are so many other vehicles to choose from and I feel the chinese makers and worse the designers are just spewing out same cars with different details and backdrops. Hey But will the collection ever be complete without the Roller from Goldfinger. Its 'THE' James Bond car for me.

And the news that maybe 100 issues will become available whew!, and a boat. That would be exciting. Im renovating a james bond style speedboat at the moment in my shed .Its a 1969 Bellboy barracuda ski boat. Its in a sorry state. a few different vehicles besides cars in the collection would be great. W eve already had the special subsciption issues, none of which were cars. what do you think?.

I m seriously worried about my outlay on this collection. Im finding it tough finding permanent work so I do feel guilty spending our familys money on it but I ve cut down on the beers so its a little bit easier.

The collection is way too big for my gamesroom wall. so its in the spare room at the moment. I really dont know what to do with it. I see a few collections on ebay popping up but personally I think I ll see it through to the end now. I really enjoy the quirky cars. Looking forward to the old Mini . I do think They should offer subscription members an extra gift for collecting for so long. what do you think?

I m enjoying popping in here and seeing all the old members getting heated over models and the guys like mini jeff who have pull their models apart. W ere still going and new members are joining so its all good.

    see you soon

I got 68 & 69 a couple of days ago. The Lotus is nice, but as mentioned earlier in the thread the Aston is a bit of a dissapointment with the rear end being all wrong. Its interesting to note that all the photos in the magazine manage to avoid showing the rear end of the film car.

Lucky Brits, it looks like you guys are getting the issues first worldwide nowadays. I popped over to my local newsagent earlier to collect our today's release, 38 issues lower down the sequence:

Bear a thought for us poor souls in New Zealand. We are about to (hopefully) receive issues 28 and 29!!
With the collection heading to 100 issues, thats about 3 years away for completion!!!
  • MovieCarFanMovieCarFan Posts: 973MI6 Agent
Just a thought in defence of the issue 69 Aston, if a Vantage had its roof chopped off by 'Q' to be in ‘summer mode’, isn’t there a possibility it should have actually looked like the Fabbri model rather than the standard Volante used in the movie??? Knowing that the Bond movie producers have been happy to allow visual slip-ups to remain in the final cut (such as the bouncing moon buggy wheel in Diamonds) it could be argued that the model is potentially quite accurate to the storyline, and it was actually the producers who cut financial corners by using a much cheaper solution in the form of the Volante. Either way, as a die cast collector for many years I know this model is well worth having just as an Aston Martin/ James Bond movie talking piece, and there’s also a good chance this could make its value rise in years to come.
  • ak007ak007 LondonPosts: 343MI6 Agent
Well said! That’s what I tried to say back on page 50. It certainly makes more sense as far as the story is concerned. I personally really like the model and is (along with the new lotus turbo) are great additions the set. Did anyone else notice that on the side of the box of these two issues that the lotus/Aston logos weren’t shown as they have been on previous issues’?
