Hi, everyone. I have just received issues 98 & 99 and included is a letter from the publishers to say that there are now 10 more issues to go before the collection is complete. I understood, and all the comments on this subject seem to agree, that there was to be 110 issues. Either my maths are not what they used to be but I only make that 109 issues for the collection to be complete. There seems to be talk of a 4th free gift model but I guess this would be in addition to the numbered series. The contributor to Wikipedia lists 110 models plus the 4th free gift although all the models issue 100 onwards are unconfirmed. Does anybody have firm information regarding the final number of issues please. Cheers Barry

Maybe they just sent the letter one issue too early?

Still waiting for 96, 97 , 98 and 99!!! Have telephoned them every week now since four issues worth of money left my account ! Friday they told me I should get them today! They also said 110 issues and that's it so that makes 11 to go plus the rumoured horsebox so twelve additional models.

You never know they may stretch it again as depending on number of subscribers it is large income to give up for any income especially in this financial climate.

Just got my 98 and 99 and the letter re the 8 weeks between issues. Joy. Oh.. and why oh why did they put the range rover convertible in a big box?? Might see if we get sent a replacement for the Anglia box then use the smaller one for the RR with a cut down back scene. The tank would fit nicely in the longer box (re a previous post ages ago). Will the replacement Anglia come without a phonecall to them do we know???

Good idea about the box swap. Not sure i am happy about waiting eight weeks between issues albeit that's what I am doing now for 96,97,98 and 99. Is this between individual issues which would make a further 88 weeks until collection is completed spring 2012!!! or eight weeks between each two issues Sept 2011. I too would like to ask is the replacement automatic or do we need to contact GE FAbbri? I think the Range rover is in the bigger box as it was intended it had the horsbox but there may have been a problem at manufacture hence we are getting it as a free gift later???

I contacted them a few weeks ago ref the "Anglia" & they said it would be January before it is sent out to subscribers..so I assume it will be automatically sent. -{ :007)

Cool! thanks for that. I assume its going to be 8 weeks between double issues. I always get two issues sent together per month at the mo.

On the subject of a horse box to go with the drop-head Range Rover, someone on another site has had a go making their own:

    utiKJ.jpg

If the scales are anywhere near correct, that would mean a future JBCC version would need to go in a VERY big box!!! :s

But if it was Gift number 4!!, then it could be sent in a big case, in a cardboard=box on it's own, packed on it's side???? -{ :007)

What Leijo means is that the total number of vehicles was mentioned just 10 posts earlier - post 2047 to be exact. if you go back and read, say, the last ten pages of posts there's some really interesting stuff in there.
  • Leijo007Leijo007 Posts: 106MI6 Agent
Exactly. I'm sorry, but the total number of issues has been mentioned many times on the last few pages, and people keep coming here asking the same question over and over, without checking if the answer hasn't been given already.

Sorry, but how many there's gonna be in total :o :D

How many???!! :s When what why ??? :))

Hi Cummins ~ welcome to the JBCC thread where we're all very nice really!
The answer, we think, is 110. But we have been duped before so it's anyone's guess.
Although a letter has apparently been sent to some subscribers by those in the know, i.e. G E Fabbri, confirming that the end is nigh.

    Cheers,
    Rhinoman B-)

Well said Rhinoman! We are indeed all very nice people! It's a diecast car collection forum not politics. Keep it light and easy. I hope it continues maybe an announcement of the next bond movie will prompt a new wave of models. I hope they are not stopping this in favour of the DB5 kit. Ok for fun what other gems could be included to give the collection another wave of issues.

What about the petrol tanker in Casino Royale, the airport Tug ...????? A couple to start us off...maybe

I was watching A View to a Kill last night and I thinking, wouldn't it be good to have the fire engine and then reality kicked in, as there hasn't been a case yet big enough to fit it in. I think it would look good though with Bond hanging off the ladder.

There are still so many modes of transport!!..the collection could go on & on...but can the Wallet???? :# -{ :007)

To be realistic, the fire engine can not be done at the price. I remember, when I was a child, the Corgi LaFrance cost much more (double?) than the James Bond Aston Martin or Lotus, and therefore I did not get one (and I got pretty much ...).

I am still hoping that Corgi will adapt their 1:50 LaFrance fire engine and add it to their next Definitive Ultimate Superior James Bond Collection.
Until then, I have bought a 1990's Corgi and am (still) planning to repaint the roof white, remove the tampo printing, and re-decal it.

There was a Corgi with an enclosed tillerman cab on the rear like in the film (I couldn't find it on Ebay, so this version may be rare now).
However, I have found one (Corgi US 51802) which would not need to be repainted (although the tillerman cab is not closed):

This is already painted red with white roof and has a single large (albeit blue) light on the roof. The Corgi is not a perfect match as it has an extended closed cab but I find it close enough.

hey all - i just had 98 and 99 and a letter saying another 10 - published every 8 weeks instead of 4 - so does that mean 109 issues ?????

Can't wait for that 1/8 scale DB5 to start properly too !!!!!!!

As a resident of the US, I was unable to get a subscription and that, coupled with the fact that a lot of the vehicles didn't interest me, meant that I had to resort to buying online - mainly through eBay.

Now I'm looking at Wikipedia's list of the final 9 and, frankly, I'm ready to call it a day.

I'll get the Bondola but after that it's series of "background" cars - neither integral to the story or interesting as vehicles.

103 - Ford Consul (Dr. No) Bond is driven to Strangways house. Boring.[/*]

104 - ZiL 117 (Casino Royale) In the trunk is the dead Obanno. Boring and no figures.[/*]

105 - Ford Country Squire (Goldfinger) As Bond is dropped off at Goldfinger's Kentucky stud farm. Boring.[/*]

106 - Ford Bronco II (Quantum of Solace) Bond calls M so that she can track Dominic Greene, Bond follows him to his private jet. Really boring.[/*]

107 - Ford Econoline (Diamonds are Forever). Driven by Saxby. OK, this one's marginally boring.[/*]

108 - Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II (Licence to Kill) Bond's transport in Isthmus City. Not so boring but another Silver Shadow II?[/*]

109 - Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe (Live and Let Die) CIA agent Harold Strutter follows Bond to the Fillet of Soul. Boring and I had hoped this would be Sheriff J. W. Pepper's Chevy Impala police car which would have been one I'd buy.[/*]

110 - Aston Martin DBS V12 (damaged) (Quantum of Solace) Bond with Mr. White in the trunk chased by the Alfas in a tunnel while loosing the door of the car. The third DBS V12? Speeding along with the door missing and no driver? I'll wait on this one.[/*]
With all the vehicles that Fabbri could have done, I'm really disappointed that they're going out with a wimper and a collection of repackaged standard vehicles.

    Sorry, to be so negative.

    Jim

I totally agree that the last batch are a bit disappointing.

I picked-up issue 100 today and it has the same letter in there saying 10 more issues. So, further confirmation: 100+10=110. It also confirms that 101 will be the RR Silver Cloud II (AVTAK) and 102 will be the Bondola (MR). 101 will be in the UK shops on 1st Dec and then it will be every 4 weeks after that.

    Regards,
    Gary
