Does anyone know if Issue 89 - Anglia is going to replaced or not?
Any info would be gratefully recieved.
They said around the end of this month!!!,but I have not had any info other than that....Maybe now they have changed suppliers,we might not get it???? -{ :007)
Jag, it's interesting that they changed around the release order for some of their foreign markets. Still...
"Issue 104 Zil (CR)"
That will be Ixo; I have no doubt. Reportedly, the moulds are finished for the USSR AvtoLegende version and it will be released in Russia in August. However, the model itself should start appearing on eBay China and eBay Hong Kong about 2-4 months prior to that (that's generally when they finish packing the models, though they're still writing the magazine...so the USSR AvtoLegende version should show up in May, June, or April at the earliest). If the whole "4-week delay" continues, then we're getting the AVTAK Silver Shadow in mid February, the Ford Consul in the middle of March, and the ZIL-117 in...April, which fits in perfectly with USSR AvtoLegende's release schedule.
Dear Dalkowski - I very much doubt they will change the release order for different countries. It has not happened before, and in Oz we receive the same magazines as everyone else (with the price shown in British pounds and South African rands, but not in our dollars). I think it would simjply be too much trouble. More than likely the list is still not 100% accurate.
The list Jag has supplied is the one originally released by GE Fabbri/Bissett in June last year (see page 71 of this thread). At the time it was the intended release order, but it has been subsequently re-ordered by bumping UH-sourced models up the list, due to delays with IXO-sourced models.
Hopefully MiG29 Fulcrum will be posting here later today to confirm which model will in fact be #103 after he has picked up the Bondola issue from his newsagent.
"Hopefully MiG29 Fulcrum will be posting here later today to confirm which model will in fact be #103 after he has picked up the Bondola issue from his newsagent."
I already asked an eBay seller. The LTK Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II is going to be #103.
"The list Jag has supplied is the one originally released by GE Fabbri/Bissett in June last year (see page 71 of this thread)."
Oh, gotcha. That would explain a few things. Regardless, the ZIL-117 would still seem to be released in April; i.e. when Ixo finishes up the USSR AvtoLegende versions. I'm guessing the difference could be as little as the number plates.
It all makes sense now, and that's what I meant too. Bissett Mags are a Fabbri distributor and I have previously found out that they are not always quite up to date. In fact, this was the first time ever that they confrimed that no more than 110 issues are planned. Previously they would always say that X releases were planned at the moment but the manufacturer reserved the right to extend the collection.
Just recieved my SECOND DELIVERY of Issues 100 & 101 as the first was damsged and gusess what both magazines are again badly damaged. Packed like this? Pages GLUED TOGETHER on one Mag and Torn pages on the second mag!!!
I have rang and a Third Set has been requested.
Can G E Fabbri please address the picking / packing problems with their Packing House as this is now ongoing. and is across both the Car Collection aznd appears to be with the DB5 Collection?
It is around the corner (according to address label) but unfortunately cannot pick up from there.
I've just picked up 102 (Bondola) from the newsagent. According to the magazine, 103 will be the Ford Bronco II from QOS. Not a particularly inspiring vehicle IMHO.
from Dalkowski110 "Hopefully MiG29 Fulcrum will be posting here later today to confirm which model will in fact be #103 after he has picked up the Bondola issue from his newsagent."
"According to the magazine, 103 will be the Ford Bronco II from QOS. Not a particularly inspiring vehicle IMHO."
I guess the eBay guy is wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. However, my guess is this one's going to be Ixo due to the paint scheme (or lack thereof, which Ixo excels at reproducing). Even if it's not a particularly inspiring vehicle, it likely will be a detailed one. I'm excited about this one purely as a model car collector!
However, as to the Lincoln that Rainier Wolfcastle found, that appears to be photoshopped from the eBay link I posted below. It is in reality an Ixo-for-Altaya Taxi Series 1967 Lincoln Continental Los Angeles Taxi (Airport Limo). Here's the source for the photoshopping...
Note the slightly loose chrome around the front fender, the exact same angle that the slightly-bent antenna (which should be perfectly straight) passes over the windshield, and literally the exact same angle of photography. Also the weird shadow under the photoshopped car that appears to be the unedited remnants of the airport limo's base.
I should have expressed myself more clearly - what I really :v wanted to say was: "I have found on Ebay that Ixo makes a nice Lincoln Continental Lehmann-Peterson stretch limo that could easily be used by Fabbri for the Bond Collection."
Of course the base and lettering are a quick Photoshop from me. Just wanted to see the reaction on Wikipedia and the stock markets. :v
It's a '67 so it has a different front to the '64 used in TB. As Dalko wrote correctly, it is available in the Altaya "Taxis of the world" collection in black (same model as the standard Ixo CLC033) or in dark blue as a 1964 (!) taxi. Close enough for a '64 obviously for Ixo ...
I thought the writing on the base looked a little different/ suspect! I too looked on ebay to only find the non-Bond Lincoln. would have been a nice addition to the JBCC.
So now we only have 6 more to be confirmed/revealed. It's business time.
Actually Altaya, as they published the magazines. The taxis themselves are actually correct, but the years are badly off. For example, we see a GAZ-21T Volga as a 1955 Moscow Taxi...a full year before the first Volga rolled off the assembly lines at the Gorky Automobile Plant. Regardless, it is accurate for an early 1960's taxi. Another anachronism is the rare "1961" Tatra Prague Taxi. However, the design is a T603-3...which didn't come into use until the late 1960's, if I recall correctly. The taxi itself, however, is still correct. Likewise the Lincoln. The year is wrong, but the car itself is correct. If one were to make a Code 3 of the Lehman-Peterson limo we see in TB, you'd have to remove the trunk lid-mounted aerial. I also wonder if you could fit the '64 grille from the GF Contintental earlier in the series to the front of the Ixo "taxi."
As for the LaSalle...wow. 1/43 scale American hearses are relatively poorly represented and I don't believe anything else goes as far back as the LaSalle Miller (not Meteor...they were Miller's competitor). Until Neo announced its resin Cadillac S&S Hearse, the DAF Cadillac Hearse was also going for huge amounts of money. The Brooklin models of the 1950 Packard-Henney Hearse and the 1952 (I think) Packard-Henney "Junior" Hearse also sell really well. Still, the price that one went for is utterly ridiculous. I've seen much cheaper ones on eBay.co.uk where the seller was willing to ship to the USA for a very low fee.
BTW, here are some of my own suggestions if you do indeed want to make your own Bond cars, a la what RW wishes to do with the TB Lehman-Peterson Continental...not counting unreleased cars, btw...
For DN:
-1961 Vauxhall PA Velox (Professor Dent's car)...made in the correct Alpine Green and correctly sans wing mirrors by Corgi Vanguards. The only modification you need to perform on it are to paint the hubcaps a matching alpine green.
-If you're REALLY into Code 3, you can get a 1959 Austin Cambridge from the Altaya "La Route Bleue" diorama with the British tourists. However, extensive repainting would need to be done, as well as adding as a taxi sign on the roof.
For FRWL:
-1961 Chevrolet 30-Series "One Tonner". Corgi already made this one, albeit quite badly. You need to repaint the front bumper yellow, add side mirrors, add the dual exhaust stacks, and put a decal saying "Chevrolet" onto the grille.
-1958 Dodge Custom Royal. This car is basically background scenery, but it gets a surprising amount of screen time as the Russian spies get into the Citroen tail car behind it. With no modifications, you can take a Dinky Toys '58 Dodge Custom Royal and make it into this car. Same paint scheme and all. It's the cream one.
-1959 Plymouth Savoy Istanbul Taxi. See if you can't get your hands on a "junkyard condition" Dinky Toys 1959 Plymouth Plaza police car or taxi. It's the same car, but with different chromework. Repaint the car and add the appropriate decals (as well as the all-important taxi meter you could probably scratch-build from a 2mm, cube-shaped piece of plastic attached to the antenna on the front).
-1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith. Again turn to Dinky Toys, and again turn to scrapyard condition. You'll be repainting the car, but making no modifications to the bodywork.
For GF:
-The Dodge M-43 Ambulance is available in 1/48 scale from Solido. There are also several detail kits for it.
-1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible (the one Bond gets out of at the airport). You can get the one from Franklin Mint and then repaint dark blue. It's excellently detailed and features an opening hood, opening doors, and correct whitewall tires.
-1956 Mercedes-Benz 220S. Available from Minichamps in the correct color, no conversion needed.
For TB:
-The previously-mentioned Los Angeles Airport Taxi.
-1965 Ford Thunderbird (Largo's car). Take the one from GF, take out Felix and the other CIA guy, re-do the number plates, and put in a Largo figure. I believe it's literally the same car.
-1965 Jaguar E-Type. I'm fairly certain that Corgi Vanguards makes this car in red.
-1965 Scaldia-Volga M22 Combi Luxe Right-Hand Drive. ICV Models made the sedan version (the M21 Luxe RHD) for $300. I believe they plan to make a wagon so you could just wait for it to come out...if you're REALLY hardcore about your Bond cars, at least (I'd pay $300 for it because I'm really into Soviet model cars. However, I can't see anyone who is just a Bond fan doing the same).
For YOLT:
-Austin Mini Moke. Just remove the figures and top from the LALD Moke and paint it flat yellow.
-Hong Kong Police Land Rover. According to IMCDB, this is a 1956 107" Series I Station Wagon. That should be possible to find. However, due to the poor lighting, I can't imagine getting the paint scheme right would be very easy.
-1959 Subaru 360 (Visible in the chase scene between the Toyota 2000GT and the Toyopet Crown Deluxe). Ebbro makes one of these in the correct ivory color. No modification needed.
-1959 Chevrolet Impala (Visible in the same shot as the Subaru 360). Made by several companies, but I don't believe in bronze, so you'd need to repaint it.
-1963 Prince Gloria Taxi. Start off with an Ebbro 1964 Prince Gloria Super Six, repaint it, and add a taxi sign. NOT an easy Code 3.
-1962 Toyota Publica (visible in the chase scene, parked). Made by Norev for jpcars.jp in the same color you see it in the movie.
For OHMSS:
-I think someone makes the Ford Escort Mk. I, but you'd need VERY heavy modifications to make it into the race car we see it in the film as.
-Mercedes-Benz 200D Universal (another background vehicle). You can get this unusual model from Spark Models, but not in the correct color. The closest you can get is dark green rather than the very pale green on the movie version.
DAF:
-Mercedes-Benz 600 SWB (Blofeld's car). Available from AUTOArt without any modification to color at all. A superb model, too. Only the number plates and country code would need to be changed.
LALD:
-Well, you could make a Code 3 out of the existing Nova police car to get one of the chase cars at the New Orleans airport.
TMWTGG
-Mercedes-Benz W115. Made in blue by Ixo, so would require repainting. Be aware that the movie car is bizarrely shown to be right-hand drive.
-1955 Chevrolet 150. Made by Road Champs as the Bel Air, so you'd need to SEVERELY tone down the chrome during the repaint.
TSWLM:
-Austin Mini Moke. Make the same mods to the YOLT Mini Moke.
MR:
-Austin Mini Moke. See above, but needs to be pulling a scratch-built trailer.
FYEO:
-1968 Mercedes-Benz 200D (Locque's black Mercedes). Ixo makes one in blue. All that would be needed is a repaint.
-1974 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL (Locque's silver Mercedes). Minichamps makes this car in extremely pale, metallic gray. It could at least pass for the car that famously falls off the cliff.
-Zamboni. Made by Road Champs in the correct color scheme. No modifications needed save the decals.
For OP:
-Austin FX4 London Taxi. Available from the "Taxis of the World" series by Altaya.
-Scaldia-Volga M24 Luxe. Incorrect staff car for General Orlov. However, you can get the correct version by getting a Kultowe Auta PRL-u GAZ-24 Volga and switching out the number plates.
I don't really know of much for AVTAK
TLD:
-GAZ-3102 Volga (Pushkin's car in Prague). You can get this totally unaltered from USSR AvtoLegende. Just change the number plates. That's it.
-Lada VAZ-2105 (the KGB car in Prague). Will be out in a few months from USSR AvtoLegende, though may require repainting.
-Lada 1500/Lada 1600 (VAZ-2103-based). Yes, there is the one getting cut in half, but you can get a FAR better model from Foxtoys by Ixo with the correct paint scheme and font for the letters "VB".
-Lada 1200 VB Police Car (seen in Prague). Made by Foxtoys. If you're willing to shell out $600+ (I'm serious) IF you find one, then yes, this model can be yours.
LTK:
-AM General M-936 "Deuce and a Half." Available from Solido in 1/48 scale with various decals and modification kits.
-M5A1 Stuart Tank. Numerous models available in 1/35 scale.
GE:
-VAZ-2121 Lada Niva. Available in the same yellow you see it in the movie in from USSR AvtoLegende.
-VAZ-2105 Lada Riva. The one that gets run over by the tank. Just wait for the USSR AvtoLegende version to come out.
-VAZ-2106 Militsia Police Car. Available from Bauer in the same paint scheme we see in the film, though city-specific and department-specific (GAI) decals are needed.
-UAZ-469B. Available from USSR AvtoLegende. Just change the number plates.
-Tatra T603-2. Available from Ixo Classic in two-tone bordeaux and cream (we never see the car's bottom, so it very well COULD be this color).
TND:
-UAZ-469B: Unaltered from USSR AvtoLegende. Just fiddle with the number plates.
-1987 Daimler Limousine. Just take the Hotel Splendide car from earlier in the series and paint over or T-cut off the Hotel Splendide logo.
-ZIL-131 Military Tanker. Available totally unaltered from Elecon/Arek.
TWINE:
-Lada Niva VAZ-2121L. Although Ixo makes a fine model, go with the Russian Tantal version here. It has the correct steel mesh over the grille, larger side mirrors, and correct hubcaps. With that said, you're going to be doing a LOT of painting and decaling.
-UAZ-469B. See above...
DAD:
-UAZ-469B. See above...although you'll need North Korean decals for it.
-ZIL-131 6x6 Troop Truck. Available from Elecon/Arek.
I'm not too good with more modern car models, so I'll leave out the latest two Bonds.
BTW, here are some of my own suggestions if you do indeed want to make your own Bond cars,
For TB:
-1965 Jaguar E-Type. I'm fairly certain that Corgi Vanguards makes this car in red.
For YOLT:
-Austin Mini Moke. Just remove the figures and top from the LALD Moke and paint it flat yellow.
Better choices for these two vehicles would be the Italian company Box Models for the 'E'Type - probably the best model of the car in this scale, and I think it was available in red - and one of the Vitesse Models of the Moke. The LALD Moke's canopy would be very hard to remove as it seems to be moulded into the windscreen, and the front indicators are from a later model Moke. The seat headrests and chrome windscreen wipers would also have to be removed, and a spare wheel fitted to the rear.
"Better choices for these two vehicles would be the Italian company Box Models for the 'E'Type - probably the best model of the car in this scale, and I think it was available in red - and one of the Vitesse Models of the Moke."
In hindsight, I completely agree about the Moke, but only sort of regarding the E-Type. I also believe that Box Models made the same cars under another line called Best Models. The front bumpers on these cars, for some reason, look more accurate than those labelled Box Models. Otherwise, they are identical and offered in identical colors. Unfortunately, regardless of what brand you choose (I checked literally every one...), not one comes with the correct whitewall tires seen on the car in the film. So that modification will have to be made. The unfortunate thing is that I know AUTOArt, which makes some of the best stuff out there, had planned on doing an E-Type Series I, but for some reason instead decided to do an E-Type Series III. This, in my mind, is the best E-Type model out there, period (also made with optional XK-E badging and left-hand drive for the kind seen and coveted on American roads).
Dalkowski, that is one amazing post you did (#2328) and thanks very much indeed for taking the trouble to detail all that information, also I'm very impressed with you sussing out the Lincoln Continental picture (which had me checking my lists furiously for 2 minutes until I read your posted message with the actual source, haha good decoy Herr Wolfcastle) ...
OK - I know I might regret asking this question as I'm not really a modeller but ... er, what is 'Code 3'?
10-10 till we do it again, good buddy, c'mon
Cheers,
Rhinoman B-) ... doncha just lurv this forum?
"OK - I know I might regret asking this question as I'm not really a modeller but ... er, what is 'Code 3'?"
It's a British and Australian term that originated in the US that I've re-imported into the US because it sounds better to me for built models than "kit-bash" (which implies that you modified a model kit).
Basically, to take something that's already been manufactured and then make modifications to it that could include changing out parts, adding parts, repainting, or even completely rebuilding using existing parts. For example, the Roller with Solido wheels and axles and widened wheel channels that I made is a Code 3.
Ironically, although it is generally considered to be a British and Australian term, "Code 3" comes from an American company called Code 3 Collectibles. Code 3 Collectibles is described excellently by wikipedia...
"The models created by Code 3 Collectibles, are stock models which have been customized or converted from their original state. A few examples of Code 3 Collectibles models plain white cars or vans which have been painted or have had decals added with the livery of a police force such as stripes, force badge/crest, force code etc. Extras such as lightbars and possibly tools have been added as well. Another example would be a plain truck which has been decaled/painted to have the livery parts of a company. Sometimes creating new parts, removing parts, or adding extra parts are done as well to add to the realism of the model."
The term "Code 3" is ALSO slang for lights and sirens, hence the company's name.
The term first gained use with Hot Wheels collectors, who divided their cars into four seperate "codes": Code 1 (original car), Code 2 (Limited Edition), Code 3 (Modification of which more than one example existed), and Code 4 (Modification of which only one existed). However, when the term made its transfer to the UK, Code 4 was eliminated/made into the same thing as Code 3. Code 1 and Code 2 were also dropped simply because saying "regular" and "limited edition" just make more sense to the 1/43 scale collector.
Ironically, Code 3 ALSO means (for real cars) in the UK, Australia, and South Africa "built up from a car that's been totalled/written off/smashed to bits," although the the use of the term by Hot Wheels hobbyists seems to predate this.
Thanks very much rhinoman! I also understand the police radio codes thanks to Dad...a former Manhattan ADA for 33 years who got to know them pretty well*. I remember long ago in class everyone being confused as to why I (very much tongue-in-cheek) wanted my nickname to be "10-91D." )
*Evidently, the police radio codes don't vary from the US to the UK.

Interestingly when they were filming highlander there was a large ship in the loch which wasn't due to leave until much later hence all the fog on a sunny day to hide it.
re the 1/8th James bond db5 I started collecting this kit the first time around it
was to be 75 parts ie 1x£1.99+74x£6.99=£519.25 the kit parts were listed in the
'introducing the model' mag that came with part 1,as we know this publication was
suspend after part 6 but after taking out a subscription from part 1 I only got parts
1&2 5&6 no 3&4 and no gifts I did get all my money back £43.93 in the end and a letter
saying the publication will start again in 2011 with improvements
so I took a new subscription to start again in 2011 but in the first part the 'introduction' mag
it said there will be 85 parts ie 1x£1.99+84x£6.99=£587.16 that £67.91 more than
the first time around and for this all you get is 10 more mags the kit parts must be spread over
these 10 more mags, I am glade I sent the first lot back and got a refund as with the new issue
the kits parts and the mags are in a different order and would not mach up if you kept the
first lot of parts even if you are to get part 7 free if you did not want a refund.
why am I collecting it, I am a james bond car fan not a GE Fabbri fan
yours paul
Does anyone have the James Bond Back Orders phone number. They have removed it from the website and they have not sent a back order to me so I need to "Remind them". I think that orders were handled by the database factory or similar outfit for Fabbri
hey maz, i assume you mean for the car collection - since the previous thread is about the 1/8 scale DB5 -
the number i have for the car collection is 0871 277 0192 - don't know if its for the back orders though

OK - I know I might regret asking this question as I'm not really a modeller but ... er, what is 'Code 3'?
10-10 till we do it again, good buddy, c'mon
Cheers,
Rhinoman B-) ... doncha just lurv this forum?
10-65 good buddy come back ...
Cheers,

*Evidently, the police radio codes don't vary from the US to the UK.
Me & my Brother went fishing a few months ago..snapped this one day -{ :007)
Eileen Donan Castle near Kyle of Lochalsh Scotland, I know it very well. Pop Quiz what hollywood blockbuster was filmed here starring one of the BONDS? 8-)-{
Highlander (Sean Connery)
Entrapment (Sean Connery)
10/10 well done a bit off topic I know
Interestingly when they were filming highlander there was a large ship in the loch which wasn't due to leave until much later hence all the fog on a sunny day to hide it.
was to be 75 parts ie 1x£1.99+74x£6.99=£519.25 the kit parts were listed in the
'introducing the model' mag that came with part 1,as we know this publication was
suspend after part 6 but after taking out a subscription from part 1 I only got parts
1&2 5&6 no 3&4 and no gifts I did get all my money back £43.93 in the end and a letter
saying the publication will start again in 2011 with improvements
so I took a new subscription to start again in 2011 but in the first part the 'introduction' mag
it said there will be 85 parts ie 1x£1.99+84x£6.99=£587.16 that £67.91 more than
the first time around and for this all you get is 10 more mags the kit parts must be spread over
these 10 more mags, I am glade I sent the first lot back and got a refund as with the new issue
the kits parts and the mags are in a different order and would not mach up if you kept the
first lot of parts even if you are to get part 7 free if you did not want a refund.
why am I collecting it, I am a james bond car fan not a GE Fabbri fan

the number i have for the car collection is 0871 277 0192 - don't know if its for the back orders though
