Because of Ixo's method of attaching their cars to their display stands. Universal Hobbies used a rather straight-forward method: a square peg on the bottom of the car fitting into a square hole (just like they do with non-JBCC cars). The big advantage of this type of attaching a car to a display stand is that you can raise and lower the height of the car just by raising and lowering the height of the peg. If it's moulded too high, it's VERY easy to just shave off pieces. But Ixo isn't like that.
Ixo, being concerned with a truer-to-scale undercarriage (something only the DAF Cadillac Hearse lacked...take anything else off the diorama and it's got a pretty nice undercarriage), attaches its cars to small, black-colored stands through which one or two screws are attached. These stands are pretty much inflexible in terms of size due to the screws being the same size and length and, if making a diorama, the road has to be essentially flat for the car to correctly fit. Since the Bronco II is driving over gravel, it basically fails this test. Fortunately, I don't think this problem will repeat itself...
-Issue 104, the ZIL-117, was ONLY seen in a parking space on flat ground.
-Issue 105 (?), the Ford Consul, was only seen driving over either paved roads or unpaved but still quite flat dirt roads.
-Issue 106 (?), the Ford Country Squire, was driving on a flat dirt road.
-Issue 107 (?), the Ford Econoline, was always on pavement when Bert Saxby was driving it (he is mentioned as the driver)
-Issue 108, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II, has been released in all but name and seems to be the last UH car.
-Issue 109 (?), the Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe driven by Harold Strutter, drives down a paved New York City street.
-Issue 110 (?), the DBS with Crash Damage (door missing), was seen on pavement. This MIGHT be a UH release, but outside of it, at this point, I can't really see too much else being made by them.

do you have 102 and 103 yet are they out?
im getting quiet worried :S
They are out. The Bondola is 102 and the Bonco II is 103. By definition, they are out. If they were not, you would not see them anywhere. There is absolutely no reason to be worried. Hobby dealers and regular people get these at different times. Further, I live in the United States, so I do not have them (and indeed, I do not plan on completing the collection, but rather buying only the cars that appeal to me). You will get them soon enough, however.
As a UK subscriber, I haven't yet received them either - but I expect #102 + #103 to be delivered early this week (w/c 14 March) - I reckon that's just over 2 weeks later than I anticipated. Then, the next postal delivery for UK subscribers will be in about 8 weeks, which means probable delivery sometime between 25th April - 16th May ... but who knows?!
That delivery should be #104 ZIL-117 from Casino Royale and (we think) #105 Ford Consul from Dr No.
Cheers

PS Is the Bonco II the clockwork wind-up version of the Bronco?

thankyou for the update as i am also a UK subscriber :007)
Hi Guys I'm the new guy. I have been collecting these cars and issues since it started. I started complaining to them after I took delivery of the cars with slightly cracked cases. They do replace them so now I have 2 sets. I really didn't want to spend that kind of money on the set but I think they may be worth something in the future how much do you think the full set can be worth???
I have the Ford Bronco 11 and can confirm it is in the normal size case.Personally,I think it is rather a nice little model.
Thanks for confirming that, Winnie
Just one more question, does the Bronco II diorama have any writing stamped on the underside? The UH ones would have, for example, "UH-2250-04" or similar stamped underneath.
"I have the Ford Bronco 11 and can confirm it is in the normal size case.Personally,I think it is rather a nice little model."
Very interesting. I wonder if Ixo bought or is using any of UH's unused moulds (the two companies HAVE shared moulds in the past, especially with regard to French model cars...I wonder if Fabbri isn't listening to us regarding the poor quality of the Ixo dioramas). However, the car is confirmed Ixo by the very method in which it attaches to the base (as well as the Toy Fair display, where it was marked Ixo); the (painfully) visible black plastic stand. UH ONLY attaches its vehicles to their display plinths via the square peg/square hole. But could it be that UH's never-made prototypes are now being shared with Ixo due to the latter's lackluster dioramas? I for one believe it a possibility, at least.
I have checked but there does not appear to be any type of serial number anywhere. The bronco is held down by a plastic
bracket and Philips screw. On the underside it just says"Ford Bronco11"-"Quantum of Solace"&"Made in China."
There is no figure in the vehicle and is covered in dust/mud finish.
Also,as with the last few models I have, the 007 sticker on top of the case is missing and the cases are held together
with sticky tabs and not the usual sellotape. Are all these clues to the maker for you?
I know some of you are still waiting for issues 102&103 to arrive.Fortunately,I have mine through a newsagent and seem to get them in reasonable time.If its any consolation, both the Bondola& Bronco are nice models and worth the wait.
"The bronco is held down by a plastic bracket and Philips screw."
The plastic bracket (display stand) is Ixo. Every Ixo car has one. The Phillips screw is another sign that points to Ixo; they've been going out of their way on their newer models to replaced the TP3 screws with regular, Phillips screws so as to make removal of the model easier. UH still is making models with the TP3, to the best of my knowledge.
"Also,as with the last few models I have, the 007 sticker on top of the case is missing and the cases are held together
with sticky tabs and not the usual sellotape. Are all these clues to the maker for you?"
Yes, thanks very much! The sticky tabs, as you call them, are an Ixo signature and found on literally all Ixo-made models with a perspex display case. I'm not sure if the lack of the 007 sticker is a byproduct of Ixo, though. I wonder...has anyone purchased the LTK Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II? If so, it would logically have the sticker on top if it was a UH hallmark.
The display case does have the usual rectangular space for the 007 sticker to be placed. This may have been left off by mistake or on purpose. Are they sharing cases?
I can't say for sure whether they are sharing cases, but this Bronco case is, as Dalkowski said, definitely an Ixo one. What is interesting about it is that it is the first one from Ixo that is the same dimensions as the ones issued by Universal Hobbies (UH). All of the previous Ixo boxes (Cadillac Hearse, etc.) were much longer.
There is no figure in the vehicle and is covered in dust/mud finish.
The Bronco is seen in the film without a person in it, so I'll let them get away with it this time. It's strange how the Ford Crown Victoria is the only DC film car to feature a figure...

It looks very mutch idencital to the box of GE Fabbri's Aston Volante from TLD
With regards to mould-sharing for dioramas, I believe I tried addressing that...
"But could it be that UH's never-made prototypes are now being shared with Ixo due to the latter's lackluster dioramas? I for one believe it a possibility, at least."
As mentioned in that post, Ixo and UH HAVE shared moulds in the past. Although I REALLY doubt Ixo is using any of UH's car moulds, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they're using UH's prototype diorama moulds and just changing how the cars are attaching.

Hi CAMERA_MAN Just spoke to them, they had a problem with the issues, but they say it's sorted now & they should be arriving near the end of next week..I also mentioned the elusive" Anglia "!! & they said it would be an automatic send out, once they had it sorted. -{ :007)

Hi Dokk, We must has had the same idea. We must have spoke to them back to back and what I was told agrees with what you were told.

Thanks Dokk & Camera_Man! I'm in same position as other subscribers, I have had GE Fabbri take the payment from my bank account back in Feb but I have not yet received #102 + #103, I thought they'd be here any day now. So 'near the end of next week' presumably means 24th/25th March (about one month late, then).
Good news re Anglia replacement, it's still sounding likely despite delays / manufacturer problems. I phoned them last year and heard the same story from them then ... I think it was 'sometime in the New Year'!
Cheers,

It's a shame that the collection is nearing the end!!..considering the positive upbeat activity of this forum,I hope the forum can continue, but with no new cars after 110, what will we talk about?????...maybe they will do a Bond Character Collection..That would be cool...-{ :007)
"but with no new cars after 110, what will we talk about?????"
How to make your own, replete with modifications! Also, Code 3's for existing cars that are problematic. I've been fully preparing for this for quite a while.
"they had a problem with the issues"
Oh yes, this is DEFINITELY an Ixo hallmark. Across the pond, I asked my good friend who deals in Ixo's Ist Models line to ask them what was holding up the cars that were expected to come out in November 2010...and still have not been released. "We're having some delays releasing the product."
"they said it would be an automatic send out, once they had it sorted."
Again, I'm forced to wonder if they asked Ixo to re-do the car. That would explain a LOT of the problems.
