Here is something else that you can occasionally find on eBay. It's a 1:87 scale collection of the three Brosnan Bond BMWs (apart from the motorcycle), made by Herpa, one of the best 1:87 model makers, and available from BMW dealers in about 1999 - 2000. They are all very well detailed.
I like these models very much. The BMW Z8 and the Z3 were also available in single form in 1:87. From the Z3 there are even 3 different ones. And then there are the bigger scale "Dealer edition" like the BMW Z8 in 1:43 and 1:18 and even in 1:12. There is also the Z3 in 1:18. And then we have the BMW 750iL in 1:24 and the motorcycle in 1:18, all Dealer edition.
I like them so much that I made an effort to collect them all. The Z8 in 1:12 is quit an expensive model, so I deceided to leave that for now, maybe later. But they are a nice collection together.
Some interesting dialogue here, which is great as the board is humming between releases!
Re: Code 3 / modifying a model; I am not the world's most talented modeller, but I occasionally will try and improve a model. In this series there is only one model that I have been motivated to modify, and that's because a) it's one of my favourite cars and b) it was an easy job. The car is the BMW 750il E38 from Tomorrow Never Dies.
The lights and grille can easily be improved. The rear lights are in the wrong colours and pattern entirely. The grille fits badly and has vague chrome. The front indicators are too pale.
If you open the car up from underneath, you can pop all these parts out from the inside - carefully of course. Then modelling paint does the rest. The grille looks better if you paint the whole thing matte black and when it's dry add the silver/chrome surround. Here is my subtly modified model:
Very nice job! Another modification I know you can make to that specific car taking the car back to stock configuration. You can do that by putting the rocket launcher back into the roof, replacing the windshield (cut thin, pliable, and clear plastic to fit), rear window (same thing), cutting down the BMW logo and then reattaching it, and moving the rear bumper inward. You could also just put the rocket launcher back in, since didn't that retract back into the roof just as soon as Bond fired all of his rockets?
EDIT: Another car that frankly belongs in this collection but isn't is a stock Aston Martin DB5; i.e. no gadgets shown. I would think the easiest of these to Code 3 would be the first issue; all you need to do is just trim back the cutter and reglue it to the wheel.
EDIT AGAIN: We're also starting to see the pre-orders on eBay confirm the April 20 date of release for the Ford Galaxie Country Squire.
Hi all
it is great to see photos of some great collections
these car collections can take up a lot of space, mine has all been packed away so we can decorate the room so I thought I would show you what it used to look like before it all went into orriginal boxes and then into 13+ large boxes all are james bond models or related to bond films. The next display should look great when to room is finished
also I would like to thank my understanding wife
and see more photos of more colections
Some great stuff there!!! Sorry about it being packed away...that's how I felt when my collection got boxed up during my move from NY to IN. By the way, I see you have a black Rextoys 1940 Packard Super Eight on your Bond display. I don't recall that appearing in a Bond film...background car in FRWL or parked at the airport in Jamaica in DN? I have two of these; one of which I'm in the process of modifying into Stalin's personal Packard (hood ornament broke off, so I'm putting a ZIS-110-type hood ornament there...currently carving one out of balsa wood). To my knowledge, nobody's ever modelled that car, though his ZIS-115 (armored ZIS-110) was made in limited release by Spark Models. Unfortunately, I can't find it.
Well spotted! That is exactly correct. I brought the packard thinking it was similar to the hearse in Doctor No at a toy fair got it home and compared it with the film and realised it isnt the same but kept it anyway.
98 + 99 have just arrived. Unbroken for a change! No letter yet about single dispatches so I gather eastcoast Aus will catch up to UK then start to get single issues.

I got mine yesterday too, and like yours they appear to be unbroken - though I have not unpacked the blisters yet. I think we may not get the the single issue stage at all if we simply catch up to the UK. We will probably just experience delays and less regular deliveries.

Nice collection to see. must be a pain to dust though what with having a good deal out of the cases....
I do like the winged amc matador. Did you buy it like that, or is it one you have done yourself? I know there was someone in argentina selling one a while ago
Just got back from the newsagents, the Ford did'nt appear to be in today.May check tomorrow or Saturday.I think it will probably be next week ,seeing as its coming up to Easter Breaktime in the UK. Just a guess!
I'm not a gambling man, but knowing from past models,I think we know what expect by now.
I personally wouldn't be suprised if it came after christmas... 8-)
Ok ,now without the lame jokes: i got noticed a reply recently from a fellow collector, stating that we'd also get the last models with delays and less often in the Netherlands. Now, I personally think that's a load of bull, as the delays are most likely because of the molding done be IXO, and I can't imagine GE Fabbri "planning" the same delay for us just because the other countries had them. What's your thought on this? It might come in handy to note that we've also had delays at issue ten, stating due to the immense succes the'dd be shipping 2 every 6 weeks instead of 4, while you'd reckon they would have enough at hand, because the cars etc. had already been made...
I can't tell you anything about the numbers, but over here the've just expanded the collection due to the "great succes", I bet it 'll be a bít more than 20 people.. They stopped in france, but are stil going in australia (?, greece, germany, netherlands and Belgium, so i think it's pretty big money going on
[EDIT] I was thinking: The people in belgium, living in a 2-language- country. What are they going to do with their french subscribers? Would they really translate all the numbers 85 - 110 just for those who speak french in Belguim? [/EDIT]
Has anybody got any Idea, how many models are produced for each issue of JBCC?And how many people are still buying the publication worldwide?
AS far as I know, there is only one model per each JBCC issue. And yes, the collection is still going in Australia - just about to hit the 100th mark! I'm not really bothered by any further delays (so far we have not had any in Oz) as there is not much more to look forward to expect the widing up of the whole series.
yep, yet ANOTHER delay with 105.......no deliveries anywhere on the scheduled date ( 20th)........they were promised today ( thurs 21st) but still nothing........it strongly looks like the release will be wed27th now.........but dont hold your breath!!!.......seems like back numbers are a problem also>>>>>possibly due to the new issue in other countries........come on Fabbri......keep your loyal customers informed!!!.........
Has anybody got any Idea, how many models are produced for each issue of JBCC?And how many people are still buying the publication worldwide?
I doubt that anyone outside of GE Fabbri knows that answer, but it is something that I myself have wondered about. I posed this question to GE Fabbri in the earlier days of this collection, but they did not respond to it.
As a result of this curiosity I have always kept an eye open for information that might reveal the answer and, although the exact amounts remain unknown, from what I have read about partwork production quantities (incl. figures revealed by Atlas Editions for one of their popular diecast partworks) I am going to make some estimates:
For the cheap launch issue I estimate that GE Fabbri would have made in the region of 100,000 pieces of that model.
Issue 2 would have been about two-thirds of that quantity, with production falling to around half of the launch quantity by Issue 10, and then decreasing at growing rate over time.
By now (Issue 100 onwards) production levels could be down to as low as 5,000 pieces (or 5% of the launch quantity) for each issue.
I am sure others will have their own opinions regarding this, but that's my take on the answer
Here are the eBay pics of the Squire - I'm a bit surprised it appears to be in a smaller type box with a decent diorama base, just like earlier issues (!) It's looking really good though, another one I'll definitely be ordering
Wow! I am genuinely amazed that I could be so exited about a station wagon
It looks véry good, and although it is quite early, this might axtually get the "spot on" label
All right! A VERY NICE model of Granddad's old '64 Galaxie Country Squire! Also, have a VERY close look at the final pic in MovieCarFan's post: someone's hand is on the steering wheel. Ixo actually gave us figures! There also appears to be as many as two passengers in the rear, although it's difficult to tell due to the flash. The one Bond Movie detail it's missing, which should be easy to create as a decal, is the "Auric Stud Farms" logo above the rear passenger door. For me, that's actually quite welcome, though: all I have to do is strip out the figures, give it MI license plates, and install a combo long gun and fishing rod rack just above the passenger side rear wheel well and it's Granddad's (well, save for the wheels, but I can overlook that).
EDIT: Here's a perfect side-on picture of the '64 Galaxie Country Squire from Ford's own advertising. Aside from the door handles and JUST a tad too much vinyl siding right near the leading edge bordering on the front wheels, they really did seem to "nail it" in terms of the model.

I reckon you are about spot-on there. If you trawl Ebay!..more & more collections are coming up for sale.therefore more people are cancelling their subs.... -{ :007)
I have just collected the Ford from the newagents, here are some details about the car:
1.There are no figures in the model.
2.There is a Auric StudFarms on each front passenger doors.
3.The wood panelling appears to be a Transfer to me.
4.Ford Consul is model 106.
5.Its in the standard size case.
Its a nice car, but my model appears to be a little poorly finished off around the wheels /tyres. So I might see if its better on the otherside and turn it around.Hope thats enough info for you all.Happy Easter.

Thanks for the info! I guess I'll have to remove the "Auric Stud Farms" logo (which is indeed on the front doors in the film...I checked imcdb), then, though don't have to rip any figures out. You can have good panelling from a transfer, incidentally. See Trax Models' 1962 Ford XL Falcon Squire wagon. Also looking forward to the Consul! I wonder why that model...where we know moulds exist...was delayed so long.
As for the wheels/tires, that's always been Ixo's one weakness with partworks. You tend to see "plastic fraying" on the tires from time to time. Anyone who has collected USSR AvtoLegende or Kultowe Auta PRL-u/Kultovni Auta CSSR/Retroautok A Keletti Blokkbol will likely agree (although they said they would address that for Masini de Legenda in Romania, plus I've never had a problem with it in the Atlas DDR partworks).

Maybe you should thank her in person. I doubt if she visits this forum.

My guess is we should be seeing it tomorrow. If not then, then within the next two to three days.
"Anybody got any news/rumours about the Anglia yet?"
I don't think anyone has. I'd imagine if they re-do it and Ixo does the car and diorama, then it will come after Issue 110.

It's just an Ixo delay that applies to every country. But really, how many of us are actually surprised?
