Leiter in 22?

I don't know about anyone else, but I really enjoyed Jeffrey Wright as our old buddy from the CIA and was a little dissapointed in the fact that Leiter had very little screen time in comparison to his appearance in the novel.

I find it almost necessary for Leiter to return for Bond 22. This would be a perfect time to develop the character and his friendship with Bond. It would also make sense for the CIA to be after the organization behind Le Chiffre along with MI6.

Your thoughts...

I think they cast someone a little too famous for a ten minute cameo. Id be a little suprised if Wright's Leiter doesnt serve alongside Craig.

I would love to see Leiter in more of a supporting role in future films. Bring it on!!

Well It makes sense to bring Jeffrey Wright back as Flelix, maybe now we can have a regular Felix Actor insetead of a new one for each film.

I would like to have seen more of Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter in Casino Royale. He had little to do, apart from the scene where he prevents Bond from attacking Le Chiffre with the knife.

Hopefully, he will be a regular presence during DC's tenure as Bond and will have a more expanded role.

I liked Wright...he doesn't look smooth, but he was, a great contrast to Bond. Watching CR now I wonder exactly what a scene of his proposal to Le Chiffre would have looked like. We are just told that it took place. Not that it's really necessary, it might have slowed things up, but I do wonder.

Personally I would love nothing better that Wright playing Leiter in Bond 22, and he defenitly should have a bigger part, at first I wasn;t sure about him but his astonishingly short part in Casno Royale somehoe made me want see him back again, perhaps that was where the makers wanted to go with it, to see if we wanted him to come back or not...?

I liked him. I think Wright should continue to play Leiter instead of having a trillion different actors play him.

Leiter, to me, seems to be level heded and grounded in CR, just there when Bond is about to do something rash. Perfect.

I agree. I'm hoping for much more of Wright's Felix in #22...and hopefully beyond. IMO, the character has rarely been used properly on the big screen; CR was a step (albeit a small one) in the right direction.

I still maintain we saw so little of Leiter and Wright that one can't really judge. Leiter was more visible in DN, TB, LALD and LTK to name a few. For the cinematic Bond, Leiter is a minor character and should probably stay that way.

If he isn't in Bond 22 I'll eat my shark...

(unless it disagrees with me) :)

I agree. That said, it would be nice were he an important minor character in the next Bond picture, although not to the extent that it becomes more of a 'partner movie'. Hopefully Moneypenny and Q won't be returning, so that should free up time again to focus on other, more interesting, secondary cinematic characters.

The Bond books weren't 'partner' adventures; Leiter was obviously secondary to Bond in every possible respect. I don't see that changing on film, even if Leiter's participation equals that of what was written by Fleming.

Ironically, the only film which I feel used Leiter properly was the constantly-maligned NSNA...

A minor character compared to Bond? Absolutely...however, has Bond has so few genuine friends, I doubt 007 would agree about his 'minor' status. Jeffrey Wright is a fine actor; based upon what he's done in the past (aside from his five minutes onscreen in CR), I've every confidence he can deliver a compelling expanded role in #22...

Leiter is always part of the 'investigation' phase of Bond's adventures, and is almost never there for the fireworks (aside from NSNA). I would expect this would hold true for #22 as well.

Im not a big fan of NSNA - in fact, I find it slightly less good than Condorman. However, the Leiter in NSNA was perfect. I would say, one of the better portrayals.

I don't know... I want to see FELIX LEITER... not Geoffrey the Butler (from Fresh Prince) as Leiter. I don't know why everyone's raving about "Felix" in CR... I found him bland.

Too bad Rik VanNutter is too old to play Felix these days...
