Wow! I'm shocked at how brilliant this film is.
I was supposed to watch TND, TWINE and Die another Day (sorry, I just felt silly typing dad) before watching this one but it came in the mail from Netflix today so I watched it.
For the first 45 minutes I wasn't sold on Daniel Craig but now I'm a fan. The action in the film was the best of the series. Of course, this is to be expected since most all films now are technically better than old ones. I guess what I'm saying is that filmmaking has improved so therefore this film is better any MANY ways than its predecessors. I enjoyed the plot but could make an argument that some of the older films had better plots.
I'll stick with Connery as the best Bond but Daniel Craig really comes close.
Vesper Lynd was pretty hot in the movie. Not quite at the Jill St. John level but she was great nonetheless.
I thought the villains were good in the film. Not the best of the series but nowhere near the worst.
One of my favorite parts was when he was poisoned at the poker table. That was one tense scene. And the line when he got back really made it...."That last hand almost killed me." Connery must be proud.
The film did a great job of giving some background to Bond. I'm really glad they included that in the film. The PTS were kinda weak but the rest of the film more than made up for it.
Did everyone else love this film as much as me???:D
I'm gonna watch it again before I send it back.
I am loving the reinventions that Bond and Batman have been given in the last few years.

To your last point, eh... no.
Truth be told, as pretty much everyone now knows, I loathe this movie with a slightly less fiery passion than I hate TB, LTK and possibly DAD (those two are now battling for a higher spot on my list).
To me, Vesper was also overrated, and she looks like a vampire, no offense to anyone, but she is one scary and weird lookin' lady.
Villains of this film were boring. None of them were good. Any. When I saw the developing list of the cast, I saw many henchmen, and I thought, wow, a big crew of henchmen may be interesting, especially if a lady's involved, but no, none of them barely ever utter a word, and if they did it wasn't memorable. Le Chiffre looked ****ed the whole time and it was the only thing he was good at. Boring, boring, boring.
Well, considering Craig wasn't doing anything for me anyway, and while it had tense scene potential, I knew he'd get out of it and I wouldn't care. It's all depending on the actor I suppose, because if Pierce or Roger were in the same situation, I would be freaking out! Dalton in the same scene may have me rooting for the bad guy . I don't care who you are but the masters of the puns and brush-off lines and Connery and Moore, and nobody can do it better than them, I could name a million and more memorable quotes they said than that.
Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm shooting you down (people tend to think that I do that), but I reeeeeeeeally don't like this movie. However, if it's your cup of tea, then by all means drink it.
And I'd also like to say this--JFF, there are two things I hope to never encounter again, and they are (1) your opinion of AVTAK, and (2) your opinion of CR. We all know them, and I would imagine most people are sick of seeing them repeated ad nauseam. There are 19 other films to talk about.
Topic closed--only because it's redundant.
