i think that silencer looks fine on the PPS, i would like if Bond used the PPS becuase its more compact, though i cant choose between the P99 and that but we'll see what happens
I think the PPS, being smaller is more appropriate for Bond, but would not be disappointed if he hung on to the older P99.
I just noticed in CR'06, the scene when Bond is injected with the "tracker" he is wearing the P99 in the Vega holster, if oo7's shirt had been pulled down it would have been un-noticable.
DC managed to pull off alot of things better than PB!!!!
All indications are that Bond 22 IS something to look forward to!
No matter P99 (Laser etched, pre-2004 of course!) or PPS - nwith the return of, Mathis, Mr. White, Vesper and maybe even the same Leiter? Old SC said it best ..."I must be dreaming!"
Finally got to the point where I accepted oo7 being armed with a P99 - an excellent up-to-date handgun. It wasn't a Fleming choice, but is more appropriate for 2008, than the PPK - which is a discontinued item.
The video is just from the mi6.co.uk video diary two http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/articles/bond_22_video2.php3?t=qos&s=qos
Though fuzzy that's the only shot i've seen of a craig pistol in qos so far. Looks like everyone believes it to be the ppk -- I remember hearing a rumour a while ago that a dozen of them had been delivered to pinewood, but i also heard that before cr came out. Doesn't make too much sense that in the reboot he had a hip-concealed p99 only to switch to a smaller calliber, or does it? I heard the studio rejected the pps as too ugly, but still must have wanted to go smaller in the new film.
In CR he came from Special Forces where they usually carry larger sidearms. Now that he becomes more and more a secret agent it may make sence to go for a more consealable gun. It makes sense, just like his hair changes into something less military.

Rubber stunt PPK's were present during filming at the Barbican in London a few weeks back. This is confirmed.

I think this is really cool. Bond back with a PPK... I love it. Will he get the P99, too? Use both at different times?
Bond was supposedly using the PPK in the flashback portion of the pre-title sequence. If the producers would be so kind as to include the additional filmed scenes at the cricket match on a more "extra-heavy" DVD we might get to see that Bond interchanges Walthers to suit his needs. As Sam says in "Ronin", "It's a toolbox. You put in the tools you need."

It's very annoying if he reverts back to the PPK entirely. I wish they'd go for reality, which is what the new Bond is about, and choose the P99, and P99c for concealment. Or even better the PPS.
It took me a while getting use to the loss of the PPK, and with Brosnan the P99 was ridiculous. Now that Criag has shown that he can carry off the P99, I got used to the idea. Him carrying the PPK after Walther have discontinued it is weird, especially as there is no sentimental attachment with the rebooted Bond.
Yea i can see where your coming from Asp9mm, becuase he did use it in the Pre-title sequence from what we gathered, but throughout CR he used the P99 very effectively and i dont see why he would all of a sudden change to the smaller, older PPK. not that i dont like the idea, i think its awesome but if that means the P99 is out then it didnt have that long of a tenure and it fit well with the more realistic film and Craig's bulkier frame.
Could be that the P99 was used in CR'06 just because it was used in DAD, and no thought went into the matter.
That's what I mean 7289. There WAS plenty of thought put into his weapon of choice and at one time they were going with the PPK, even to the point of buying them in. The only reason they went with the older P99 model and not the newer AS was the accuracy of the PAK version to the pre 2004's. The converted live P99's are notorious for jamming. The thooght that went into the silencer design was extensive too compared to the other films, as they used stock PAK silencers and the CR version was built from scratch around the CO2 design.
Walther wanted Eon to use the PPS for QOS, but they claimed it was too small and ugly. This is why I can't understand the PPK move.
Has anyone confirmed that he ONLY uses the PPK. Maybe he just picks one up. I just want to reign things in a bit because I have a pet peeve about conjecture being confused with fact as soon as it hits the internet. Can someone recap, what do we really know about what Bond is using?
ASP9mm, you know Walther wanted the PPS for QoS, but that was shot down (intentional pun). Was there a follow up on that statement as to what was chosen? Because all I've heard about the PPK is that some PPK stunt guns were used in at least one scene. And, of course, I've seen a fuzzy freeze-frame of Bond using a pistol that may be smaller than a P99 but may not even be his. My head is already spinning.

The only info that we have that is 100% -
FACT: Rubber stunt PPK's were present for the Barbican shoot.
Nothing else is confirmed, although I'm 95% sure that the pistol seen in Craigs hands during the footage available so far is a PPK. Whether it is Bonds acquired from someone else, Bonds personal arm, Bonds issued arm etc, etc, is purely conjecture.
I stand corrected wih respect to my comments regarding the "laid back" attiude of the producers towards Bond's sidearm. Given all the "boners" they have pulled in the past with Bond firearms, I have always figured that Bond's pistol was of marginal interest in the overall scheme of the Bond pantheon.
That said I am in 100% agreement with ASP9mm, that falling back on the PPK, especially after the great way the P99 was employed in CR'06 is baffling - and from a "real world" prespective rather dumb.
In 2008 the PPK makes as much since as the .25 Beretta did in 1956 - it's nowhere near a "state of the art" handgun. The P99 is "state of the art" and vastly under-rated - making it a perfect Bond gun - more so now than when PB picked his up in TND.
While it is totally useless to speculate - that's half the fun of this site! Speculation, opinion and a hearty dose of "what if's" .....
So i'll speculate that if what we have seen is any indication, Bond is back with the PPK - and most likely the P99 will not make an appearance.
In the end, dispite our consternation .... I'm willing to bet ASP9mm and 7289 walk out of the QOS premiere with a smile on our faces!
I would have to agree that using the PPK for the sake of nostalgia in QOS would be a huge mistake. It is a beautiful gun, no doubt about it, but not one that any operative this day and age would bet their life on. The P99 is a fine choice for Bond in a situation where concealment is not paramount. It is very disappointing that the producers are overlooking the PPS. It would be an excellent second weapon for Bond when carrying a full-size handgun is out of the question. Looks should not be a huge issue as most modern autos share a very similar ugly shape anyway. Fleming was very careful to select different weapons for his 1950-60’s Bond depending on the mission. He had his Beretta/Walther for concealment work, but then he often used a S&W or Colt revolver, .45 Colt and even sniper rifle from time to time. CR did a fine job as we saw Bond pick up and use weapons in the field such as the High Power in Madagascar and the UMP he confiscated in Italy. I remain hopeful that like Apocrypha23 said this may be a weapon he picks up.
In another thread some people were discussing the reintroduction of Q into the franchise. I would like to see a new, very serious Q appear in a future film, but credited only as Major Boothroyd to arm Bond with a PPS!

I thought that the notion of Bond coming from the military and slowly refining his haircut and his pistol was a clever observation.

The PPS is a fine pistol, it's not as pretty as a PPK, but it's from a different era altogether - and is a handsome gun - once you get used to it!

What I can confirm at the moment is that there are stunt and live PPK's present during filming along with a black IWB holster.
