Do you want to wake up at three in the morning and have these guys standing over your bed?
I didn't think so...
Don't think for one moment that we can't get to you because you're down in Australia...just ask Paul Hogan didn't he regret it.
I like you, Dan - honestly I do but you think long and hard about the next thing you say about Batman. Conform. Now. X-(
You're welcome.
Absolutely, I promise to conform. Just don't take me. Please! )
In all seriousness, I love Batman. I don't love him as much as you do (I don't think anybody does ) ) but I really adore him. I was a big fan of the TV show, I loved the first Burton film as well as Batman Forever, I consider Batman Begins to be one of the best comic book films ever made (which is saying alot ), I can not wait to see The Dark Knight and I think that Batman is one of the greatest characters ever created. {[] In conclusion, you will never see me attacking the character (unless of course I'm having a go at you. :v)
BTW, what do you mean about Paul Hogan not regretting it?
"He’s a man way out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine. And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
BTW, what do you mean about Paul Hogan not regretting it?
RogueAgent's rabid and fearful love of all things Bat is well documented.
Do you really think Paul Hogan's international career could have imploded so badly, so quickly, all by itself? And don't think he was the first one. Erik Estrada once called Batman a transvestite. Big mistake. One day, he's a big Hollywood star. The next, he's doing soap operas in Mexico. Britney Spears said she wanted to sing the theme song to Batman: The Dark Knight. Look at her now. George Clooney mentions he might want to do another Batman movie. 24 hours later, his motorcycle crashes and he's in the hospital with broken ribs. Fearful that Iron Man might do better at the box office than TDK, he even threatened to "teach Robert Downey Jr. some manners"; luckily I was able to calm him down.*
Trust me on this one Dan, when it comes to Batman, RogueAgent is not a man you want to cross.

) I believe you. I had no idea Rogue was so powerful. However, I'm still confused. I understand why tragedy befell upon everyone else, but what exactly did Hogan do to ensure Rogue's wrath? Or does Rogue just not like him very much? :v

And if that wasn't convincing enough for you, Dan...remember this guy?
Back in the 80s this Aussie made a fortune off of battery commercials. One day he's drinking at a pub in Sydney and flips off a guy wearing a Bat signal tee; you know what happened next?
No more battery commercials X-(.

An interesting read for those of us who enjoyed the score to Batman Begins.
I can't wait to listen to the new score and I'd really like to catch him perform his film music live. It'll be a great experience. If someone finds more details about his tour, please post it here or PM me. I'd hate to miss it.
Still no new trailer, but here are three new images from TDK; don't know how long they'll last before they're yanked so check them out ASAP. That last one is just plain disturbing but also Joker-esque.

Actually, I'm more disturbed by the first one--the mutilated Batman mannequin. Also, it seems as though even disguised as the policeman the Joker's skin is unnaturally pale. . .maybe his look isn't entirely makeup and scars?
As these new photos tend to get removed, here's another link with them. Got to admit, love that Joker! And if you watch closely, perhaps there's a pretty big spoiler with that patient in the bed behind the "nurse."
Was there a big reveal with the latest April Fool's viral site thing? I would have expected something big, but we saw nothing new.

To the best of me knowledge, nothing happened. Maybe it was their idea of an April Fool's joke.

Man, one thing I love from DC is that they never stop making the animated features regardless of how they're received. B-)
This animation is sort of Darwyn Cooke-ish wouldn't you say? That's as good as Bruce Timm to me so we'll see...

Cartoon Network has announced Batman: The Brave and The Bold, a new animated series slated to debut in 2008.
The series will be set in a new continuity. Here's how the show is described:
"Batman isn't going at it alone this time! From Warner Bros. Animation comes the latest interpretation of the classic Batman franchise. Our caped crusader is teamed up with heroes from across the DC Universe, delivering nonstop action and adventure with a touch of comic relief. Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Aquaman and countless others will get a chance to uphold justice alongside Batman. Though still based in Gotham, Batman will frequently find himself outside city limits, facing situations that are both unfamiliar and exhilarating. With formidable foes around every corner, Batman will still rely on his stealth, resourcefulness and limitless supply of cool gadgets to bring justice home."
The series, consisting of 30-minute episodes, will be produced by James Tucker and Linda M. Steiner -- the team behind Legion of Super Heroes -- and will be executive produced by Sam Register.
Other creators include line producer Amy McKenna, story editor Michael Jelenic and directors Ben Jones, Brandon Vietti and Michael Chang.
My question is, When are Warner/DC going to trust their other superhero creations in animated series of their own without Superman or Batman hanging around? ?:)

) ) Yeah, Spec, he'll make sure not to miss that ep!
You're closest to him, Spec...has he any orange chainmail hidden in his closet? Y'know...maybe putting it on secretly when the family's not at home?
No Rogue. There is no orange chain mail in my closet. Or green trousers. Or a trident. You seem to have an unhealty fascination with role playing. First you ask if I have any Jedi robes and now this. And let's not forget your codpiece and cowl fetish.
But I am very fond of fish...I eat it all the time as I'm sure it causes Aquaman severe anguish when I have one of his loyal subjects served up broiled, with a lemon and butter sauce. :v
As to Brave and the Bold, definitely a Darwyn Cooke slant to the art, with a slightly more modern, stylized sensibility. My only concern is that the team from Legion of Superheros is heading up the project as that wasn't the strongest DC comics adaptation.
And I don't think WB has the cajones or imagination to release a standalone series without Batman or Superman participating in some capacity. The closest we ever came to that was Justice League Unlimited and even there, Bats or Supes were never too far away from the action.
Forgive me from slightly deviating from the subject at hand, but speaking of chain mail, the king of chain mail, Bennett, will be arriving on Blue Ray on April 15th. Time to let off some steam with Commando in high def - we'll be able to make out every link in Bennett's vest )

That's a concern of mine too. I mean Legion has to be one of the biggest disappointments for me since I grew up loving the comic book so much.
I mean instead of doing the right thing by putting Mon-El in the series, they decided to make a duplicate Superman. I stopped watching then and there... 8-)
At least we won't have the Asian influenced art in this as it seems cartoons have subscribed to doing lately. Other than Star Blazers and Voltron, I just can't take alot of that look in.

Here's where Warner is missing out on just to name a few:
Green Lantern Corps. The beauty of this project, there's more than one of them; make Hal the initial character and build stories around that universe.
The Flash: Look at Flash's rogue's gallery and tell me that that wouldn't make a great Saturday morning cartoon...
Martian Manhunter: With the right team behind this, it could rival the 90s Timmverse. A superhero and a P.I.? Think of the possibilities.
I mean I'm all for more Bats episodes but the neglect of others is just too glaring.

As you might imagine; I'd love to see a Green Lantern Corps. show. But as I said, I just don't think WB understands its own product enough. I really get the feeling that they still don't understand why these comics shows and movies are so popular and are probably convinced that the fad will die out any day now. Just look at what a hard time they've had making decent Superman and Batman movies. I guess that's what happens when you're a gigantic comglomerate only concerned with making money for your shareholders; creativity and imagination are the first things to get tossed out the window.
It's really too bad DC isn't an independent company anymore. Marvel's independence, combined with some saavy business decisions and marketing have turned it into a powerhouse corporation and that's why so many Marvel movies have turned out as good as they have. I don't think DC will ever have the same level of success as long as they're a subsidiary of a bottom line obssessed conglomerate like Time Warner.
For anyone thinking about buying a BluRay hi-def DVD player, here's a little more incentive: WB has just released some more info on their BluRay version of Batman Begins, which will be released on July 8.
The movie will come in two editions: a standard edition containing the film (complete with picture in picture clips), assorted documentaries, and the 6 minute prologue to The Dark Knight. There's also a deluxe edition which will include a lenticular motion card, a mini-comic, several mini-postcards and some other goodies.
Frankly the special edition doesn't sound all that special but the standard edition will probably be a day one purchase for me; it carries a suggested list price of $28.95, which means that outlets like Amazon.com and Best Buy will probably be selling it for under $20.
I just read on a couple of different sites that there's a scene in TDK that so disturbed preview audiences that it may be cut from the final film. In it,
The Joker climbs into a body bag and pretends to be dead. People were allegedly upset because, of course, Heath Ledger himself is now dead and the image is creepier than intended.
Personally, I think audiences should be able to separate fantasy from reality, but in these politically correct times you never know.
I read a good quote from David Cronenberg that basically says "reviewers tend to do what only psychotics do, they confuse fantasy with reality"
Add to that family/morality groups. 8-)

Sort of makes ammends for having the suspect Anime style. If you haven't seen it yet, here it is:
Diedrich Bader(of The Drew Carey Show) will be providing the voice for Batman in the Cartoon Network's upcoming Brave and the Bold series according to TV Guide. In this new program,Batman will team up with a different DC Comics hero per episode.

Yes.Here's the article(from TV Guide,April 21-27,2008,page 13).
The Softer Side of Batman
Cartoon Network's fall series Batman:The Brave and the Bold will explore the Caped Crusaer's lighter side.In each episode,Batman teams up with a different partner-including Green Arrow,Plastic Man and Aquaman."With each hero,Batman has a different reaction,"producer James Tucker says."It's designed to bring out a personality in him besides the cold avenging fearsome Dark Knight. Our Batman has hope."
I think this has the potential to be a good show-- depending on the quality of it's stories.
I remember when DC Comics converted their anthology series The Brave and the Bold into a Batman teamup book, and as mentioned in this article, the Caped Crusader did indeed act differently with each of his disparate partners. And in those stories he sometimes smiled-based upon the situation at hand.Frankly,I'm not going to write this this program off before having first seen a few episodes.Who knows-perhaps they'll even adapt some of the many stories Bob Haney and Mike W.Barr wrote for the B&B comic book.
The production company's official illustration depicts a two-fisted Batman who looks very much like a cross between Jim Aparo's moody B&B Batman and Dick Sprang's classic version.Overall it's similar in appearance to the Batman of those great animated shows Bruce Timm designed and produced years ago.
As for Diedrich Bader--He has a suitably deep speaking voice, and for this program he'll be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman-not Drew Carey's dense buddy Oswald.I've seen Bader play dramatic roles and he's pretty good(IMO).
According to SHH, Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the new trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight at the New York Comic-Con on Saturday. The trailer is expected to hit theaters in a couple of weeks, presumably with Iron Man, but the viral campaign might allows fans to see it earlier than that online.
