Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be brilliant, but I do think it is unlikely that they would recast the role so soon after Ledger's death.

Get up, Dan...and drive your funky soul! Spider-Man 3 is no longer the top comic book grossing movie of all time thanks to worldwide numbers just posted on Box Office Mojo. The Batman has unseated you. as I thought it would. Your boy is now literally "No. 2" and not just in the numerical sense either.
'Dark Knight' swings past $500 million mark
By DAVID GERMAIN – 2 hours ago
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Batman's rich alter-ego Bruce Wayne has added half a billion dollars to his riches. "The Dark Knight" on Sunday became the second movie in Hollywood history to top $500 million at the domestic box office, raising its total to $502.4 million, according to estimates from distributor Warner Bros.
The film hit that mark in just over six weeks, half the time it took "Titanic," which reached $500 million in a little more than three months. "Titanic," the biggest modern blockbuster, remains No. 1 on the domestic charts with $600.8 million.
Despite its brisk pace, "The Dark Knight" is not expected to approach the total for "Titanic," which put up smaller numbers week after week but lingered at the top of the box office for months.
Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros., said he expects "The Dark Knight" to finish at about $530 million, though it could reach $550 million if business persists as strongly as it has.
"I keep raising the number because it just keeps holding better than expected," Fellman said.
"The Dark Knight" will climb to about $505 million by Labor Day, the conclusion of Hollywood's busy summer season. That amounts to nearly one-eighth of Hollywood's overall summer revenue of $4.2 billion, which edges the previous summer record of $4.18 billion set last year, according to box-office tracker Media By Numbers.
Factoring in today's higher admission prices, "The Dark Knight" would need to take in about $900 million to match the number of tickets sold by "Titanic."
Labor Day weekend was generally sleepy at theaters, with a rush of new movies failing to find much favor with audiences. Through Sunday, Paramount's comedy "Tropic Thunder" remained No. 1 for the third straight weekend with $11.5 million.
The 20th Century Fox sci-fi thriller "Babylon A.D." with Vin Diesel debuted in second place with $9.7 million, while Overture Films' espionage drama "Traitor," starring Don Cheadle, opened at No. 5 with $7.9 million.
Premiering at No. 7 was Lionsgate's spoof flick "Disaster Movie" with $6.2 million. MGM's campus comedy "College" opened well outside the top 10 with $2.1 million.
The top 12 movies took in $75.2 million, down 23 percent from the same weekend last year, when "Halloween" opened with $26.4 million.
"This is kind of an inauspicious end to a really incredible summer," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media By Numbers. "We limped past the finish line."
I realize this might be pushing it but is it possible that this masterpiece of a film could maybe reach, get to, have the small chance of creeping over the line to...............

Yep, TDK has just gotten to $920million (Worldwide)
Leavind SM3 behind with $850million (Worldwide)
I honestly wasn't excpecting that! Even though TDK is better, Batman Begins only brought in less than half that!
I hope it does reach the billion mark. Only 3 other films have done that.
Titanic (1997)
LOTR (Early 00's)
Pirates of the Carribean 2 (2006)
But it's been at cinema's a few weeks now and is already beginning to lose people's interest

Spider-Man may have now made less money, but that's fine with me. I don't need him to have made more money than anyone else to be confident in my love of Spidey. :v

Actually it's easy. Why? Because my position is more moral than yours. I follow a superhero whose motto is 'with great power comes great responsibility.' What's Bat's motto? Or does he even have one? :v
Admitt it guys, you just can't accept that Spidey is so pure and Batman... isn't. :v )
As for me, I'm still waiting to read his rationalization of why he prefers VHS to DVD (not to mention BluRay).
Although DVD is better quality, VHS is easier to manage (in terms of fast-forwarding, rewinding and playing); and while my VCR does allow me to tape on DVD, I'm yet to utilise it as taping on VHS is incredibly easy.
On a side-note, Tony, that picture of Batman and Spider-Man, how on earth is that possible? Not only is Batman a non-superhero, but in all seriousness, how could Batman ever hope to do that to Spider-Man?

This is starting to remind me of those rabid sports fans who, when their favorite team wins, start screaming, "We're number one! We're number one!" As if they get to display a trophy in their houses or get a bonus for winning a championship or have their daily lives impacted in any but the tiniest of ways. . .
Really, and I may be sorry for asking this, but does it matter that much?

Unfortunately for many, this type of madness is a big deal, H.B. Not just on this site respectively but on many sites that I've seen. There is a seeded competition between Spider-Man, Batman & Iron Man when it comes to which is the better film on a whole. Fanboyness comes into play pretty naturally with things of this ilk.
Although I'll never see a dime of TDK's revenue regardless of my celebrations, as a HUGE Batman fan, I am very proud that it has captured the top crown for comic book movies ever. I've never hidden my fandom to anyone about Batman so to a degree ,at least for me, it does matter and it's all in fun too.
Y'know...your trophy suggestion might not be a bad idea though.

No way--Tony and Rogue have allowed the Bats-vs.-Spidey war to seep into other threads, and I've had to play the Mod card on 'em for doing so. If host the war we must, it should stay confined to this thread!

I forgot to mention that me and son went to see The Dark Knight again yesterday but this time in IMAX and what an experience it was. It really looks better in that type of format.
And, Dan, your Spider-Man buddy, my son, took some his hard earned money and bought his own copy of the graphic novel THE LONG HALLOWEEN after the show. He's read it twice already, gets it entirely and now wants to purchase the follow-up DARK VICTORY.
TDK is very addictive for him. B-)

Although DVD is better quality, VHS is easier to manage (in terms of fast-forwarding, rewinding and playing); and while my VCR does allow me to tape on DVD, I'm yet to utilise it as taping on VHS is incredibly easy.
?:) DVDs are random-access devices, in other words, you can go to any particular spot on a disc almost instantaneously. Unlike tapes, there is no rewinding or fast forwarding of the media.
Likewise, when it comes to recording with DVD's you don't have to worry about forwarding the tape past the last recorded section or whether you're accidentally recording over pre-existing material. DVD recorders handle all those tedious housekeeping chores automatically.
Once you clear yourself of a VHS mindset (and I know from firsthand experience that it can be an issue for lots of people) DVDs are incredibly more convenient.
On a side-note, Tony, that picture of Batman and Spider-Man, how on earth is that possible? Not only is Batman a non-superhero, but in all seriousness, how could Batman ever hope to do that to Spider-Man?
I viewed (and offered) the picture as a metaphor for Batman's latest triumph, not documentation of their respective powers. :v Of course, if you want me to get geeky, I suppose Batman could have some exo-skeleton under his outfit which gives him added strength; he has done that from time to time in the comics when facing off against super-powered foes.
This is starting to remind me of those rabid sports fans who, when their favorite team wins, start screaming, "We're number one! We're number one!" No HB, it really doesn't matter all that much to me. I'm happy as can be that the comics genre in general is doing well at the box office as that will hopefully translate into more, better quality comic book adaptations down the road. I love the genre as a whole (yes, even Spiderman) and if anything, I'm actually a little disappointed that Iron Man didn't come out on top as that was, for my money, the best comic book movie of the season.
As for all those never-ending Spiderman jabs, I just enjoy pushing Dan's buttons (and I'm not beneath targeting some of Dan's other favorite movies as well); but it's all in good fun and strictly for laughs; and I hope (and think) that Dan, who gives as good as he gets, knows that.
I'm 43 years old; the days of taking a movie - any movie - too seriously are hopefully behind me.

Oh, I know you guys are having fun. I guess--and I'm speaking as me and not as a mod--I'm starting to get a little bored with the constant back-and-forth, and, y'know, I'm even feeling a little left out. As someone who likes both the Bats and Spidey movies I don't really have a dog in this show. Anyway, ignore this soon-to-be-42-year-old guy who put his inner child in permanent time-out.

If you're feeling left out HB, you can always bash on Catwoman. I'll be sure to rush to Halle Berry's defense to the bitter end.
I find the best way to re-awaken your inner child is to invest in cool looking but otherwise utterly useless piece of memorabilia from your favorite movie or comic book. Perhaps a nice shiny new Spiderman or Batman statue for the mantle might do the trick.
I like it. {[] I think this has wings Tony. "I shall haunt criminals by nesting on their roofs and repeatedly going co-coo, co-coo, co-coo. I shall steal their sandwiches when they are not looking. I will be avenged!"
