Maybe The Dark Knight Joker makeup will look something like this:

    jokergrin.jpg

This is The Joker as he appears in the recent fan movie Batman:Dead End.

What was up with that movie? I mean, I know there have been Batman vs. Predator comics, but still.

Can't say I like that Joker. The caterpillar eyebrows and bulbous eyes make him look too ridiculous to me.

I thought the first three minutes were superb. I liked the Alex Ross-ish look of Batman, and, actually, I thought The Joker looked perfect. Sadly, once Alien and Predator enter the picture it's off to Silly City. Still, a well-made fanpic.

Oh--and what's all this talk of a mustache on Ledger's Joker? Granted, my eyesight is very poor, but I couldn't see anything. You guys aren't imagining Cesar Romero, are you?

I liked the look of Batman in the movie, Hardy... except for his fat, pug-like face. Needless to say that his costume would look better on Mr. Bale.

The moustache is on Ledger's Joker in Rogue's sig. I'm not a big fan of it; I think The Joker would look much better completely clean shaven.

Even if an Ollie Queen cameo was a faint possibility, AMH doesn't look dapper enough to play him. Outside of the blond hair, he doesn't look much like a rich, ladies' man.

I just don't see Nolan overdoing it like that...

That seems more probable as a set-up for the third film.

One can't expect Nolan draping The Riddler in a monotonous design of question marks though. It would be cool to see him dressed like Gorshin was in the 3-pc. suit though. ;)

Dark Knight Shooting at the London Eye?
Source: Superhero Hype! May 27, 2007

An anonymous scooper alerted Superhero Hype! that The Dark Knight might be shooting scenes in the London Eye area in London on Monday, May 28th. Christian Bale is said to be in town too, so the scenes may involve Batman.

If you have any info on this, let us know. And if you're in the area, be sure to keep an eye out!

I do.And while John Astin did a good job he couldn't even begin to match Frank Gorshin who'd really made the part his own.Maybe if Astin had played a similiar character but with another name--The Trickster, for example. He's a Superman villain, but he's not unlike The Riddler.

And considering how "real" Nolan wants to make this series of Batman films,I think The Riddler could fit right in with ease.No bodystocking--just an elegant three-piece suit, perhaps with a golden "?" on the tie clip.

    * * * *

And speaking of "realism",here are a few brief Batman movies that demonstrate(to me,anyway--and you know just how easily I'm pleased)that The Joker's classic appearance needn't undergo an extensive alteration in order to appear in a live-action motion picture and still maintain his sense of menace:

(check out the absolutely accurate 1939 Batman costume)

    Batman:The Death of The Joker

Not great "art",perhaps but impressive on their own merits--in my opinion, anyway.

I kind of like the "image" of Heath Ledger's joker, assuming that it's true. The Joker is a psychopath and a cruel, brutal murder. The appearance of the character should mirror this.

First look: Enter the Joker — in the IMAX format
    Updated 8h 39m ago

    dark-knight1x-large.jpg

    By Scott Bowles, USA TODAY
LOS ANGELES — All directors promise that their sequels will be bigger and flashier than the predecessors'. But Christopher Nolan doesn't mess around.
The director's sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, will become the first feature film to be partly shot in the IMAX format, an expensive and cumbersome process that typically is the province of documentaries and short films.

Nolan will shoot four action sequences — including the introduction of the Joker, played by Heath Ledger — on IMAX.

The move is one of Hollywood's most pronounced steps yet in its embrace of IMAX theaters, which are increasingly showing commercial fare on their giant screens.

"There's simply nothing like seeing a movie that way," Nolan says. "It's more immersive for the audience. I wish I could shoot the entire thing this way."

Typically, the feature films that play in IMAX theaters are simply stretched out to fill the enormous screens. That can dilute the picture quality and give the movie a wide, squat look.

Shooting on IMAX, Nolan says, will have a twofold effect. The four scenes will fill the IMAX screens, some of which are eight stories high. And in traditional theaters, the scenes will appear more vivid (think high-definition television over standard).

Don't expect many movies to follow suit. Only 280 IMAX theaters are in operation worldwide, and fewer than 100 show feature films.

And shooting in the format is difficult. IMAX film, which is 10 times the size of standard film stock, is costly and must be shot using bulky cameras.

And "they're loud," Nolan says. "We had to figure a way to eliminate the sound so we could shoot dialogue."

In a rarity for Hollywood, the payoff isn't primarily financial, so far. "It doesn't have a huge effect yet on the money you bring in," says Chris Aronson, a distribution chief with 20th Century Fox, which carried Night at the Museum on IMAX. "But it does help make your movie more of an event."

For Nolan, IMAX makes the moviegoing experience unique again.

"You can't do this on any home theater," Nolan says. "Batman has some of the most extraordinary characters in pop culture. We wanted the Joker to have the grandest entrance possible.

"I figured if you could take an IMAX camera to Mount Everest or outer space, you could use it in a feature movie."

I didn't expect Joker's hair to be so...green... ?:) . Especially where Nolan's concerned and his penchant for "down to earth" methods. Is that a wig? It looks very Jim Aparo 70s from that faint glimpse.

Not complainng but I was looking for something a tad more subtle from him.

Can you really tell the exact colour of The Joker's hair from that photo? It doesn't look very clear IMO.

    The other photo:

    JokerImax.jpg

Clearly, The Joker's hair is quite green.

It also looks like that photo of the scarred and dismembered face of The Joker may have been genuine, if you look at how far the red lipstick line extends up his cheek, similiar to the other photo. Personally, I'll be EXTREMELY happy if that will indeed be his real appearance, as I want my Joker to look very hideous, frightening, and cruel.

You're right, it is green (I need to check my glasses prescription ;%)! I guess I was hoping for a picture that was more clear. Nonetheless, I think it looks really good and alot better than the other picture! :D Thank goodness the picture in which The Joker looks like Michael Myers meets Marilyn Manson is almost certainly a fake. {[]

Not necessarily so, Dan. Perhaps the first pic of Ledger was experimental to get a reaction from us or fake but either way I don't think that it's far from how Nolan wants Joker to look.

Now seeing the Caesar Romero-like tint of the hair makes me feel more relaxed to where this character is going; it's not as alienating as it once was for me at first so now it comes down to Ledger's portrayal of my favorite villian.

Will he have this GQ 80s look (Had a shirt similiar to that back in the day) throughout the film or is there a chance we'll see the Colonel Sanders tie, tails and squirting flower? :D

Okay, W.G....time to give your analysis on the updated pic. Warming up at all to this yet, buddy? ;)

I'll really have to see the face, first.Of course,it's nice to see that he'll still have the green hair, but that's only a part of his look.If Ledger has a small prosthesis on his nose to slightly elongate it, along with another one to distend the jawline(nothing huge-maybe Jay Leno sized),I think that would work.I'm really not too keen on the slasher movie look, but I suspect that's what Nolan's decided on.

It's been done before and frankly,I think it's no more "real" than The Joker's long-established image--and much less frightening in my eyes, because I prefer the more ironically horrific and theatrically perverted clown appearance. Most particularly for a cold-blooded and entirely amoral killer.

I know that he tried, but Nicholson, despite the garish makeup, really didn't look so much like the character as he did Ol'Jack out on Halloween.

Y'know,Rogue, some years back, and long before Smallville made him a more immediately recognizable actor, and shortly before Burton's Batman was filmed,I thought that the young John Glover would've been a great Joker. He's an excellent actor who is especially believable as intelligent and cold-blooded killers. His long, lean face, with the high cheekbones and lantern jaw--plus the impressive voice--are what suggested him to me.

Just think:thin face, thin build...talk about your Aparo Jokers.

All he'd have needed was a slightly longer nose and chin(easily addded), plus the famous paint job and green hair.No need to slash the face open--not when the actor in question has a malevolent smile that naturally cuts across his slender features.

Of course, the best version of The Joker is--in my opinion anyway--the one in the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini animated Batman series.I think Ledger's a talented actor but he still has his work cut out for him, because Mark Hammill really set the standard for The Joker's distinctively sinister and deranged voice.

Funny you mentioned John Glover making a good Joker in his prime when in fact another Glover-Crispin, fits the mold alot better IMO.

    I mean c'mon, the man's features couldn't be anymore dead-on.

I said JOHN Glover,Rogue,"Lionel Luthor" on Smallville as far as I know,he's no relation to the smaller babyfaced Bruce(the short member of the Wint and Kidd duo in DAF),who's Crispin's father. But YES--Crispin would be perfect casting--but he didn't get nominated for an Academy Award, so that put him out of the running...

I also think that the young Keith Carradine might've been a good Joker too--when he was in his early 30s and very slender.I also liked the idea of the younger 30ish Tim Curry in this part for similar reasons.

Check out the links to the YouTube Batman/Joker short movies I gave you on the previous page, and you'll see how some other actors have been turned into remarkably impressive live action versions of The Joker without ever having to undergo extensive alterations to the character's established appearance.

Yeah, I checked out the links you provided and I agree that they were very convincing with the actor relying mainly on contorting his features rather than the excessive use of prosthetics...

Sorry but Smallville is too "90120" for me to watch, my friend so I was mistaken for which Glover you were talking about. I'm afraid that I am just too old school at times when it comes to conforming to new concepts - some of them but not all...
Smallville doesn't do it for me...
In my world on that show, Clark would be Superboy(in costume) at least and traveling through time to battle alongside The Legion Of The Superheroes...not fighting a teen version of Lex over a tube of Clearisil... 8-)

Never thought of Tim Curry in early days as a Joker but you're right. I mean the film "IT" proved that. B-)

The Joker in Dead End was indeed Walter Koenig's son.

And IGN has posted a larger pic of Nolan directing Ledger as the Joker. Hard to make out thru the opque glass, but this larger pic makes it look like the eyes and mouth are very similar to the pic on the "hacked" Harvey Dent site. Have a look:
