I have to say, that as much as I love GF, FRWL is a great choice to have as the best ever Bond film. I've made my feelings about GF perfectly clear, but IMO FRWL is the only Bond film that can challenge GF for the title of number 1 Bond film. I very much agree with you that FRWL is espionage at its best. I would argue that among the Bond films, FRWL was the greatest spy film (I don't consider GF to be a spy film so much as an adventure film.) FRWL is actually a film that grew on me. When I first saw it, I thought it was boring and quite unimpressive. The second time I saw it, I fell in love with it. :x

For me it's FRWL, I agree with all the other posts as to the reasons why.

Goldeneye and Goldfinger deserve a mention too, both well paced, great action scenes and good lead performances.

I would definitely go for OHMSS. This is the only Bond film that has added depth to it I think and the cast, even Lazenby, do a good job.

Goldfinger would be my pick of Connery's and TSWLM my pick of Moore's.

I wouldn't put any of Dalton's, Brosnan's or Craig's in the same category.
