There's a German band called Bohren & Der Club Of Gore, who apparently started off in the 80s as a metal band. When their lead guitarist left they changed direction, replaced him with a saxophonist and began creating moody late-night music of a very film noir nature.
You have to be in the right mood to appreciate their sounds- alone, in the wee small hours, with a glass of whatever takes your fancy, and reading Raymond Chandler or Dashiell Hammett would be ideal.
For me personally 2017 was full of tragedy and success at the same time, I finally finished my law studies, passing some absurdly hard exams, started making some money out of graphic design (finally!) but at the same time I lost my father, I still don't know if I will not inherit all his debts and in the end I had to brake up with my girlfriend because I was just unhappy most of the time - but in the effect I'm spending the New Year's Eve alone because my best friend decided to spent his NYE with a girl he found 2 weeks ago. "Friend".
