I guess that is a huge insult there in Iraq. I guess Bush can't get much respect anywhere he goes eh?
Apparently so.I remember when the statue of Saddam came down and everyone was hitting it with their shoes.
As for G W, I thought he was quite cool about it.I particualrly liked his remark about 'its no different than getting a hand gesture that involves less than 5 digits' ) )

From what I understand, in most Islamic cultures (or maybe just Arabic cultures) it's a gross insult to show a person the soles of the feet, so hitting someone with your shoes is about as nasty as it gets--sort of like putting dirty underwear over a guy's head! As for the Secret Service, I heard this morning that all the reporters waited hours before the press conference began and they were searched for every weapon imaginable. . .but no one expected the shoe-missile! Did they learn nothing from Richard Reid? Or even Maxwell Smart?
They were pretty good throws. Do you think this guy spent the last few weeks practising his aim on tin cans in his back garden? Still, at least Dubya got a free pair of shoes on his holiday.
Todays clip has to be the King of Dodgeball ... George W and the shoes
This astounded me. I'm no fan of President Bush's foreign policy, by a wide margin, however, I find things like that a little troubling. What if that shoe had hit him? Granted, it wouldn't have killed him, but it could've broke his nose, damaged his eye. This was a foreign leader in a supposed controlled environment.
We've seen it here in the UK, with Tony Blair being "floured" in the House of Commons, a starting pistol being fired at the Queen during Trooping the Colour. I just think situations like that remind you that something potentially more serious could've come out of it.
This Bush related clip, however, I did giggle at. I'm sure it got the Secret Service a little jumpy, but damn it, when your armoured Cadillac breaks down in front of a big foreign crowd and refuses to start, it's just a little bit embarrassing
There was a show devoted to the comedy song on BBC 4 the other night and this kid turned up. Apparently he's a net sensation now. This song is brilliant.
Given the absolutely ridiculous sudden controversy over the Hokey Cokey in Scotland (I knew we were PC mad, but we've gone batsh!t crazy now), here's a more amusing, less offensive Gestapo version, taken from my all-time favourite comedy, Allo' Allo'!

I guess we can now add children's nursery ryhmes, to the list of innocuous things Old Firm fans find offensive, which so far includes Tina Turner, He-Man, and potatoes. Bunch of dafties, the lot of them.
The best advert on British television right now, and possibly one of the best I've seen in years... 25 years of Virgin Atlantic, and stuff Boots, here come the girls!
Somebody showed me this the other day. It's a guy called Jeff Durham, who's a ventriloquist with a variety of puppets. This one is Achmed the dead terrorist.
This could be the ultimate in political incorrectness. . .here's a clip from the very popular 1970s game show, The Match Game, with a question involving Batman and Robin. And Charles Nelson Reilly's answer was nothing if not ironic!
Todays clip has to be the legend that is Todd Carty!!
Last nights Dancing On Ice has to be one of the funniest things I have seen - ever. The tears were streaming down my face and I am still giggling when I think of it.
Hats off to the guy for just having a laugh and not taking himself too serious. {[]

I don't watch Dancing On Ice, but I did happen to catch that clip - I was bent double with laughter! It's the look on his face, it's like it's straight out of Morecambe & Wise!
Weird. I take it those kids took acting lessons from Roger Moore. Although Rog would think they were over-acting by moving both eyebrows at the same time.
