Today, the guy who fits the "handsome and ruthless"

Michael Fassbender, also a darn good actor. In fact, if they needed a new bond, he would be my personal first choice.

He's too old when you factor in how many more years Craig is planning to be around and how many years EON would want a new actor to last.

Most likely true, though must say, Craig looked a lot older then his age in Skyfall. And I am the first to admit that the only way that he would get the bond role is somehow it came open in the next year or two, and even then, with the X-men and Prometheus and other projects, he might be contractually unable to do bond. Still I think he would make a great bond.

Most likely the next bond is not a star now, as the role will most likely not be open for another 5-8 years and EON will want to pick someone who can do 3-5 bond movies.

Never really thought about him before. After seeing him purely from a photogenic viewpoiont, he would fit the Bond role nicely. Pity he's not five to ten years younger so he could do three or four films after Craig was done.

...Craig looked a lot older then his age in Skyfall...

Being a fellow man "of a certain age," I sincerely feel for him. He must be taking sufficient nutrients to support his muscular physique, but I wonder what he's doing or not doing healthwise to make him look so aged. Sometimes I think what he really needs is a peppering of botox shots on the face and daily, whole bottle applications of Oil of Olay with a car buffer.

In Inglorious Basterds, many people say his delivery of a British Officer and OSS operative resembled George Sanders, but it seemed to me that he was channelling Sean Connery's portrayal of General Roy Urquhart in "A Bridge Too Far." That role in Basterds tells me he's capable of the gravitas needed for a Commander Bond and his other roles like in Haywire, show me he can be ruthless too. I just think he'd need to be dark and ballsy in tone like Dalton, like when he was being interviewed in Sanchez's office in LTK.

I think his craggy and worn face are genetic. Kevin McKidd has some similar aging, but there is no suggestion that it is his own fault. His face has just been headed in that direction for many years. And frankly, I don't think Craig looks all that old when the stubble is shaved and he did promotions for the film.

I thought Craig seemed to get younger as the film progressed. After his return from 'enjoying death' he was meant to look knackered, eg with red eyes, looking tired. But when he gets into the spirit of doing his job - gets his teeth into chasing Silva - it enlivens him.

In general though, i thought in Skyfall that his short hair doesn't help either, and his lack of body fat and training regime have aged his skin (I know, I'm the same) - as they say, 'face or figure, you can't have both' when you get over 40 :#

In my,opinion, Craig looks like Gollum, but he's still a badass awesome Bond. For me, even though I'm a man, it's Dalton and Moore.

Wow! And people say I'm rough on Craig's looks! Awesome! Looked at them side by side and it's true! I don't get it but it is purely subjective. So for all you Craig lovers, I'm glad you find him attractive.

My name is Bond, my precious. James Bond. LOL!!!

I'm surprised at the low ratings for Lazenby. Maybe it's because his film is rather old but wasn't he wowing people all over Europe with how good looking he was?

Here's my thoughts on each one:

Connery: Had the tough look going on. Very dark look (Like Dalton and Craig have/had) which can be appealing to women but not all. Handsome dude though definitely

Lazenby: Was "prettier" because he was a model. Didn't have a dark look like Connery which I think hurt him. Very open face but I can understand why he was a model.

Moore: Didn't really have that dark look that Bond is supposed to have either. Had the classically handsome thing going on and had a mature look even in his early films. Still looked good in AVTAK though.

Dalton: Going back to the dark look again and completely fit the Bond mold (And how he played it). With this look he looks more like the guy who is going to shoot you in the heart and walk away from you. Tough looking guy and relatively handsome.

Brosnan: Probably the best looking Bond ever but didn't really have the dark look that Dalton or Connery have. Handsome dude could of made a lot of money as a Model if he wasn't an Actor. I actually saw a video of him just the other day that was semi recent and he still looks awesome for almost 60

Craig: Has that dark brooding look which I believe Bond needs. Not really handsome per say I think if he didn't work out and hit the gym women wouldn't even be into him very much. Has dark piercing eyes though which adds to the role.

If I had to rank them all I'd probably go Brosnan, Lazenby, Connery, Moore, Dalton, Craig in that order.

Actually, that's a popular myth based on a cause and effect assumption, which has since been accepted at face value and perpetuated by journalists, books and documentaries. In Charles Helfenstein's excellent, "The Making of On Her Majesty's Secret Service," there's documentation from Fleming's original notes and early manuscripts for the novel about how his interest in giving Bond a Scottish ancestry predated EON's selection of Connery for the role of Bond. Of course, we also know that Fleming himself was a Scot.

I think he is handsome but he has such a specific type of handsomeness.

Interesting... This dark look you say... I'm not sure, maybe something''s indeed. I have to tell something about Craig. Most people say he isn't handsome. I can't agree. Maybe he isn't most handsome man I've ever seen, e.g. comparing with Brosnan he absolutely loses, but I think he is good-looking Bond. I mean he looks good in suit, he is handsome enough to make most girls fall in love immidately (especially when he smiles) and he just has suitable look to this character.

The most handsome Bond, all categories, is Roger Moore.
He is so incredibly sexy both in Bond, other movies and in private.
He aged well also, being handsome well into his eighties.

Here are some photos to prove it:
