The top-heavy action thing is a carryover from CR, had the same issue IMO. Thought Forster handled it better than Campbell, 2 cents.
Interesting reading again criticisms of QOS, the slightly less BO take somehow equating to it not being as good a film as CR (the writing was rushed, Forster's failings, etc.) has always seemed more fan projection than reality IMO. For comparison, OHMSS originally lasted 6 months on the NY Times bestsellers list, YOLT - published right when cinematic Bond was blasting off - only 5 months. Did Fleming botch his revenge tale? Why didn't it do better business than OHMSS, and build on that story's (and EON's early) success? I think it's simply, in general and with no scientific basis whatsoever, folks prefer romance over revenge. I'm glad Fleming wrote, and EON filmed, both as well as they did.
