I agree with Superado Boune is the superior at hand to hand combat. The Bond producers need to up their game in the fighting stakes. Bond hasn't really showed what a skilled trained fighter he is since the excellent fight with 006 at the end of Goldeneye. Look at TND when he lets himslef be led into a room with Carver's men behind him and gets the crap beaten out of him before he retaliates. This would have never happened to Bourne. I prefer Bond to Bourne but Bond needs to be more trained fighter and less bar room brawler.

Well, speculating on a battle between fictional characters from two different fictional universes is a useless endeavor, because each character will appear as 'badass' as the director/producers want them to.

The *real* question is, who would win in a fight: Daniel Craig or Matt Damon?

    My money's on Craig...

Me and highhopes agree! :o I too found Bourne way too invincible in the last film. He really is superman, which has a certain delight, but he's up against the very best assassins from the start and still gets away.

He barely gets away, and all but one person that he tries to protect get killed... did you want him to die to prove that he's not indestructible?

    Yes, the journo's
death was frustrating, especially after Bourne's superb use of his observation and improvisation skills; same with the Lisbon(?) contact.

Indeed- he's clearly fallible and we've seen that quite a few times- he gets injured, shot, left for dead quite a few times and doesn't always succeed in what he's trying to accomplish. Yes, he wins every fight he gets into, but then Bond's gadgets never fail either! :)
To say that Bourne is infallible and a 'superman' on a James Bond website of all places... :s It's only CR that makes Bond look human now.

Well, I don't agree that Bourne was all that infallible, but I don't see how you can say that CR made Bond look more human. Some of the things he had to do during the *embassy chase and airport sequence were arguably highly implausible in terms of a non-cinematic character pulling them off. Did it ruin my enjoyment of those scenes? No, my enjoyment of these scenes wasn't based on how human Bond was compared to previous films, and IMO he was just as invincible as he always was.

*That's not to mention his quick recovery from the poison. In fact, his recovery from the torture was the only thing IMO that rendered him 'more human' in CR, but then again, he hasn't really been tortured before. ;)

Yeah I know, Dan; 'every single aspect of CR is rubbish' etc. You don't have to be contrary about [/i]every[/i] positive statement about CR.

What I meant is that Bond is shown to have some negative human qualities; he's arrogant and pays for it, and he's unable to escape his various fates; he can't save himself from Le Chiffre; he can't save Vesper; he messes up the whole first mission etc. All that plus he can actually be injured.

Oh my god. :# Did I say that every aspect of CR was rubbish? No, I was simply responding to your highly contentious claim that Bond was more human in it. I guess, that only die-hard CR fans can talk about CR? Give me a break. This is a chat site, and considering that some members bash Moore/Brosnan all the time, but even regardless of that, I think I have a right to express my views about CR, which in this case wasn't even about bashing the film. :s

Plus, it must be said, I don't wake up and go to this site looking to bash CR. I go to this site looking to debate and discuss. If you don't like my comments about CR, don't respond; but don't act as if I either don't have a right to express my views or that I only do so to annoy people, because, trust me, I have better things to do than deliberately annoy people.
