When can we expect some news? We don't have any info on the game as of yet.

Also will you play this game on the PS2 or PC? Thank you. And yes I am a huge James Bond fan but I hope the next game will be as good as Goldneye.

BTW this is my first post on this forum so please be kind.:x

Not that I know of, at present.

I am thinking that maybe in November or December there will be more news, personally I hope that the game will tie in to Bond 22 since the Casino Royale game was canceled in the planing stages.

As far as what system I would like to play it on,
I would really like to see it on the Nintendo Wii,
I don't own one yet but I am thinking of getting one.

I'm mainly a PC gamer (the only other systems I have are my N64 and Gameboy SP), so I hope whatever the game is, I can get it for computer. :x

I hope that the game will be like Everything Or Nothing in terms of gameplay, and that the focus will be on the spying rather than just shooting the
bad guys. Also if the features driving levels I hope
that the control scheme is not messed up like it was
in From Russia With Love, every time I want to make a turn I ended up hitting stuff or running into the NPC cars.

Hopefully the game will be all this and more.

Nooooo! EoN was AWFUL! They should go back to first person, or at least give the player the option to switch between both! Look at my reply on the topic regarding what you would change in a bond game to see all my ideas!

Also I don't think the game could really tie in with Bond 22 as Bond 22 will be set 2 minutes after the ending of Casino Royale, and with the game being released this coming May then it couldn't really tie in without revealling key plot and story elements.

    Just my opinion! :007)

I'd like to see Commander James Bond. No M, no Q, no Moneypenny, and more appropriate gadgets, but I still think there's room for exotic locations, and maybe a couple (although rare) 007-esque stunts could be featured.

... and I think some female in the RN could be the closest thing to the "Bond Girl"

Interesting news. Looks like the game is being coded by different developers for the different consoles. While Vicarious Visions and Treyarch have both created many solid games, Beenox seems an odd choice for the Wii version - they've never made a Wii game and have specialized in porting existing games to Windows.

Personally, I'm more interested in the news that Bizarre Creations may be making a James Bond driving/racing game. They're a very capable development house and have created some great games including the Project Gotham Racing games for the 360. The thought of that type of technology being applied to a Bond racing game sounds pretty sweet.

If they're making it for the Wii they better make it for the 360 and PS3 as well.

apparently the new Bond game is being made on the call of duty 4 engine according to MI6.com so it looks like it will be an FPS.
  • Walther PPKWalther PPK Posts: 180MI6 Agent
To me it does not if the game is a first person shooter like Goldeneye was, or if it is third person like many action games lately have been.

As long as the game is well made, and fun to play,
then I am a happy camper.

PS:I did get a Nintendo Wii at last, it was a present for 25 th birthday last year.

FPS stands for first person shooter, during the game play the camera shows a first person view of the weapon currently equipped as if you were holding it for real.

I am very pleased to hear that Activision is using the Call Of Duty 4 engine for the game, I have read many glowing things about the game and if the engine is used in a simalar manner to Call Of Duty 4, then we are sure to be in for a great game.

and incorperating more stealthy aspectss of game play into a first person shooter format might be quite interesting.

I still like the idea of using the CoD4 engine, but I would have liked it in 3rd person so that a proper hand to hand combat simulator could be used. not that Hand to Hand combat and first person views cannot be succsessful, look at the condemed series.

Call of duty 4 is a great game, the ranks, unlocks, perks and customizations make it really addictive and fun. Hopefully they are basing it on that. But with FPS (First person shooter for the person above me) it will be harder to make it a spy type game, Everything or nothing to me was on of the best bonds, once i got used to the controls.

Ive herd new they are basing the game on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, so the game may cover two movies... im hoping it has a good multiplayer online for PC, hopfully its addictive and gets a big fan base, with some cool features and some fun exotic maps :)

Now I wouldn't say that. The dual analog controllers available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 give you very good range of motion. And while they're not as accurate as a keyboard/mouse combo, most games have some form of aiming assist that balances things out a bit. There's literally millions of people playing FPS's online thru consoles; it's a different feel from PC shooters but it still works and can be fun.

As to what a future James Bond will look like, Everything or Nothing was my favorite Bond game and I'd welcome something along those lines but with current generation graphics. If they're using the CoD4 engine then I'd expect an emphasis on run and gun gameplay and serious firepower. I hope they would allow you the flexibility of choosing how you approach missions (guns blazing or stealthy) as well as throwing in a few well developed driving missions.

With the exception of the finale in Venice, there really wasn't much in Casino Royale that lended itself to being transposed into a videogame. The freerunning chase would be more akin to a platforming game and I don't think that would fit in with the CoD4 engine. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if the first level in the game is the sinking building in Venice from CR and subsequent levels are pulled from QoS.

Just because they use the COD4 engine, doesn't mean it has to be a FPS. Gears of War was based on the Unreal III Engine (even though I think GoW came out first) and GoW was, 3rd person, while UT3 is FPS.

The fact that Vicarious Visions and Tryarch are both working on the game would suggest that the final product may have both first and third person elements to it. VV has a lot of history with FPS shooters (including some ports of Doom over the years) but no 3PS games that I'm aware of. Conversely, Tryarch has done some 3PS games including Spiderman but I don't think they've ever done an FPS. Or maybe all three console versions will be different from one another.

No real info, except it will be about QoS (and possibly some CR stuff).

    Yay.

Some interesting concept art is shown on the site if you hover over the flashing white dots, however they are a little small! You can see a scene straight out of Casino Royale too...

Multiple scenes, actually - Montenegro, Miami, Lake Como (although that is QoS, too, I suppose)

I've been wondering that myself...just picked up the Iron Man game on PS2...but they probably won't be hanging with the old platforms much longer :#

There's another small article on the new Bond game over at IGN which suggests it may be released for the PS2, as well as the more powerful consoles.

I hope that Activision also plans on doing a port for the Nintendo DS. I got one for my birthday this
year and I absolutely love it.
I was really disapointed to hear EA canceled the planed DS version of From Russia With Love, apart from James Bond 007 for the Gameboy and Nightfire for the Gameboy advance, there are not to many good Bond games for the portable market.
