Look at how straight/rigid that collar edge is. Unless it's been starched, t'aint no way that's majority cotton. Viscose, oi tells ya, viscose!
Yep, I'm tending to lean towards Eagles way of thinking. I've been looking at tons of stills and the DVD today and it has got to be a blend, not 100% cotton at all. The continuity on such an item in the amount of duplicates needed for such a long and complicated scene would dictate this. Not to mention the retention of sweat and damp patches showing on a fully cotton version..... ick.
I definitely do not think it is made of silk, probably it is made up of a combination of materials including cotton, polyester and nylon. I agree about the collar, its too rigid for a cotton only made shirt. In fact the collar is nothing like I have seen. It gives the appearance of being worn (which I am sure it is not) but I have other soft collar shirts that I bought on the high street that do not look as cool as this. Also I have been wondering, is that a t-shirt or vest that Craig is wearing under his shirt? I have read somewhere that it is a t-shirt although I imagine this to feel rather warm and impractical. Has anyone ever tried? I tried wearing a vest under one of my own shirts but it felt uncomfortable.
I have just searched the net for ways of contacting Lindy Hemming, the costume designer on Casino Royale. You can contact her on imdb. com. There is a subscrition fee to gather said details however there is a two week trial period in which to cancel first. These things are rarely answered in person by the people themselves but it maybe worth a try.

Well, I don't want to poop on anyone's parade, but shirtmakers have used sewn in collar stays for years. There is also a material, whos name escapes me, that can be added between layers of fabric to make it more substantial. But as Dave said, he expects to find out the real deal so there is no more need to speculate.

wow...
Then we'd be talking about whole portions of the shirt using this reinforcing technique, since it's the lack of wrinkles at the usual expected points---underneath and around the sleeves, across the chest, etc---that I have observed while watching this sequence.
I'm not sure I'd want a shirt that authentic Might not be terribly comfortable...

You insensitive SOB, you got us all hot and bothered and then nothing. Just kidding. I hope you can come through on this. It's very iconic of the re-booted Bond, and I'm chomping at the bit to get one or two.

Edit: Perhaps three?

I'm down with getting the real deal, I think, like many we have had to settle for something "close" . I know I eyeball every hawaiian shirt rack I see, looking for that elusive red pattern shirt....-{
OK, the shop is sending me four shirts, with different fabric types (silk, rayon,poly and cotton)....should be here next week. They will APPROXIMATE the shape of the shirt for each one....tons of pics to come when they arrive.
Hi all..sorry for being late..count me in for a couple poss a few shirts..
Oh..and just for info..my mum used to be a very talented seamstress who was employed to sew models into their costumes..(she passed her eye for detail to me..)
I think I have a couple of shirts made from similar fabric..(not the design..but fabric material) I will see what the material makeup is and post..the reason I think its similar is by the way it moves and handles ..hope you dont mind..??
MJ.
I suspect it may be a poly cotton mix owing to the stretch of the shirt within certain parts of the shot..imho

Pound to a pinch o' **** it's a Viscose/Polyester mix. With maybe some cotton thrown in somewhere too...
Sorry, Eagle, that's still a Sony/MGM/Eon copyrighted picture - remember to link, not show. Sir Miles.
