On the subject of plaques...

Looking at Pauls Mads thread reminded me of some comparison shots I meant to post some months back. Everyone is probably aware of the excellent Casino Royale (sans E) plaques that are on the market, and indeed they are good quality. But, they are far from screen accurate. Too small, not enough layer detailing, and the design is slightly off...

If you have the chips and play with them, then these are excellent add ons to the game, and look funky to boot. As prop replicas, they are as close as you will get ever, without looking at court action by Eon, so grab one of each quick {[]

I think this may be the last screen used one you will see up for sale at this amount. Interest is bound to skyrocket with QOS in the pipeline....

as for the replicas, they still turn up on ebay for around a tenner.

Yeah, I'd like to see these too, although I hope they are not too accurate as to infringe on copyright.

the person who made them will never be allowed to make any more..so they are pretty close!

    Maddy,

Welcome to the boards. What you will find in this section of the boards is a group of avid collectors who are excellent detectives in finding Bond items. It is a nice, welcoming community made up of students, professionals, fathers, mothers, lawyers, doctors, corporate senior management, firemen...you get the point. That all being said we are a group that is sensative to certain issues that would paint this silo of collecting into a negative light and we try to keep it respectful to all concerned parties---not that you haven't. :)

So, tell us about yourself...how did you get into collecting Bond...what is your collection like...what are your 'holy grail' pieces?
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,535MI6 Agent
Absolutely, my 'copyright' gag was meant to be tongue in cheek and a general jab at the Royal plaques we see. I'm sure Eon is'nt small minded enough to target die-hard fans who make some replicas to apease their collecting bug. It's the big boys that manufacture in their 100's purely for profit that they go after, not a small group like us who make replicas for our own enjoyment.

    Post away....

I'm very active in historical re-enactment ( or was until I started the new job)and a couple of people I work with do spy type stuff. I started helping them and found that the part of me that likes being a Roman or a pirate got a kick out of
finding Bond items like de-act guns, watches and so on.
Typically of me I'm more interested in Bond than the girls but if I was a guy I'd totally dress like Bond.
My holy grail is a blue Ralph Lauren jacket like the one Tim wore in LTK..I am slightly obsessed with Mr Dalton.

well that is why I asked..a few of us spent a ridiculous amount of money getting something pretty close to the movie plaques made by a pro casino items manufacturer...same size (huge),approximate colour and script but with no mention of the name Casino Royale.
Those of us who did them had no intention of selling them but we needed a relatively high amount as we are all keen players and intended to use them in our games.
We received the first plaques and felt a few more would be in order as they might get lost or damaged with regular game play..the casino items firm said that Sony or EON or whomever woulf forbid a second order as they were too close.
Of course that is silly as they did not mention CR but we obviously can't afford to get into a legal battle.
Would it definitely be OK to post?

8-) I think, Asp9mm has to seriously work on his way to welcome ladies here on the forum.

I do recall how he sent Stephanie Broadchest over the edge :))
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,535MI6 Agent
Stephanie Broadchest was never on the edge. In fact he/she was so far off the edge, she/he couldn't see the edge. Even with binoculars :p

See, that's, what I am talking about 8-)

@maddyhind: Welcome to the forum and I apologize for him.
He has his bright sides, unfortunately mostly with guys.... ;)

He does not have often the occasion to be in touch with the opposite sex and therefore needs to be anonymous on the web. Very often, he screws up that way also :))

We would love to see your plaques here!

Congratulations to Maddyhind and her friends for undertaking a project like the production of these plaques and executing it so well.

It takes alot of effort to get something like that accomplished!
